  1. I'm all for it if that means I can keep my shoes on, keep the jacket on, not have to empty my pockets, not be hand searched, etc. In other words if I can just walk on through it and get on my way without all the lines.
  2. To selfish at this point in my life but then again who knows.
  3. Do you have any recommendations for a big way specific tunnel coach at Eloy? I'm going down for the camp in November and was considering getting some tunnel time in.
  4. Contact the Colorado tunnel, Jason I believe. We had a couple people this summer do about an hour prep time with him before taking the course. They used a dummy rig and were able to do everything except the diving part obviously.
  5. Doesn't Brian Germain have a recommended not to exceed wingloading chart as you downsize? I would think that chart would apply no matter the goal. imho sometimes I think it's even a little too aggressive.
  6. Why not try it? You are spinning because something is unsymmetrical. Also check where your arms are in relation to each other. Maybe one is higher or lower and that's causing the turn.
  7. I think my arm span from fingers to shoulder is around 26", I do not have long arms by any means. Maybe just flexible During the course I was worried I would even be able to reach the drogue but on the first jump as a passenger pitching the drogue, I got it on the first try and have had no problems ever reaching it. Yes the toggle pressure sucks on strong canopies but on icarus and sigma is rather light by comparison. The only times I couldn't quite flare by myself is when I took a 200 + pounders on a set 400. Now that is quite the workout for me.
  8. Chicks Rock 2004 - Awesome group of friends new and old - best times ever. Summer Solstice in Alaska in 2004 - most amazing sights ever and my most memorable jump - over the glacier then a sighseeing helicopter ride back to the dz followed by the heli jump. That was my boogie year Since then it has mostly been events/camps that I go to instead of boogies.
  9. I'm 5'2" and have done around 450 tandems. Sure the harnesses are bigger on me but both sigma and strong fit okay once adjusted. I actually prefer the strong rig for fit as it is not as wide of a rig as sigmas. It did take me awhile to get the hang of it but I found the bigger ones tend to listen better anyways. The biggest I took was around 230 and 6ft tall. The taller ones were always harder though since they have so much more body surface.
  10. No, I said 180s are worse than 270s, but staight in is better than any turn.
  11. Well then why not ban 180s and allow 270s in the name of safety?
  12. not sure this is right I think that any extra funds that go towards principle reduce the principle balance and are subtracted from the final payment that would have been due at the end of the loan and to the original question, no you can not skip the next months payment You can if they apply it your next month's payment. I found they do that if you send a second check and do not specify what's its for. Then you are effectively skipping next month's payment, having prepaid it.
  13. It’s not the DZ’s call. The body will stay put until the coroner is done with his/her investigation. It’s that way with a fatality in a car wreck a plane crash etc. Sparky My disbelief is more towards the fact that they are putting up loads while the body is still laying in the landing area. Couldn't they at least wait till it was removed out of respect??
  14. You don't think this speaks loudly for less-than-rational judgement? Uh, about speaking loudly. There was and has been non of that. And will not be tolerated. Do you think that the dz should be sending airplanes up when there is a fatality in the landing area that had been there for over 3 hours? They put the crime scene tape up around the fella. I never crossed that line , nor came close enough to that line to cross it. But I heard later that day as homie is into his 5th hour in the sweltering heat under a tarp in the landing area with a crime scene tape marking his area, a jumper landed so close to the crime scene tape that he tripped and fell right through it the tape and into the crime scene area. He did not get banned like I did. I never heard any announcemnts prior to my jump that any other landing area had been closed. A crime scene tape, it's pretty obvious that you must heed that space and don't even go there. So I did'nt. After I had landed they were making announcements and later that day a jumper actually crossed the line? Are you kidding me? The body is still laying in the landing area and the dz is putting up loads?! That's sounds quite f**ked up right there! Why the hell was the body left there for 3 hours anyways!
  15. There is no collision advantage in a 180 over anything higher. First doing a 270 gives you much more room to adjust if needed as others have said. Also think about how long you are with your back to the landing area during a 180 versus a 270. In a 180 you have your back turned while you are setting up. In a 270 your back is only turned for that part of your turn which happens much faster than it takes to set your 180. Hence your back is to the landing area for a much shorter time during a 270 than a 180. imho there is absolutely NO advantage to doing a 180 over a 270 in terms of being able to see other people and even being able to adjust if low.
  16. Somehow I doubt that. I traveled for a year, flying every week and almost always took my rig with me. And fyi most all rigs are around 20-25 pounds. Never had an issue once with the weight.
  17. Right. It's going to next month's principle.
  18. Quote on a 180 approach or less, you never turn your back on where you are ultimately going. Quote I don't believe that is true. On a 180 your back IS to where you will be landing so yes it is a blind spot. Even if for only a few seconds you are turned completely away from your landing area. Anything over a 90 to a 180 technically has some blind spot/your back to the landing area although not completely.
  19. I just got back from Perris with mine. Put in in my carry on bag. Rig separate. Had no problems with either.
  20. QuoteUgh I'm so tired of hearing how "unsafe" this dz is. Quote That is not the point that is being made. It's that Lodi has less 'rules' than most dzs. Meaning you can do things like lurking a tandem at lower jump numbers, non-instructors jumping with students etc. Some things allowed at Lodi would not be allowed elsewhwere in the name of safety. It does not mean that Lodi is unsafe for allowing them.
  21. To quote someone wise(see above): Jump tickets are significantly cheaper there than they are at other dz's in the area. Go arounds use extra fuel. Fuel is expensive. Since the dz doesn't charge as much for jumps, it seems fairly logical that they wouldn't do go arounds.
  22. Have you ever jumped at another dz? If you have then you should know that Lodi has more of a watch out for yourself mentality, not a 'we'll watch out for you' mentality. You are responsible for your safety. If you don't like something, take your money elsewhere. That said I prefer places where you are not babysat every step of the way. Just don't piss Bill off
