  1. I just cranked the decibels on that mellow tune earlier this week. It's the only one I remember from them. It's been the roughest year (so far) that I can recall for classic rockers going black.

    Getting hitched!!

Hey Nataly......I read a British study that was featured in the Washington Post and posted on the Drudge Report yesterday, entitled (or something close) "Smart people are better off with fewer friends". That could be your situation. Fresh paths ahead can be exciting and invigorating. Wish you well!
  3. I was going to say the acid (I'd forgotten all about Rhys's Jenga experiments. Holy crap that guy was awesome!) You sent me searching...Rhys's Jenga? I just knew that had to be some of that sophisticated English humor that went over the head of this Mercian country boy. After tripping over it on YouTube, while singing "Purple Haze all in my brain, lately things don't seem the same......" I came to the conclusion that Jakee is on to something, or on something. I'm leaning towards the later
  4. Well, when Alan Greenspan head of the Federal Reserve insisted there was "no real estate bubble" what were those not on the inner circle to do? Rhetorical. As a former licensed developer, and licensed builder who was active during that era (30 plus projects) I dealt with the "banksters" (major banks, hedge funds, and what I call "mystery money".....LLC's from LLC's from LLC"s). Once they saw that you could pay them back in spite of many, many obstacles such as weather stops, material issues, strikes, protests over project (NIMBY) although approved by city councils, state, and some cases fed's, politicos of all stripes at all levels coming with their hands out, osha, epa, various "clean water" grifters, inspectors of all sorts, diversity requirements, and on and on......I guess I started reliving as I'm writing.......anyway I also saw a side to this lending cabal. In my case. my "skin in the game" was the project land had to be owned by me free and clear. After that $ was just a phone call away, and minimal faxed doc's "for the record". Fortunately, I kept all $ in the projects and not a new Ferrari or two. But I was also keenly aware that a major f-up that I couldn't cover, could possibly put me on the wrong side of a late night concrete pour.......those LLC's from LLC's?
  5. Looks like a modern version of the old Gyro-Copter. An infamous skydiver lost power on his "Gyro" and auto rotated in like a rock. Broke his back in multiple locations, got healed, and went on to make thousands of jumps. But no more Gyro captaining. Looks like SPORT DEATH to me!
  6. You have exhibited two very important qualities, persistence and discipline. Not going all "Yoda"... but as a small business person, it's nice to see that. It will serve you well.
  7. Very sad, sorry for you and your family. Not to sound like a sap....under such a horrible tragedy , but smoke detectors in every bedroom and in hallways outside sleeping areas a must!! Ideally, inter-connected both 120 volt power with 9 volt battery back-up. Change ALL 9 volt batteries when you set clocks ahead in spring, and again when set back in fall. Again, condolences.

    My rig !!

From a rig you wear on your hip, to a rig you wear on your back......you've got a good run going
  9. Damn......and I always hated painting. But hey, someone has to clean up, right
  10. Dude, kudos on your writing/verbal skills. I'm envious, and I agree with EVERY word.
  11. "Armed and dangerous" Good on you! Get yourself a bunch of snap caps to safely practice dry firing. This helps you regarding trigger control, proper firearm grip, drawing from holster, movement, and many other weapons skills that can always be improved on. All this practice can be done in complete privacy and total safety (no live ammo).....and on the cheap because you aren't blowing through 100's of rounds. Although having said that.....shooting is FUN! What Ron said!! When it works in your life.....gather up a rifle, and a shotgun. You will then have the basic "package" . ".........you can't please everyone, so you have to please your self..........." Rick Nelson.
  12. To further play out your scenario....Fauxahontas then rides in on her paint, as V.P. Perhaps an unbeatable combo?

Maybe he should have been a "lifer" instead?
  15. Yes Lisa.........but that makes way too much sense

  17. You live in the far north.. get a Malamute.... the bigger the better... and get a sled... to exercise the dog.... Saw a lady at the dog park with a 9 month Malamute "puppy." It was the size of a small horse, ate 10 cups of food a day and shit like an elephant. Gorgeous dog...but very spendy. Gotta have a wheelbarrow instead of the handy poo bag for the walkies... Yup Serious Dog Logs Speaking of Malamutes.......the most bad-ass DZ dog fight I ever saw was between a very large and nasty Shepard (pissed on rigs, owner was fucked, and scared some people with his dog). In the other corner, an Alaskan Malamute very large, with a "neutral" personality, and not a rig pisser. The DZ was not big enough for these two males and when they met up one day OMG!! Hair, blood, droll, flying everywhere. The speed and power of their biting jaws incredible. When the Malamute got the advantage and was killing the Shepard , his owner jumped in and promptly got chomped on by both dogs as they were trying to kill each other, with dust flying, barking, yelling.......then the Malamute owner jumped in and got his fingers, hands, arms tore up as well. Two 150 pounds dogs in a death match. The Malamute got the Shepard's front leg joint and crunched it and then grabbed Shepard by the neck.....owners got them separated before lights out. After that we had to physically take a firearm away from a dog owner. The Shepard walked with a permanent limp and a continued bad attitude. I suppose moral of the story? Probably shouldn't have dog that out weighs you. UNLESS you are a hellofva trainer or are in a position to spend big bucks on having your dog trained.
  18. Lurch, Great rant! USA closing in on $20 trillion debt, with approx. $200 trillion in commitments (pensions, etc.) an "iceberg dead ahead". A fucking mutiny is in order to save the ship!
  19. 434 Like was pointed out by Rhaig, Ron is retired. Bernie Sanders on the other hand, can't get beyond the "socialist" label with my "so called observation group"(described in above post). The workers I described are hunters (elk, deer, moose, bear, birds) and do not trust Bernie with their second amendment rights. I'm paraphrasing......they see socialism (Bernie) as communism, that just hasn't gotten around to taking their guns yet. Also IMO, working America (these tradespeople) are tired of being called names, ridiculed for their jobs, lifestyles, the big-ass trucks they drive. As well being called bigoted, even though many of them are in mixed marriages with extended multi-racial families. Like I stated earlier "they Never vote R", so this is a new territory for them. All while their union bosses are threating them.
  20. Disclaimer: I despise politicians! My simple observation (so far), is people think the D choices are fucked, and people think the R choices are fucked. Some/majority? say "fuck it"......we know the D's and the R's will screw us, so lets give Trump (outsider) a chance. If he screws us.......we would have been fucked anyway. Most don't look at Trump as an R. But they don't care. Voting R or D has not helped most working class Americans, IMO. The politico's and their donors are nothing but self-serving, corrupt, assholes. A lot of my observations come from commercial/industrial sites composed of union workers who NEVER vote R. To me, the election looks like a real lose-lose. We do not have the crème rising to the top.........instead we have pond scum. The media narrative bears a lot of this responsibility (a whole different thread).
  21. Thank you for that information Steve.
