Ahh, jeesh. Now I have to go study taoism & yoga again . That dang relaxing - everyone keeps telling me to do it. one day I too will be a zen master (well, i hope anyway). I understand the just clicking - got that for sitflying a while ago, any position & it works. Guess patience is another key to relaxing. I was going on the theory of "if you build it (position) they [it] (relaxation) will come." I do understand. Perhaps I need a slimmer suit just so I CAN feel the air. Right now it's just rushing past me. I pretty much found this body position on my own (most at my dz fly daffy anyway) - now I have to tweak it so it feels right. makes perfect sense that docks would be easier w/ a slimmer suit. I rotate between the jumpsuit & pants w/ a longsleeve T - I don't really notice a difference. now it's warmer, perhaps on another solo I'll see how slow i can go in shorts & a T. Oh, I am one of those fatish people trying to compensate. My 200# b/f use to complain that I went too fast - now he can't slow down as much as I can - ha, the benefit of being flexible I guess. thank you for clarifying. i will "feel the air" more focused this weekend. naaa, not too bad - after all, boobs are malleable. and if you put it on the underside of the breast - unless you have a tight fitting shirt on, it's hardly noticable. then again i'm not typically stuffing that stuff when I'm at all concerned bout how i look. Went on a jump to test a dytter & didn't have a place for my protrack... well, not a place designed to hold a protrack anyway - the bra is great. and when i would go jogging & didn't have pockets to put my house or car key, I'd put it in my bra. pretty much anything smaller than a deck of cards that doesn't have a place to be put - I'll put it in my bra. Does that make me weird There is no can't. Only lack of knowledge or fear. Only you can fix your fear. PMS #227 (just like the TV show)

Thank you for putting this out there, I know it - it's just so hard to put into practice! I don't have a slim female body (I met you last spring at the Xenia, OH boogie - random I know) and so had to learn to fight gravity. I know all i need to do is bring my legs in to go faster - in one video this weekend it looks like I'm almost in splits (max that jump was 140!). Kinda want a slimmer suit, but am afraid of ending up too fast again. From almost 100 jumps trying to go slower, I now have muscle memory to push my legs out as far as they'll go. Funny thing is Monday morning I can hardly walk my hips hurt so much. so, this is true? i'd heard that everythings easier when going faster. well, obviously not docking as the wind speed pushing on arms is then awfully strong. Thank you very much for your input & encouragement! Now I just gotta go do it! What did I do to go slower? Legs are in a wide V & I bend/flex my ankles so feet are almost 90degrees (think of hanging from your ankles) oh & practiced a bunch (lots of solos logged here!) There is no can't. If they only keep stock canopy's on the shelf for 2 months, it makes me wonder where the unsold ones go & where do those returned w/in 30 days... Don't really need to know, just musing over it. Now I'm going to slow head down. My max was well into the 220mph , now I'm down to avg 150 w/ max speeds in the mid 150s... and everyones telling me to speed up. Just wanted to vent a bit. I told my b/f he was just jealous of my range - at least he keeps up (er, down) with people though. Thank you everyone for your hints - a bit of everything helped me get here. The one that stuck the most was to try "hanging from my feet" - of course it looks pretty funny in video. There is no can't. Only lack of knowledge or fear. Only you can fix your fear. It was really great to have you guys out at Hinckley that weekend. I was the solo HD leaving the plane right behind you - very cool catching your breakoff from a distance. Having better jumpers @ the dz just makes me want to hurry up & get better all the faster. thanks for the inspiration. There is no can't. Only lack of knowledge or fear. Only you can fix your fear. Not that you know me, but... I've almost always had long hair. Pretty much every other year of my whole life I've gotten tired of it & cut it. I've gone anywhere from just above shoulder to having the longest layer on top of my head being 2" (complete soccer mom!) Every time I cut it I cry & can't wait for it to grow back. Last time it was so bad, I swore I'd never get more than 3" cut off at a time. I've held true to that for 5 years. Last month I had 4 inches cut off, it was almost traumatic! But then I could have 10" cut off & then my hair would be as short as yours is now. do what you like, as you said it will grow back. but pleased remember you can't put short hair into a poneytail to get it totally off your neck/face. Do skydivers care about safety? Bill Booth
EricaH replied to skydived19006's topic in Gear and Rigging
Not that this addresses your issue (which I completely understand), but.... someone at my dz was saying that Infinity will make a container to fit basically any size main (with in reason of course). The person in question jumps a 97 main & has a 135 reserve. There are other issues here in that you NEVER would want to deal w/ a 2 out situation in that set-up... but that wasn't your question. I lovelovelovelovelove straddle benches & have begged & pleaded w/ Doug (CSC's co-owner) to have them on at least one side of the plane. But nooooo - he & the other vidiots don't like them cause they supposedly make your head closer to the ceiling - wheatever, I don't understand. But alas, Doug has sworn all over to me that we're having side benches, just like the Eloy, Elsinore & so many other dz's planes. I hate the floor, so this is the 2nd best option IMO. If I didn't have a jump package I'd go to Sky Knights just for their PAX w/ straddle benches! There is no can't. Only lack of knowledge or fear. Only you can fix your fear. The Skydive Chicago otters have you sitting on the floor w/ buckles that come from one attachment point on the wall of the plane to go through one point on your harness. However, the Chicagoland Otter (where I jump) will eventually have benches installed w/ typical airline lap belts. I believe they are still in the flight testing stages. It is also definately going to be painted - the owner just wouldn't divulge this info to me (he thinks it's fun to not tell stuff like that). Teh 2 doors is interesting - I don't think it's an option though. Just one of those inprocess stuff. From word of mouth the experts down there @ ASC are putting in the lights/door & benches. Then off to be painted & home... well that was suppose to be over a month ago. There is no can't. Only lack of knowledge or fear. Only you can fix your fear. PMS #227 (just like the TV show)

Thank you Eduardo - I plan on going to SDC a few times this year, but I always do - when's the last time you were at Hinckley, huh? Zoter - thank you very much & great work for you too! It's wonderful to see! Chrissy - thank you. That'll be cool to have quite a few visitors. My b/f was invited to participate in the invitational, but he wants to work more & not jump the gun. So, he'll prob do video. It looks to be an exciting time. I can't wait be be invited to something like this. But for now, guess I'll just have to share Matty. I can't imagine what it'd be like to be floaty. I would think that doing HD it wouldn't affect you, just be as narrow as possible - but I guess feathers do float no matter which direction they fall. Good luck to you! There is no can't. Only lack of knowledge or fear. Only you can fix your fear. PMS #227 (just like the TV show)

Even though Tecumseh is only a few hours away (4.5) - it seems so far! We have an excellent freefly LO at Chicagoland - he is really pushing those of us with basic skills to improve. Ball jumps/slot flying/docking - all going on every weekend. I am going to try to rock it out with him a bunch. Then I need to get a tour on of dz's, believe me - Techumseh is on there!! leaving for France with my rig...

Many airlines have a list online of acceptable carry on items. I know I've printed it up for United & Southwest & have seen the Contenential list. They all say sport parachute rigs. So, 38 solos, 10 actual coach jumps & 45 jumps w/ very experienced people later and I am going slow & docking on my head!! I've been straight down for quite some time, I could turn/move & put a hand out - but I was screaming down w/ max speeds from 198 - 225, averages around 190. Yesterday, I had my slowest max of 164 w/ an average of 160, then I reapeated it 4 more times w/ the highest speed of 175 - finally my fat ass figured out how to slow down. It was great! I did a few docs, side slid & turned (on purpose following a friend). All I can say is YEA

When I had 200 - 300 jumps I was pulling somewhere around 2500' w/ snivel that meant open canopy around 1800 & flying (togels unstowed, chest strap loosened & the like) around 1500'. Then 2 things happened. 1. I saw a video of a guy @ our dz years ago that had a spinning mal. He had soft housing. Anyway, w/ RSL he had an open reserve about 1.2 seconds before landing - he lived. To me, this was the first time I actually thought about how long it could take to deal with a mal, not typical but it could happen. 2. From about 500' above, I watched a friend of mine go in under a spinning mal. This winter on vacation, under a good canopy I looked down at the ground. At 2,000' I thought - that's ok, I could cut away, pull reserve & still live. At 1,000' I looked down & thought - dang, that's close to the ground; ain't no way you could cut away & still live. In fact I know you could still do it at 1000' if necessary, but still I really don't want to be there. So, now I pull at 3,500' & have full stearability check by 2,500'. I don't care what kind of jump I just did; I inform my jump mates they can hum it down if they so chose; but I'm out of the dive in time to pull that high. There is no can't. Glad you had lotsa fun there! It is a great place. Question, I see you jumped w/ Dennis & Amy (couple in pic 011). Dennis has a website w/ lotsa pics, but he complains that his face is never in any - would it be ok if I forwarded some of these on to him? Just the one's w/ Dennis & or Amy in them?
