  1. You should be able to talk one of the bladerunning guys into it. If not, there are certain people that will try about anything for fame and fortune. Mike Sky World
  2. I don't have a clue as to the answer t your question, but if you are ordering new, you might try one of the big gear stores (square1 or para-gear) for that info. The url's are listed in the "links" section of DZ.com. Good luck w/the new gear, & make sure to get a Javelin w/hard cutaway housings if you buy used!!! Mike Sky World
  3. CANOPY TRANSFER!!! And hope that I have enough forward airspeed to cause the reserve to begin inflation behind me at which point I would cut away and go for a swingeee. Not fun, but whatcha gonna do? Mike Sky World
  4. Sure. If you do not have much experience packing, ask some of the staff riggers or packers at the DZ to give you some pointers about how to speed up, or slow down openings. I am a firm believer that beer was invented so skydivers would hang around the DZ while not jumping and pick each others' brains. You'll also get plenty of advice on this forum, just be sure to check it all out! Mike Sky World
  5. Awesome, I'll jump. Oh, good luck with insurance. Mike Sky World
  6. Thanks! I appreciate that. Although Pammi and Merrick are mostly to blame for that!! Mike Sky World
  7. Sorry, man. There's a saying here in trailerville...."Keep it in the family." If you've got any cousins here, you're in like Flynn!!! Mike Sky World
  8. The pilot might have appreciated a little help with the shoe before exit, or at least a heads-up!! Mike Sky World
  9. Did you use the jumper cables or the bounce sheets? We always liked the "Bounce" sheets, well, because they said bounce. We did this to a guy from public TV making a first jump for his show. Hook, line, and static discharge sinker!!! Rolled on the floor. Anybody remember when that "Ushuia", or whatever, show on Discovery Channel put the line about breathing by osmosis on the screen? That one damn near killed me!!! Mike Sky World
  10. Hmmm, I'm gonna have to agree with Rob on this one. I want a POSITIVE grip on my reserve handle. 50% of my jumps are freefly and the other 50 are student jumps (usually 1st jumpers). I make it my business to control my students and my (and their) handles. And if you touchee my silver on the skydivee, there will be a talkin to. Them's fightin words in Okahomee! No offense Kris, and you know I'm not questioning your opinion, just giving mine. Peace out! (And answer my poll on Safety and training if you haven't.) Mike Sky World
  11. I agree, it's also an informal start to a research project I'm working on for school. I'm hoping that if I do this right, it might have some real-world value! Mike Sky World
  12. thanks sweetkris! any ideas on why no workee w/Netscape? I just used the markup recommended on this site... Mike Sky World
  13. Actually, he was quoted as saying that on The BASE Board, and I thought it was an awesome quote. Just wanted to give due credit. I change my signature with some frequency, as you might notice. Mike Sky World
  14. I'm a big dork!! Please take the time to help me out anyway!!! Mike

  18. In the few tandems that I have done (10), for the proficiency card (so take this with a grain of salt); I jumped the Icarus 330 and 360. On both of these canopies, I followed my mentor's lead and used brakes on final up high, then released them quickly to initiate a slight dive (still pretty high) and this always seemed to build up just the right head of steam for a nice stand up. I decided against getting the rating just because I could see that jumping was about to become work, and I wanna be a FUN jumper, but I did love those canopies! 19. Robin, Holy Sh1t, YOU PACK???? How you doin? I mean, I'll tell Bobbie she'd better learn to pack then!! We miss ya'll!!! "When you try to turn a mental illness into a sport, there will be casualties."-Andy West
  20. What? That's not normal behavior? I'm cracking up that you remember that! At least my ranting made an impression on someone! "When you try to turn a mental illness into a sport, there will be casualties."-Andy West
  21. I must brag on my awesome wife. She made 17 jumps while we were dating (I'm beginning to think it was to impress me), then just decided she didn't want to jump anymore. Luckily, she is the coolest person in the world and everyone at the DZ loves her and provides plenty of ground based fun while I jump. I rarely go to the DZ without her, but she is cool with whatever I do. As a result, I am much more considerate of her wishes than I would be if she put a "leash" on my jumping. I would probably jump more than I do if she tried to tell me when I could jump. She if the perfect skydiver wife: Hangs at the DZ, but doesn't spend money jumping. If I could just get her to pack...........oh yeah, and keep Kris's dirty paws off of her.....It would be even better! Love ya Kriszilla!!! I got my A to travel with, then my C when I wanted to be a JM. Quincy would be the only use for a "B", but they really only require 50 jumps, not a B. Of course I had to get the D so I could be cool at the time. Point being, you can choose how much you want to spend based on what you want to do.
