    Skydiving will not be dead, probably very different though. Less fun jumpers, less twin engine turbines, less outside video. More single engine turbines, more hand cam, more emphasis on filling the plane. Fun jumping is doomed...it already happened in NZ, is starting to happen in AU, we will see it here sooner rather than later. “That which can be asserted without evidence, can be dismissed without evidence.”

    I wear FF suit when its cold, FF pants and a t-shirt when its warm. Only do the shorts/t-shirt on the hottest days. I prefer the drag, especially when doing handi-cam. “That which can be asserted without evidence, can be dismissed without evidence.”

    If he is jumping with that wing loading, then he has received some piss poor training. If this "mister mentor" somehow has an instructional rating, well lets just say that wouldn't surprise me at all. Not a safety nazi at all. Unfortunately for some newbies they think common sense falls into that category. I grow tired of hearing about all these newbies jumping canopies at an unsafe wing loading. How 'bout a different approach.....tell them how it is dangerous, wrong, etc and how it can kill them. If they insist on doing it anyway, good for them. Fatalities and life flights out of the DZ bring more business in anyway. Makes my paycheck go up. Twisted? Of course. But apparently the words of people who have some experience and knowledge isn't getting through to them. Let the ground teach them the error of their ways.     At 160 jumps the fact that you are even thinking about swooping is beyond shocking. You have the rest of your skydiving career to worry about swooping and have plenty of time to downsize, only if you live long enough. “That which can be asserted without evidence, can be dismissed without evidence.”

    It is indeed a fun place to jump. Fast plane, newly remodeled gear store & snack shack, bunkhouses, showers, load organizing...lots of good stuff!

    They either became tandem instructors or stopped working. I know of only one dropzone in AU that offers outside video, rest are all handicam. Any Aussies out there that can say if there is more than just one DZ doing outside video? “That which can be asserted without evidence, can be dismissed without evidence.”

    No spin needed. The definition of a recession is two consecutive quarters of negative GDP growth. Since that has yet to happen, I think saying that we are in a recession is a bit premature. Are we heading there? Perhaps... Of course, you can make your own definition of a recession if it makes you happy. “That which can be asserted without evidence, can be dismissed without evidence.”

    Mi amigo, that line says it all. That is why the majority of DZ's will eventually go the handcam route. All other reasons mean nothing when compared to the bottom line. “That which can be asserted without evidence, can be dismissed without evidence.”

    It's not a matter of "if" the US goes to handicam, it's a matter of "when". With the rising cost of fuel, a lot of dzo's will not have a choice if they actually want to make money. I love outside video, it's how i got my start in the sport. It is an absolutely better product, no doubts about it. However, as a full time tandem instructor I have no problem strapping a camera to my hand. It actually allows me to do this for a living and eat something other than ramen noodles every now and then. I predict outside video will be all but gone within 5 - 10 years here in the US. “That which can be asserted without evidence, can be dismissed without evidence.”

    If you want to be challenged and seriously tested, go with Kip Lohmiller(I think that is how you spell his last name). I've shot video of one of his courses in Lake Wales.     CSS doesn't offer AFF, at least when I worked there. They offer a "unique" form of tandem progression. “That which can be asserted without evidence, can be dismissed without evidence.”

    Yep, I wear a factory diver with the visor removed and don't have any problems with it. Occasionally the student can bump his head on the chin part but so far it's been pretty rare. It's a nice helmet to wear when it's extremely cold, OTOH it isn't so nice when it's a 100 degrees out. “That which can be asserted without evidence, can be dismissed without evidence.”
