Does anyone out there consistently jump a heatwave loaded betweem 1.9 and 2.0? I jumped a 120 this weekend (out the door I'm 235-240,) and LOVED the way it flew. My only concern before buying one is the "thinner" ZP that is used. Can anyone verify that this canopy should give me 500-1000 jumps before it explodes? I would be happy to get this many, as I could buy 2 of these for less than 1 Velocity/Extreme VX. (Price comparison only, I know the difference.) Anyway, any stories, good or bad, about YOUR Heatwave? Mike Mike's Sky World

Hmmm, tough one. With all those bennies, it sounds like you might lose your license to kill. Do you know Marcinko???? :) Mike Mike's Sky World

Yeah, for regular aircraft there really is no "Manifest." You just give tickets and fly. The radio manifest is more like general "Bob, call Frank," or "Jet load 4, 6 hour call." You shouldn't need a radio. Mike Mike's Sky World

Unless you're doing CReW or sumpin, a full face is always SAFER...I personally like the wind on my face, and most freeflyers for some reason don't wear full face helmets. Probably to try to be different, so be different and wear your factory diver!! Mike Mike's Sky World

What to do to become a great instructor
mikefarmer replied to Albatross's topic in Safety and Training
After you have the air skills... Know everything but don't let it show. Remember what a student feels like. Read your students!!! This can eliminate a lot of problems very simply. Mike Mike's Sky World -
1. Jump everything you can afford. 2. Get fu(ked up. 3. Hunt down gangsta bitch barbie. 4. Get fu(ked up. 5. Get naked. 6. Ask the boyz from Minnesota to pay homage to the "Tiki Freak" 7. Also, tell the fuzz the Tiki Freak says hi. And Fu(k you!! 8. Get hammered. 9. Don't pull above 3,000'. 10. Get drunk and naked! Mike Mike's Sky World

Reading other posts, I must be nuts. When I demoed a Cobalt 135 loaded at 1.78, the front riser pressure seemed very heavy. I keep reading that the front riser pressure is light. Am I doing something wrong? Was it because the risers were short w/ small dive loops? (I doubt it.) I am comparing this riser pressure to Sabres and Stilettos that I have jumped, and I gotta know....AM I CRAZY??? Mike Mike's Sky World

I hope this is a great canopy. PD could use some help recovering from this trendy "anti-PD" academic movement. Mike Mike's Sky World

Getting new Gear - in doubt about the main
mikefarmer replied to chronistin's topic in Gear and Rigging
Actually, "snatch force" is exerted by a pilot chute. You probably were referring to a hard opening shock, which some Sabres can be prone to sometimes. Mike Mike's Sky World -

Merrick, that is good advice. The Cobalt flies nicely, but surprised me with its zippyness. It is definitely not a "toned down" or "semi" elliptical. It is a HIGH PERFORMANCE wing. I honestly can't give advice on a Safire or Hornet though, I haven't jumped them. Did jump a Spectre once, and it was nice. Anyway, you know what you can do, so enjoy whatever you get! Aaahhh, man! Took the low road! The sad part is, I'd admit what I had if I owned a damn main! I sold my sabre a month or so ago, then f-ed up and used the cash to pay bills....I know...DUMBASS! Anyway, now I am saving for a crossfire...Of course, I've got that PD 7 Cell that I have to freepack into my dad's rig since it won't fit in mine (or his technically.) Thanks for stabbing back though!! Mike I ponder on this dangerous, but irresistible pastime- Pink Floyd

This guy jumps an Esprit 135, and wants to know what "moron would jump an f-111 Stilletto design. ~~~~ Just rippin ya num... Mike I ponder on this dangerous, but irresistible pastime- Pink Floyd

I don't think you get the "point". "Hunten" has nothing to do with it. Controlling one's own destiny, and not having o be "protected" by the police, or army, or whoever is the point. And although I cant afford one at the moment, I have heard that the 7.62X39mm is an excellent deer round...Bring it on paint throwers!!! I think that the problem lies in plain old violence. I see no reason to discriminate between violence with a gun, car, chainsaw, hook knife (sends chills down the spine, huh?), chainsaw, the bath tub, as evidenced in TX this week...etc... Uh, it looks like you and I can BOTH be glad that you don't live in MY country. You just stay where you are and pretend you are safe because you don't have a gun. OOH! Watch out for that car, don't eat that fish. Try not to let fear get the best of you! Mike I ponder on this dangerous, but irresistible pastime- Pink Floyd

Seems like I had a PD 160R take about 180-200ft at slightly above terminal(standing up under a baglock). Mike I ponder on this dangerous, but irresistible pastime- Pink Floyd

AND...One wants to ingrain in a student the DANGER of performing radical turns close to the ground, although I have generally used 1000' as the hard deck for full-on toggle turns. Mike Mike I ponder on this dangerous, but irresistible pastime- Pink Floyd
