  1. I also jump a katana and it works great on my camera jumps. Nice openings!
  2. I've used both roommates.com and craigslist. Both have worked great with one exception. Just make sure you check out the person first.
  3. I think the pressure is noticeable. Your spine is MUCH stronger than your neck therefore in case of a hard opening or mal you would want your spine supporting the extra pressure. Hence the reason to mount both on top. Since I'm not into professional photography I got an elph and had if modified for stills so as to have not need to put anything on the side. And just an interesting sidenote, all the truely professional videographers I've have seen have everything on top (of course theirs probably is somewhere around 50 pds). I also think the snag hazard is less with top mounts. No riser strikes to worry about (normally).
  4. It's irritating, more so if its raining hard. Just stick your hand out the car window as your driving down the freeway at 80 (or more) when its raining hard. You'll probably end up with some welts.
  5. I have carried mine on flights dozens of times, most recently was January. I almost always just wear it like a backpack. Never had an issue. Have been detained for a few minutes when they want to use the rig to train other screeners though.
  6. How much time??? I have over 400 jumps on my current rig...since September. I probably have 800 to 1000 jumps on my rig over 3-4 years and it has yet to lose the hardness and always stays closed. On the other hand if don't take care of your rig I'm sure it will not last as long.
  7. Did it a couple years ago, granted the move was only a couple hours away though. Got a transfer through work and found a roommate through roommates.com. Going another couple hours north this summer but I already have a job up there.
  8. I guess I will take your word for it. We cannot see any difference in the quality of the video between the cookie and sony ones. Just the fact that my cookie will not zoom in.
  9. That's why I shoot a roll for myself every so often. Never had a problem after I set everything up the first time. My still camera only fits on the mount in one position so it stays sighted even when I take it on and off.
  10. I see. We just give the tandem students the roll of film and they can do whatever they want with it.
  11. The aps looks not so good because you have to scan the picture in. My elph pictures look much better in person than your posted pic.
  12. I have a .45 cookie lens and also notice that the picture is not as clear as without the lens. It also will only zoom in halfway before the picture distorts. I have a sony hc32 camera. Another camera person at my dz has a hz42 and a sony lens(half the price of cookie, royal etc) and does not have any of these issues. I've wondered why it does that.
  13. I think it depends on the mood of management sometimes. I know of several places where hook turns are expressly forbidden in the waiver but it is not usually enforced. So you could say hook turns are banned but peopel do it anyway and no one says anything. Guess it's just there to protect the dz in case something should happen.
  14. I thought the pattern (in swooping cases) was decided based upon whether the 270 was right or left handed. So I would think swooper two flew a left handed pattern. I have always heard swoopers around here discussing the pattern in terms of the standard pattern as well as the degree of turn and which way they turn so this can be avoided. (but what do I know, I'm just a wuffo swooper )
  15. Wright brothers is closed, they have been since last summer. Eugene skydivers is jumping into a nearby farm until we can get back onto the airport.
  16. Les Schwab does free rotations which include balancing for the life of the tire. Thought that was pretty standard but maybe not?
  17. We still use film for our stills and therefore use modified cannon elphs. I have yet to find a lighter weight set up than mine.(Sony camera, elph camera and two aluminum brackets from the local metal shop. I think the quick release brackets weigh too much and really are not necessary.)
  18. What time are you guys planning for? I'd going to drive up tomorrow.
  19. Yeah, I'd love to see that from people obsessed with less drag!
  20. So why not wear tight shorts? You'll have even less drag to worry about. For some reason I find the whole capri thing somewhat humorous on guys.
  21. So with the other thread about the importance of head protection a comment in there about roadrash got me thinking. "Swoop pants" usually only come just below the knee. Why is that? Full length pants offer MUCH more protection in saving your skin and seem a lot more practical not to more mention safety oriented like helmets. Are the shorter pants a fashion trend or something? Or am I missing some important memo
  22. It would definitely depend on how advanced the md is. One of my best friends has md to the point where if her head or body leans to far forward she cannot upright herself. I would think the lack of muscle would allow the body to bend at unnatural angles and breaks would more easily happen since they cannot undo the bending without assistance. The wind would just push the body around and break it since there is no/not enough muscle to resist the wind. I don't know about other stages of md but that would be my concern. Then again I might have no idea what I'm talking about
  23. I like the last one....but where's the next couple shots
