    The HC32 models have the lanc port as well. I just got one off ebay brand new for $260. Great choice if you don't need to have this years model.

    I used to think the same, never double stow locking bands until I demoed a canopy from pd. Kolla and Vladi (sp) both told me double stowing locking stows makes no difference. They said it was better to double stow and have the correct tension than to single stow them loose. (Using the smaller bands with one stow didn't quite make it tight enough on my canopy at the time).

    I clean that regularly... and it didn't need it... ... although I did sweep it... Good to know

    Because I really like the idea of having a filter over the lens to protect it against scratches. Royal doesn't have a filter otherwise I would definitely go with it.

    Solution: move to the same town as your dz That way you can jump after work as well as weekends and already know what the weather will be before you drive out there. Seriously, that's what I ended up doing. Everything else worked out as well after I decided to move; job, place to live etc.

    When I got my strong tandem rating the IE took a copy of our log book proving we had the right number of jumps and had had a cutaway. He sent those in to strong. I wouldn't have been able to get my rating without a logbook.

    So who uses a filter on their video camera solely to protect against scratches on the lens? I'm debating on whether to get one. Haven't decided on the lens yet but it's probably only going to be $60 to $140. I've heard some say it's not worth it since they've never had anything scratch their lens in years of jumping camera and others say why take the chance but has anyone actually scratched their lens?!

    Ok, am I missing something, the sony .6 lense is $32 on ebay and $50 on the sony site. The royal is $159 and waycool about $140. Why is the sony so much cheaper than the royal lenses? Are the royal and waycool really that much better? I would have thought the sony ones to be more expensive. Or am I just paying more cuz their 'skydiving specific'?

    I have a friend who bought a bonehead optik in 2004. She had a cam eyeII and ringsight put on it. Also has a dbox attached to it but it doesn't fit my camera. She's offered to sell it to me since she doesn't jump enough anymore. The setup only has about 15 jumps on it, everything still looks pretty much brand new. So what would be a fair price to offer for it assuming I'm not buying the dbox. I don't want to lowball her but I don't want to pay full price either.

    When I got my tandem rating for strong, we are required to do one jump as the student and release the drogue. I was a bit worried about that and didn't think I would be able to reach it. However it was a stretch but very easy to pull and I'm only 5'2" with short arms too!

    Thanks guys. I think I'll stay away from the Kenko. Anyone have experience with the Sony and royal lense, which one did you like better?

    I've been checking out some different wide angle lenses to buy and the prices seem anywhere from $25 for a Kenko lense to $160 for a royal lense and up. So what are some brands to stay away form due to fogging or 'black corners'? What brands do you recommend? I tried a search but all I came up with was discussions on lenses sizes not brands.

    I finally got my hc32 today at work! Needless to say I spent awhile playing with it after the boss left. Now for all the details, lense, memory card etc. What's the cheapest way to go...probably ebay to get that stuff right?
