a few belated photos from the Holiday Boogie in Eloy
skykittykat replied to jont's topic in The Bonfire
Jon Your photos are amazing - they blew me away. You manage to capture personalities, the atmosphere and everything. I hope you sent some to Lesley Gale and Parachutist. Loved the BPM ones. Have you had any sleep????? The AGM only finished today! Liz -

Ian I am living in Eloy now and won't be returning to the UK until June. Have a great weekend jumping and wrap up warm! Liz -
Greetings from a new English skydiver.
skykittykat replied to DZJ's topic in Introductions and Greets
Hey Ian, How are you? I remember you from Langar - you were staying in the bunkhouse/team rooms the same as me and you were doing your AFF. Welcome to Dz.com. and I hope you get a lot out of the site and meet a lot of people. If you plan on coming to Eloy before June this year, pm me, otherwise will no doubt catch up in the UK. How did you get into skydiving?
skykittykat replied to sparknote_s's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
I was made to do a tandem jump by an old boss of mine in NZ along with peer pressure from my brother and a few friends. To cut a long story short, the thought of jumping out of a plane was the worst possible thing in the world I could do, so I did the whole British stiff upper lip thing, while saying to myself that it was only 45 seconds of my life... I loved it. My brother, who really wanted to do it, hated it. Did another tandem and then 5 years later when I had money, time, etc, I did my AFF and haven't looked back since! Liz -
It's Squidward who's gay.... On the subject of the Teletubbies, the guy who played the purple one got sacked for snorting coke and running around in the nude and I think, having sex, at the studios? It was a huge scandal at the time as featured on the front page of the Scum (the Sun newspaper) as they said it was not the sort of behaviour to promote to children - like kids see what goes on behind the scenes, hey they probably don't even know that the teletubbies are humans in costumes. UK Question - staying current?
skykittykat replied to darrenspooner's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Please correct me if I am wrong, but once you are A licence through the BPA, there are no currency rules. Liz -
Hi Craig You must think I am terribly rude for not replying sooner, but I have been out the country and have had no access to the internet. They are awesome pics! To be honest I have to thank all of you guys more as I sort of hiijacked your load. All you Brit dot.commers out there, have a great time at the HanGover Hotel this weekend for the AGM. Liz

That is the worst part of rain in AZ. There was also a tornado warning out round about sunset last night. Liz
-
Totally - it was a pleasure to have zippered off you. Missed you on the last 2 formation loads of the boogie. How is your shoulder? Is it getting better? Next time we see each other I should have more time to be initiated onto the PMS, but can we get Ken or whoever it is now, and cross dress them for a laugh Liz

See ya all there on the 100 ways or if money/time allows, the big way camp as well - the big way camps rock big time! Liz

That was one of the rumours going around hence the ????. (a pretty unbelievable one at that!) Glad he is out of hospital. Liz
-
Absolutely boast - your son is a lucky boy and you must be so proud of him. Carry on putting him through the Airspeed camps and he will be kicking your ass when he gets in the air!!!! Liz

This Eloy boogie was 100% better than last year. The Airspeeed organised loads rocked and were a lot of fun. Personally, 3 jumps stand out. 1st: Being invited by Nina Kuebler to do a 4 way with one newbie and getting on the ground afterwards to be told that that was the best 4-way she had done ever. Seeing her huge smile and enthusiasm was awesome. 2nd: Organizing a a 21 way for the first time (before that the biggest I organized was an 8 way) and it completed. 3rd: My 1000th jump (today) and a huge thanks to everyone on it - it was a blast! Also, meeting friends - old and and making new ones and jumping with them. Liz

The same one where the foot came off and got handed to the paramedics??? Decibel - heal quickly. Liz

Djan - you ROCKED!!! CONGRATS to the Z-Hills crew. Fun was had on both sides of the country! Liz
-
Do you have to be Canadian to join in?????? Liz
-
It still is! We are doing 3 plane formation loads at sunset every day and there have only been a couple of peeps out every time - awesome or what??? The RW organised loads are going really well - am not freeflying, so can't say, but am sure from all the smiles that they are as well. Lovin' it. Liz

Thank you!!! Happy New Year. Liz

Who Are Your Skydiving Heroes/Mentors?
skykittykat replied to skykittykat's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
The Steve Scott I mentioned was my Brit AFF instructor in 2000 - don't know the other Steve Scott you mentioned, unless they are the same! Liz -
Who Are Your Skydiving Heroes/Mentors?
skykittykat replied to skykittykat's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
I was speaking to Mike McGowan yesterday and he told me that Dave Verner (Kirk's father) was his icon of the sport when he first started out. That gave me food for thought as one of my icon's/mentors is Dave's son! Train of thought..... the year is coming to a close and I thought back over the past 4 years and who were my all time heroes/icons/mentors and here they are: Kirk Verner Neal Houston Paul "Apples" Applegate Si Powell Steve Scott Kiwi Brandon Who are your heroes/icons/mentors? Your Skydiving Goals for 2005?
skykittykat replied to Dumpster's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
2005 Goals: 1. Have Fun. 2. Learn heaps. 3. Jump with newbies and give back to the sport what has been given to me, ie pass on the knowledge and friendliness. 4. JFTC - got an invite, so.... 5. Get an invite onto the Arizona Challenge. 6. Compete in Advanced at Nationals - still working on getting a team together. 7. Have FUN. Liz -
I think most people who did the jump were glad to put faces to names. IMHO the dz.com site is a font of information, but there is also a side to it which is dross (and I am NOT criticizing the site). Not everybody wants to post. I won't post a reply to a question on canopy/base, etc (unless it is to say get coaching) coz I am not the best canopy pilot out there and I don't base jump. The skydiving world is a SMALL community and every skydiver is a part of it. I am sure that Craig and Dennis, although they haven't posted on this forum, have given more to the sport and the people in it than a majority of people on this site have ever done or will do. I know I have posted heaps on this particular thread and it is not to defend the record, but more the spirit in which it was done.

Yup, this thread has given me some giggles, however, when we did the jump it was FUN and we achieved something and BTW, the east/west coast thing was not an issue. It was a whole bunch of dz.commers having a great jump together. Okey dokey - I am sure we can "bin" Craig if the one post rule stands and go up and do it again. The 2 vids are fab and artistic - thanks to Duece and Greg. Liz

I know of 2 guys. One is a 16 year old guy who has done 2 Airspeed camps. The other is the fantastic, wonderful Omar from Orlando. Yup, Omar kicks ass in the tunnel, but has not even done one skydive. He did go up in the plane to do a tandem, but refused at the last minute. He did say he would do a jump, but only if Eliana would take him on a tandem. Somehow, I don't think that will happen in the near future and so does he!!! (We had a conversation about this and he just does not want to jump). I have 30 hours in the tunnel in the past year and that way surpasses my total number of jumps, but I can honestly say that much as I love the tunnel, it CANNOT replace jumping out of a plane. Jumping out of a Herc, pulling high and flying out to sea watching the sunset and landing on the beach followed by drinking from a fresh coconut filled with rum with new friends in Ecuador is one example. Liz

Got it in one!!!! Didn't stick around too late last night and tonight had to hotfoot it out of there after the formation sunset load debrief. It has been fab to meet and jump with so many dz.commers. Mouth and Amazon you are two cool chicks and great to see you again. Remster - my fave formation load clone, but please smile and geek at me more - oh, sorry, it isn't easy to see out of a full face helmet Liz
