I'd say tell a few people in your balloon so they won't let anyone follow you out & so they could get video. after you blow the horn, pretend like your taking a pic (w/ a disposable camera or something), but just can't get the right angle, so you climb up on the edge of the basket, flale & faaaalllllllll.... hopefully someone in the other balloon will remember that your an obsessed skydiver & love to pull pranks like this & will be able to reassure Mr. & Mrs. Blog on their anniv that nothing will go wrong. Wear your rig onto the balloon - no need trying to put it on in a cramped space w/ a big space below you. This sounds hillarious!!! Oh, I'd also tell the friend that planned the outting. I know I won't be there, but Bo took sounds like Bo took tomorrow morning off, so someone might be out. 6 AM comes awfully quick after 1 AM & it takes me over an 1.5hrs to get home in the evening . Yea!! I get a ride in Piriya & Andyman's cool Honda!! Kinda funny, cause in a month - I'm moving to Oak Lawn/ 103rd & Central - I'd practically be home. Depending on the night Bo, I might have to take you up on the ride to the L. Tis gonna be lotsa fun! There is no can't. Only lack of knowledge or fear. Only you can fix your fear. We have KitKat & Dairy Milk... Maltese sounds familiar, not sure from where though. Nightengale, is the flake you speak of different from the flake we have here? Seriously, for being the biggest junkfood country, our candy supply is terribly limited! There is no can't. Only lack of knowledge or fear. Only you can fix your fear. 111th & Pulaski - HOLY MOLY talk about the south side!! Is there an L train near there? Anyway back to the loop other than a cab? This is real Irishland - I think.. There is no can't. Only lack of knowledge or fear. Only you can fix your fear. PMS #227 (just like the TV show)

Yup, I got safty day induced spring fever.... but then it started snowing & hasn't stopped. At least I'm in Chicago & not the North East though. I don't think you southern folk can talk about spring fever until you've experienced cabin fever . There is no can't. Only lack of knowledge or fear. Only you can fix your fear. This is something most people don't think about, but it's SOOO true. My first apt living alone was a 16' by 17' studio - Talk about SMALL!! But it was in the area I wanted to live, closer to work & the management was great!! Since then I've lived in 4 other places (5 apts in 6 years), none of them were as well managed as that whole in the wall. I also agree w/ Baa75. And that a year is not very long, if you hate it you could possibly sub lease, but chances are you could stick it out another year. Plus if you dislike it that much, it'll make you get out & do more interesting things than sitting in your apt . Go for it - jump into the commitment w/ 2 feet forward - have fun!! There is no can't. Very cool!! Stupid American comment coming: Dude, Ireland has an airforce?!

Thank you for the lesson Turtle!! I didn't know parts of shell fish could kill you - glad I didn't eat any . So, you're a shell mammel - would parts of you kill me? That is true, and a very interesting/sad thought. Yes, yes it was.... makes one think. I however chose to not be arrogant at all & go ahead & believe in my higher power. There is no can't. Here's to you & here's to me, best of friends, we'll always be. But if by chance we disagree; then fuck you, here's to me. I LOVE THAT!!! A frined of mine from S. Africa tought it to me the night I got my A license.... I always forget the friend part though Guess I need a few s. Oh, 100 bottles of on the wall, 100 bottles of , take one down pass it around 99 bottles of on the wall. 99 bottles of on the wall, 99 bottles of , take one down, pass it around 98 bottles of on the wall.... edited to add.... oh, thank you HH - this one rocks!! I agree w/ you 100% but this line just CRACKS me up!! hehehehehe, prob cause my extended family is ultra religious (Mennonites, Amish w/ cars, phone & electricity) & I just find some of their rules assanine. When my mom was 15 she was told she'd go to hell if she continued to part her hair on the side rather than in the middle, before putting it in a bun to be covered by a bonnett. Sometimes they make me laugh, sometimes they make me go crazy. There is no can't. Only lack of knowledge or fear. Only you can fix your fear. PMS #227 (just like the TV show)

I wish that was my problem... instead, I'm always afraid of ODing before the pain goes away . I have taken performance tests & they've been fine - doc didn't believe I was ok/still feeling pain after the huge doses he was giving me. I will not jump if I don't feel fine, sometimes I feel like one of the only people that doesn't believe that an "air bath is the best cure for a hang-over". No thanks, if I'm fuzzy, I'm not gettin on the plane. I do agree 100% on checkin w/ the pilot, I just adore him way too much to think of affecting his ability to fly. Eric - you crack me up

I'm sure now it is more symbolic, perhaps at the time of the writing of the rules, there was prob some basis in reality for the restriction. I am FAR from a scholar in the Hebrew faith, but as w/ most religious doctrine, they can be updated with the time, but there's still the stigma of disobedience. I figured the site was a joke, but didn't want to waste my time proving it.... thanks for pointing out that there's a footnote. There is no can't. Only lack of knowledge or fear. I think that site is a joke. However, the Hebrew belief is that those animals are unclean. Not sure if they can eat them if the food is specially cleaned or not @ all... kinda like pigs & the like. To each their own, Hindu's don't eat cow meat... go make fun of them (In case you can't tell, I'm kidding). Islam teaches that alcohol is evil... the list is never ending. There is no can't. I do not think most people should jump while on pain meds. Unfortunately, I have to say that for me, it'd depend on what pain they were treating & the historical affects they have on my performance. Most meds say not to drive or operate heavy machinery... how many of you drive while medicated? That is dangerous to others as well. If I was taking meds to releave back or hip or neck pain, I wouldn't be jumping - for fear of futher injury. But if it was to releave say arm surgery, I prob would - all depending on prior knowledge of their affect!! I have a VERY high tollerance to drugs, the amount I have to take to totally numb my body are near the top of the legal limit. I've taken 3 doses of vicoden w/ in 6 hours & felt 100% normal - went to school, work (as a waitress), drove & everything. After having finger surger (plate & screws), I was taking hydrocodone (2 doses every 2.5 hours); if I skipped a dose during the night I'd wake up in the worst pain of my life. If I take a smaller amount - typically some of the pain goes away so I can function like a normal human - but I can still tell is't there; my moter funcyions are not decreased (well more than usual anyway ). As in most things, the general rule is no, BUT.... each individual is different. If the medication historically makes you fall asleep or feel loopie - don't jump. Better to be on the ground wishing you were jumping than in the air wishing you were on the ground - that's the rule of my skydiving. There is no can't. Only lack of knowledge or fear. I've gotta try this "french roll" sound interesting. I think that everyone talking bout tucking one hand in & then the other is just flipping. A barrell roll, I thougth was more of the kind planes do but on a smaller scale; which is typically done while tracking. I do not understand how doing a barrell roll w/ ones hand reaching toward the opposite thigh while in a delta track position would cause one to lose so much horizontal movement. Infact, IF you bent at the waist to do this manuver, you'd be stoping your horizontal movement & trasfering the speed vertically (or toward the ground). I was taught to do a tracking barrel roll to keep the same tracking position, (perhaps hands in @ a lesser angle away from the body) twist the shoulders (one up & one down) w/ the down one to the side you want to go down.... as far as you can & keep the position, momentum carries me around. It is a terrible tragedy. Not new, but terrible. Children, spouses & unknowing strangers have been used for ages. There are many many children being used to carry drugs accros national lines every day; typically they are in danger of over-dosing - sad for them, but better for the poeple around them rather than a bomb. I'm suprised/horrified it didn't get more coverage. But that would have led me to think that it was not that unusual. Falxori - you are often in my thoughts, as my other acquaintances living daily under the constant thread of death. Blessings to you. There is no can't. Only lack of knowledge or fear. Have your relatives come to see you skydive?
EricaH replied to Vertifly's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
My brother, father & mother couldn't wait to see it. The first time dad & bro saw, they signed up for tandems. I won't ever be able to get my mom in the plane for an observer ride, but she loves seeing "the pretty canopys appear in the sky". Don't know what'd happen if any of them saw an accident though. Switch to freeflying so you don't have gripper/bootie problems . If that don't work, try what the others said & good luck. Might also want to make sure the water is on cold. There is no can't. Only lack of knowledge or fear. Only you can fix your fear. PMS #227 (just like the TV show)

Those are the worst!! When you could have done nothing to prevent it - shhesh. Please, Don't let it scare you from jumping. You'll get in one or 2 intrepid jumps when your better & forget all about it. Esp since this'll keep you out of the air while everyone else is gettin re-current - you'll be jonesin for a jump. Freak accidents can happen to anyone. I was just talking w/ a friend about this the other day. She had a friend that worked in an office that was directly hit by the 1st 9/11 plane; however, he stayed home that day cause his son was sick. Later that day, while his wife was lookin in on the child; he urned on the TV. The sound was up so loud it shook the wall - well, a large picture that was hanging above his chair fell down, hit him so hard on the head that he died!! This is not a shit story, my friend is good friends w/ the family. Anyway, my point is that if it's suppose to happen, it will. Esp those freak ones... ones that could've been prevented - perhaps it's the persons fault. Anyway.... supportive friends are what makes the world go round! Anyone is blessed to have them! Yeah, that is definately a bonus. I go to the doc on friday so hopefully he'll give me an idea of how long i'm grounded. hopefully not too long. I had a friend shatter both tib & fib @ end of Feb - now he has a metal rod in the bigger/outter one. His doc expects no more than a 2 month recovery... that'd put you smack in the middle of Chicagoland weather finally starting to behave.

I bought 2 candy bars about an hour ago... you've just inspired me to eat the 2nd one - thanks . I do like the pita rather than bread - but that's just me. Potatos are one of god's gifts to the world, right after fire
