Well, I've written an explanation regarding how my tunnel runs things any why I did what I did. How does your tunnel work?
-
Sending PM to clarify
-
I'll start by saying I don't know how your tunnel runs things, but I'll explain more. My tunnel works his way. They always have a spotter (who's also an instructor), who's obligation is only to catch you. All are willing to give you a briefing/debriefing and help you in the tunnel however. Having a coach means 2 guys in the tunnel, one to catch you and the other to demonstrate. I didn't learn to fly on my own, I made sure I had a discussion with my spotter what I could do, what I wanted to do, and what I could improve on/tell the next spotter. You also have to have take ownership of your learning. As long as you ask questions, ask for advice and make clear your goals, people are more than willing to help.

Welcome (: At the end of the day, it's your decision, and obviously as you're the only one who knows yourself, you'll make the best decision. I'm going to reply to the other posts explaining why I did what I did, so stay tuned.

Adding a Barter Section in the Classifieds
ianyapxw replied to DustyP's topic in Suggestions and Feedback
I think anyone who's willing to accept items can write it in the description, and anyone who's willing to offer can also make a deal. I feel adding a barter section will make things overly complicated. Adding a wishlist to individual profiles sounds like a much better idea, also good for gifts -
This is my favourite. It's one of the things that got me into this whole skydiving thing. I like the way it's made, the focus is on people having fun, and there's also a good mix of other things. Focus is mainly on freefly but just enough of canopy, inflatables, etc... to keep me interested

greetings from South East Asia, Singapore!
ianyapxw replied to binaryfinary's topic in Introductions and Greets
Hey, I was a regular at the Singapore tunnel and I do know some in the skydiving community there. I also know some people who go to Birds. Are you involved with Singaporean skydivers? Do I know you? edit: I'm asking because you put tunnel flying as a discipline. -
Maybe you can try calling them, or browsing facebook for appropriate people and messaging them

I do disagree with the above poster about a coach. At the end of the day, a coach (at my tunnel) forces you to fly a lot in a single day, giving you very little time to think and consolidate information. Also, there are stages where a coach won't help much, like when you're working on increasing precision and speed. I don't think a coach will necessarily help you learn faster, but may be necessary for some. At the end of the day, it is how much you are confident about taking ownership of your learning. I got to trying to do sit-fly off the net without a coach, so I can't advise you any further than that. If you've any questions, feel free to ask, can elaborate more

Singapore is about the same price as Sydney, and Genting is a quarter of that. Depending on how much time you want, I would strongly suggest going to Genting. Even only hour there let's you break even. There's should be public(?) transport from Singapore to Genting, but you'll have to look into that yourself. Dubai is relatively affordable and has good coaching, but other than that I don't know much about it.

My bad, I didn't see the breakdown in the .pdf document. All I saw was the big blue button that brings you to the calculator
-
I know everyone here's posting their numbers, but I'm curious why a justification/explanation on how this thing is calculated does not exist. I mean she can have her opinion but I'd like to see why she thinks that way (so people know how to improve). Furthermore, another canopy coach can also weigh in.

If you pull one side (hand or leg) too much, you either fly forwards/backwards into the wall (tracking position) or you spin and flip.
-
Thanks for everything! (:
-
-sigh- All I wanted to do is find out grue's opinions, not to discuss political issues, just a simple answer is what I wanted. edit: ok, read wiki, got it

Welcome (: Well I gotta say it takes practice and skill, same for flying with one arm behind your back (practice touch position). IMO pulling both legs in is more intuitive but also more dangerous.

Skydive Delmarva's Safety Day and Debut of SUPER OTTER March 8

Thanks for the explanation! -
Ahh. Sorry for living under a rock, but what's wrong with dubai? I'll assume it's similar to what's going on in most of the world (South America, China, India, most of Middle East). Underpaid workers, bad working conditions?

Curious, how does changing engines allow more people per load? Is it some weight issue?
