If the tandem instructor is opening at the correct altitude, then I wouldn't think tracking, or worrying about your heading, should be much of an issue. Waiting til about 3500-3000 feet for pull time should give you plenty of separation. Of course, I have yet to have a tandem master hose me on the spot after a few hundred video jumps, so maybe I'm spoiled. No tracking for me. “That which can be asserted without evidence, can be dismissed without evidence.”

Mind sharing the info on where you purchased it? “That which can be asserted without evidence, can be dismissed without evidence.”

How many jumps before camera flying?
tonyhays replied to NoRules's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Depends on what kind of camera flying you want to do. A good rule of thumb (and there are many) is for whatever discipline your filming (rw/freefly), be able to fly that way it without thinking. “That which can be asserted without evidence, can be dismissed without evidence.” -

Aussies who have travelled to the USA with Rig
tonyhays replied to Squeak's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Travelled to AU (Sydney) with rig last March. Checked it at the counter, had no problems. Flew Quantas out of LAX. “That which can be asserted without evidence, can be dismissed without evidence.” -
Are you saying that this unrated JM/Coach caused these fatalities? Or not being rated somehow led to a fatality? How 'bout a little more clarification on that statement? “That which can be asserted without evidence, can be dismissed without evidence.”

Oklahoma Skydive Center or Skydive Tulsa?
tonyhays replied to billvon's topic in Events & Places to Jump
Why not both? Either is a short drive from Tulsa, if that's where you're staying. We are student oriented, but still manage to get a few fun loads off here and there. We also love to do night jumps. I'm sure you'll have fun either way you go. Just be prepared for high winds. Seems like the last couple of weeks has been nothing but high wind weekends. “That which can be asserted without evidence, can be dismissed without evidence.” -
0:8:0 All 8 jumps on a demo velocity 120. Mucho fun canopy! “That which can be asserted without evidence, can be dismissed without evidence.”

My grandfather was the pilot of the Hell's Angels. When I asked him about it, he said they beat the Memphis Belle by 6 days. The reason the Belle got all the attention, was because it flew home and did a tour to improve moral. The Hell's Angels stayed and flew another 23 missions (different crew). “That which can be asserted without evidence, can be dismissed without evidence.”

The Memphis Belle was not the first to complete 25 missions...it was the Hell's Angels of the 303rd. http://www.303rdbga.com/ “That which can be asserted without evidence, can be dismissed without evidence.”

Do a search in this forum. You'll see that most people don't jump them or have bad things to say about it. “That which can be asserted without evidence, can be dismissed without evidence.”

New camera suit - what do you think?
tonyhays replied to StevePhelps's topic in Photography and Video
Cool suit. Has anyone ever told you that you resemble this guy? http://www.geocities.com/Hollywood/Cinema/2636/man2.jpg “That which can be asserted without evidence, can be dismissed without evidence.” -
You can get other wide angle lens for that camera, you just have to find a step-down ring (adapter) to fit it. But like Andyman said....this camera -may- not be for skydiving. It's predecessor model, the Elura 40, only lasted for a 100 jumps with me. “That which can be asserted without evidence, can be dismissed without evidence.”

Nice pics. My mom has the same fear for me. Maybe someday I'll get her to do a tandem. “That which can be asserted without evidence, can be dismissed without evidence.”

Is there any advantage to the PC330 over the PC105, other than than the stills? I'm looking at one of these two for a backup camera(I shoot tandem/aff) and was wondering if it's worth the extra 300-400 dollars extra for the 330. “That which can be asserted without evidence, can be dismissed without evidence.”

I do! I do! Good luck with the interview. “That which can be asserted without evidence, can be dismissed without evidence.”

No they won't. That doesn't sell. The TV shows/newscasts just want drama and horror. “That which can be asserted without evidence, can be dismissed without evidence.”

Most apartment complexes I've been in make you fill out a damage report before you move in. Did you inspect the apt and fill one out? If so, did you mention the carpet stains? If you didn't, don't bother. tnh “That which can be asserted without evidence, can be dismissed without evidence.”

Survivors can now sue (new ruling?)
tonyhays replied to ltdiver's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
So what are they going to sue the scuba-diving company for? His equipment was found in working order with plenty of air. Family members of tragedies refuse to accept the possibility that their loved one could have caused the incident. Guess I can't blame 'em. “That which can be asserted without evidence, can be dismissed without evidence.” -
I love that show!!! I think they have it in their contract that Paul Sr. has to get pissed off at least twice an episode! “That which can be asserted without evidence, can be dismissed without evidence.”

CSPA Student training at DZ's under scrutiney?
tonyhays replied to flyinchicken's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
When tragedies like this happen, family members look for someone to blame. Rarely will they accept the fact that their loved one could be the one to blame. If you were in their shoes, could you honestly say you wouldn't be doing the same thing? It seems to be a sad, reoccuring theme of skydiving. “That which can be asserted without evidence, can be dismissed without evidence.” -
