Go to the Alti-2 web site and check out the TITAN This could be really cool for us wingsuit flyers it would show you rate of descent to help fine tune body position. Not out yet but hopefully soon It would mostly be a vanity purchase and I am vane! Check it out. Voodew The pimp hand is powdered up ... say something stupid

TITAN heads up display altimeter

Just saw this on the Alti-2 website. Looks really cool for lots of things but would probably just be a vanity purchase. It would be really cool when flying a winguit to make adjustments to body position and see the results. Check it out I really want one for Christmas Voodew The pimp hand is powdered up ... say something stupid -

Skydiving into the new year (in Texas)
voodew1 replied to voodew1's topic in Events & Places to Jump
I had orginally tried to let jumpers who's dropzones were closed know that we will be flying the whole weekend and doing night jumps if enough people want to do it. Yes there are other DZ's open but not in central Texas where the mosquitos are small and the drive is short. Spaceland is a nice DZ and Steve is a great DZO but he is 3.5 hrs from here and longer from Dallas. Happy Holidays Voodew The pimp hand is powdered up ... say something stupid -

It is confirmed we will have SSM Caravan on the 1st and 2nd. We will be flying the C206 until noon and the Caravan until sunset. We will be flyng our 206 and 182 on the 31st San Marcos is open on the 31st but closed 1st and 2nd. We will be doing night jumps on the 31st at Skydive Temple if there is interest it will be out of the C206. All are welcome we will plan for some small events depending on interest. Skydiving into the new year (in Texas)
voodew1 replied to voodew1's topic in Events & Places to Jump
Yes but New Years Eve will definetly be a Cessna 206 or 182 if the turbine comes it will not be until Saturday A.M. - Night jumps at will depend on weather and amount of jumpers wanting to make night jumps. The pilot will have to be bribed to not drink most likely but he is a cheap bastard so don't sweat that! The pimp hand is powdered up ... say something stupid -
Skydiving into the new year (in Texas)

So I hear rumors that San Marcos, Aggieland and Skydive Dallas will be closed the 1st and 2nd. Skydive Temple will be jumping throughout the weekend and possibly will have a turbine in (not confirmed yet)! Come out and play - if the turbine gets confirmed I will post as it would be nice to draw a few stray wingsuiters in and others of course. Well here it goes most BMIs and BMCIs don't like me for my views but most other wingsuit fliers do considering my pms which they are not willing to post out loud. Now that you are a BMCI you think that Birdman INC should run the show, not true if another company out does Birdman Inc - sorry. Maybe if Birdman would try to move forward in promting there product you would have a leg to stand on but until that happens I think the V-1 is hands down the better purchase than the S3 (this is an assumption due to no average jumper testing the suit only the hype behind it) I hope that Robert has some plans for promting to the skydiving community not just the BASE jumpers. I will be ordering my V-1 along with 2 others at my small cessna DZ in the early spring due to the lack of response by Birdman Inc and its instructors. Don't take this wrong, I don't know you and hope you are all for furthing wingsuit flight and due to your business I think you are. As for the suit flying the pilot with even half assed training this can be overcome - been there done that. Don't look down on the competition as it will only make us stronger as a group! Birdman Inc needs to step up to the plate now and put its people and their holyer than though attitudes in check - we as wingsuit pilots want more out of our suits and more new flyers in them - don't be the one to try and stop the movement forward. Ed I once again don't know you but think that you have the best of intensions - don't buy into the I am the greatest attitude due to a "C" in your "manufactures rating" take what you have and make the company you represent better - don't try to put the competition down - if it weren't for competition we would have anything other than a model T Ford This is not meant to piss anyone or any company off - just to raise awareness to imperfections in established companies and maybe newer companies will try to over come these. Perry P said he would hook us up. We (being the few, the proud, the Texans) need to get together on a date - Waller jumpers let me know when a good weekend for ya'll would be and we will contact Dallas as for a good weekend for them. The DZ this will happen at is still up in the air! I am sure that the jumpers in Dallas don't want to drive to Houston and Houston jumpers don't want to drive to Dallas - Me Ted and Bob are driving somewhere so flexibilty would be great by all!! Pass the word around lets shoot for March/April - this will be a wingsuit weekend ***no working at the DZ that weekend***I know its hard but be strong!!! Jen, Jen and Doug (edit) forgot Ramon sorry dude- would love to be there but probably can't make it til after Christmas - I have plans to organize a Texas Wingsuit Weekend this spring ( others are welcome) - it will be held at the DZ with the most support such as turbines, and wingsuits locally on the DZ - I would like it to be centrally located which would be our DZ but we don't have the air support so it is Dallas or Houston and right now at $15 jumps Waller is winning. If anyone has any ideas please come forward - and I need to get a hold of the Dallas wingsuiters if anyone can help. I think there is about 12 fliers in Texas now - Yee Haw!!!!!!!!!! It is very hard to land with your student as the student will(should) be pulling higher than the instructor, the student will have a bigger canopy and will desend slower than the instructor so it is up to the student to follow the instructors commands on the radio or to just follow the instructor (within reason). The instructor should check the spot first and should either pull for the student or give the pull signal high if a spotting error has occurred. As a student you should know that we as instructors are doing everything within our powers to keep you safe and questions like this might need to go to the DZO or cheif instructor before bring them out in a public forum. I don't mean this reply as a slam towards you just trying to inform you with a little better course of action, if that doesn't work than try here. Good luck with your skydiving and be safe Jason AFFI The pimp hand is powdered up ... say something stupid

Let this an example to all of you out there: Have at least 2 rigs!!!!!! Voodew Glad everything worked out ok -fly-on- The pimp hand is powdered up ... say something stupid

Have you gone to the web site and played with the rig that you can add colors to? If not chose Icon Sport and click on "buy it now" - then you can play with the color schemes. Warning - neon and bright colors fade within 3 yrs this is not just the Icon but all rigs (codura that is, I have never ordered parapack so I don't know). hope this is helpful The pimp hand is powdered up ... say something stupid

You are correct in the fact that the camera angle cannot be adjusted - it is molded into the helmet and cannot be changed easily ( I say easily because Mr Pimp is a master of the fiberglass and can cut and change the angle) Other side mount cameras can be changed by redrilling and remounting the box the holds the camera which brings up another point - if you camera becomes obsolete and breaks the new one will not fit the camera housing and the helmet has to be sent back to have a new mount molded. The skypimp top mount helmets are light weight and awesome with rear entry to put it on your head. Dave is a great helmet builder, does awesome work with bad ass paint jobs - you really cant go wrong with his product -- just have things like camera angle and such worked out before ordering so you can have it built your way. I am sure that Scott knows what he is talking about but I have 2 rigs with cut in lats and have absolutely no problems along with 2 other wingsuit flyers who have rigs with cut in laterals on our small cessna dz. I don't see it as being a problem as long as you have read the instructions as how to hook the suit to the rig properly skipping the wing attachment not the body. The next rig that will be delivered to me will also have cut in laterals Edit to add: The icon comes standard with cut in laterals on sizes up to I4 which holds mains and reserves up to a 150' ----I am not sure if this can be changed or not - I personally like the feel of a rig with cut in laterals but that is my personal preferance. Jenn, I have just ordered a Icon/Pilot/Smart rig. I was told that 117 inch bridle was standard though they do not offer "open" corners at this time. Aubrey has said that he has had no issuses flying his suit with his Icon. Voodew The pimp hand is powdered up ... say something stupid

Pilots are cheap compared to a PD canopy they are about the same price as everyone elses give or take a little Pilot mains are about $1600 Cobalt $1450 Safire $1875 Fusion $1750 Z-Po $1450 Sentry $1600 I know that the Cobalt doesn't fit in the beginner cat. just wanted to put it in there also. All the canopies are about the same price - Aerodyne is a relatively newer company trying to get started don't be surprised if the prices go up in a few years. Check out the Pilot vs. Sabre 2 thread in this forum it also shows why the pilot is selling so well not to mention it is less expensive Jason The pimp hand is powdered up ... say something stupid

First off you are getting all kinds of advise from newbies - If you decide to buy a new rig, be prepared to lose money selling it as your statement will change in 100 jumps or so it always does. You can normally put about 2 to 3 sizes smaller mains in most containers which should get you down the road a ways if you downsize "smart" Depending on how much you plan to jump will determine if it is worth buying vs. renting gear - if you make 100 jumps a yr or more buy a rig new or used. Talk to your instructors as to what size main to get. If you buy a new rig with a 170-190 in it you should be able to down size a couple a times in the future on the same custom made rig which will fit you better than used gear- and yes it does make a difference The pimp hand is powdered up ... say something stupid
