    Got pretty close to being burned out this past year, 1300 jumps, 1100 0f them tandem. Got over it by switching from mostly tandems to mostly video and AFF. Having all your ratings (and using them) not only makes you more valuable to the dz, but it helps keep things fresh. The funnest days I have are when I get to do all three.

    That's my cynical view of it. The attitude actually comes from being in one AFF course and filming two other AFF course directors.     Cool....I loved my 107. Put about a thousand jumps on one and was somewhat sorry to see it go. Just be careful, the recovery arc is about the same as a velo.

    RSL on Tandems

    I do not jump with an rsl on tandems. I pull more than high enogh to deal with both a cut away and have the time to make sure a we are in a stable belly to earth position to ensure a clean reserve deployment. “That which can be asserted without evidence, can be dismissed without evidence.”

    I don't think Jack was stalling the canopy near the ground to show a student what could happen. At that place it is (or was) mandatory to have your student help you land. From everybody I talked to about the incident, it sounded like the student did a panic flare too high above the ground and Jack didn't catch it in time. “That which can be asserted without evidence, can be dismissed without evidence.”

    I always let the student help me steer the canopy, but only let them help me land if they have made prior tandems and the practice up high is satisfactory.
