  1. This last weekend I was waiting at the DZ for three hours for a break in unstable winds to complete my Tandem 2 before starting FJC here in the next couple of weeks. 3 loads went up and I was on the next one, things looked sketchy even to my untrained eye and the staff finally called it off for the day right before we boarded. Seeing iFly Ogden was on my 4 hour drive back home I decided to stop there as I could substitute 10 mins tunnel time (5 x 2 mins) for my Tandem 2 jump. By far I believe it is the best thing that could of ever happened to me! It started out with some instruction on basic body position, hand signals, and some of the maneuvers I would be learning like COA, practice touches / pulls, left / right rotation etc. For the first round the instructor flew me on the net to get started and on the second I was flyin', and by the forth round we were practicing some docking and playing a game where he would touch a point on the glass and I would have to change level then proximity to touch the same spot.
  2. This is the class schedule http://www.skydiveutah.com/aff/aff-levels/
  3. Thank you for the replies so far folks, seems the consensus is to push forth and complete AFF. I also have a few more questions to ask this weekend when I go down there for my tandem 2 jump on Saturday.
  4. I need some help making an informed decision on whether to start on AFF now or wait until spring 2014? My concern is that after crunching some numbers and looking at my schedule / finances I will have just enough time / money to do my second tandem jump and all AFF jumps, but not enough to get my A license before the snow starts to fly around where I live (Next to YNP) and the DZ I'll be calling home (Skydive Utah, SLC). I don't know if they continue to operate in the cold there and will ask next weekend, but I assume they don't. So with all that being said would it be wiser to just get a couple more tandems in this year and some trips to the tunnel this winter and start fresh next spring? Or would it be ok to push forth and complete my AFF and and pick up next spring where I left off? (
  5. Thank you 1st one isn't so bad, all I had on my mind was "head on shoulder, arch back, legs bent, hold on to harness until I tap you on the shoulder" http://i1140.photobucket.com/albums/n574/Jason_Russell/Forums/G0080574_zps1bea6cfa.jpg 2nd one I don't know wtf is going on, haha. My best guess would be that I closed my eyes to the sun... maybe a blink... http://i1140.photobucket.com/albums/n574/Jason_Russell/Forums/G0080584_zps4445f341.jpg On a better note though I called the DZ today to see when the next ground school is and it looks like it's held every Saturday at 8:00 am. Hopefully in two weeks I'll be able to spend the weekend there and get the ground school in as well as 2-3 jumps.
  6. I am planning on doing a training course ASAP. I am pretty much smack dab in the middle of 3 different DZ's as well as 3 different styles of training so I guess I just need to look over which one I think suits me best and do it. Free time is also going to be short here pretty soon for me as I have 3 houses to frame before the snow flies so I also have to see if it would be better just to wait until next spring to get started or try my hardest get 2-3 more jumps in this season. At the very least though, come hell or high water, I will get another tandem in this year. If only you could see the other pictures you'd really get a laugh...
  7. Greetings from Idaho! Just went on my first jump yesterday and am still smiling from ear to ear. I was doing some reading / searching to learn more about this sport and happened across this forum. Glad to know I have a place to ask questions when they arise (or search as they've probably been asked before.. ) Can't wait to get up in the air again! -Jason
