I paid a visit to the dz in late June. It's a small but we'll run operation. They only operate on weekends FYI but they are there and available. Beautiful views and a nice plane with nice people. Overall good times ! Very accessible by highway near Athens.

Is no one skydiving the Great Blue Hole anymore? Been trying to find an outfit for a possible trip out there. I saw the Belezian gov't is giving the boogie people a hard time? http://www.sanpedrosun.com/travel-and-tourism/2012/03/01/skydiving-boogie-moves-to-nicaragua/

I bought the Bonehead Rev2 Helmet as well and I am in love, if someone could actually express love for a helmet in a way, this would be it. Hands down the best helmet I've ever owned Bonehead or not. I also got the audible window cut into it later. I personally use L&B altimeters and I'm very happy with them, I know the SOLO 2 costs around $180 but the pro-track is the top of the line. I happened to get one newish/used in box on eBay for the same price as a Solo2. You guys with the audio window know how it's supposed to mount inside? I'll email Bonehead but just wondering how you guys do it. I also was expecting an actual window not a hole but I guess it needs it for the pressure. The design in my opinion is so much better than the Cookie. I love that it can be worn as an open face helmet because of the frame removal. What do you guys think about your Rev2?

Going to Vegas & Grand Canyon - Which DZ?
sdigital replied to sdigital's topic in Events & Places to Jump
That sounds like a really cool suggestion, yeah based on my phone call, they sound small. I have to ask my friends, maybe we can stay overnight there. I've always wanted to see Sedona, etc. I've heard great things about it -
Going to Vegas & Grand Canyon - Which DZ?
sdigital replied to sdigital's topic in Events & Places to Jump
Hey, I'm going that same weekend! I'm debating on bringing my gear. Would you consider the closer LV DZ? I'm going with friends and its a warm climate. I wouldn't resist the urge to get a few jumps in but at same time don't want to spend all day at the DZ at the risk of being annoying to my friends I'm going with. Let me know what's good. Thanks! Going to Vegas & Grand Canyon - Which DZ?
sdigital replied to sdigital's topic in Events & Places to Jump
So I've been looking into the reviews here of DropZones. I think its worth noting that the one I was planning on going to: Sin City Skydiving is CLOSED So I started reading into: Vegas Extreme Skydiving and I called them, they seem nice enough but it DOES seem very limited of a dropzone. I'm also going to be taking a drive out to the Grand Canyon and I found another dropzone just outside of Flagstaff: Red Rock Skydiving, LLC Who's been to Vegas, and/Or Arizona. Which would you recommend? I don't care if there are no other fun jumpers, I just want to build some skills and jump and don't want to wait all day to sneak on a load. Your advice is valued. Thanks! -

I know this really doesn't help but just leave your rig at home, we're all fleeing the north for more favorable climates LOL

Where to jump near Fort Lauderdale or Miami FL
sdigital replied to sdigital's topic in Events & Places to Jump
Cool, good to know as well as I'm in Pompano all the time. Out of curiosity, which route did you prefer more? The West then north or the North then west? Thanks! Stephen -

Where to jump near Fort Lauderdale or Miami FL
sdigital replied to sdigital's topic in Events & Places to Jump
I think I'm leaning of just doing Sebastian. What's the deal with the Skydive Miami place in Homestead? Is it a tiny operation? I saw the Clewistown one. Its almost the same mileage as Sebastian from FLL. What's your take on that operation? Thanks for the input! -
Where to jump near Fort Lauderdale or Miami FL
sdigital replied to sdigital's topic in Events & Places to Jump
Trying to get over the winter blues. My parents have a place in Fort Lauderdale. I'm trying to find a place to funjump near there. Sebastian and Z-Hills are each 100+ miles away. I've seen Skydive Miami mixed reviews about them being tandem-dependent and limited facilities. What are your thoughts on the above or anything else? -
WOWIE, The non-conformist and claustraphobic in me are REALLY pushing me towards that Rev2. Looks so much nicer than the Rev1!!!

See, the reason why I ask is because I do like the wind in my face. I'm looking to replace my helmet with one with the OPTION of a visor. I guess I have to do a full face then... Can you run the G3 without the facemask easily or is it a whole process? I had also seen some Bonehead military style one, its supposedly some $500 version that had an open mouth (half-visor) but the whole reason why I asked is because these Gath's seem like they are pointless so thank you for saving me from another mistake.

So I currently have a Bonehead Carbon Fiber open face helmet (which I currently have for sale as well but another story) I'm looking to make a switch to a visor helmet. I don't like the ones where your mouth is covered, I am looking at some of the styles that look like an open face but have a visor that comes down. My question is, are these types of helmets conducive to RW? How good of a wind shield do they provide being they don't have the bottom covered? This is coming from a person that feels that people that skydive with sunglasses instead of sealing goggles are crazy. Thanks in advance for your advice!

malooper, I actually traveled down by you a couple weekends ago with my rig. It passed right thru security, no issues. I do also recommend pre-check and Global entry. The TSA security on those lines is much lighter. I only was stopped on my second time because I had a 4oz can of axe which was half used... they let me keep it :)

I was renting student gear as well and had that same problem. I have THE PERFECT solution for you that will cost you only $15. Go to autozone and get padded seatbelt shoulder protectors, put your straps on, tighten them all the way and then sit down and put the seatbelt pads over them (covering the strap rings, etc) I had to ask if it would interfere before I did it and my instructor looked at me like I had 2 heads. A week later, he comes up to me and is like, I was knocking you last week when I saw that but now I thought about it and its genius! Why didn't I think of that before.

I second that. I'm in NY and as a matter of fact am going down to San Marcos this weekend to do the same thing! Bunk room is pretty nice and really nice people. Also, Austin is one of my favorite cities to hang out in. See you guys this weekend! Stephen

Wind Tunnel coach advice for relatively new solo jumper

Thanks for the pointers! Def give it a shot. I've never measured my fall rate but I've gotten complaints from others that I fall too fast for them to catch up. Side sliding sounds interesting... -
Nervous to jump. Is it ever going to pass?
sdigital replied to proky100's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
This is going to sound a little stupid but I find it works. I saw this on the TV show Lost. Jacks father the surgeon told his son to do it when he was freaking out mid-surgery. Close your eyes when the door opens and count to 5, open your eyes on 5. I dont think I ever got as nervous as you but it certainly helps for me. I try to do it before every jump. It kind of resets you in a way. -
Wind Tunnel coach advice for relatively new solo jumper

I already have a couple things to point out, overall I am happy with my form. My question was more along the lines of lets say we tweak the issues and there's time left over, is there anything cool or specifically noteworthy that you'd ask them to show you in addition to my concerns?
