Day 5 update for 300 Way ??
skyboyblue replied to Cornholio's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
I can guarntee that when/if it happens, everyone will know about it. so, I'm guessing if someone hasn't posted, they're still trying. -
sure, the blonde on the right, in pic three...no problem.

I got fucked on priceline when the connecting flight home from denver was cancelled. Non-transferrable, refundable nonsense. I could barely get a voucher for a hotel. I wouldn't do it again. but if i were, I'd use hotwire to find what their lowest price is before you buy, and then go shopping elsewhere, even priceline, if I dared.

How much does it REALLY cost to SKYDIVE?
skyboyblue replied to chriswelker's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
...and I've heard, 50% of your money and 90% of your time. or something like that. -
and if you do, make sure the plane is still going at LEAST 100. then its not so bad, as long as you dont mind the canopy opening behind you instead of above you. 2k hop n pops aint so bad.

I guess I concurr with the other two posts. I've got about 210 jumps on a 149 loaded at 1.65 or so. You won't find me pulling low that's for sure. They do snivel a lot, but I rather like that when I jump camera. I don't however find a problem with steering it thru the opening. they quite often are off heading to a degree, but because they open so soft and slow, you've got time to grab a riser before it starts to fly at full speed. would like to try a xf2 for comparison. I don't know how much better it can get. sbb

This isn't that far off the radar. University of nebraska at Lincoln already has one class that way. just wish, then again maybe not, that I hadn't graduated so early http://www.dailynebraskan.com/vnews/display.v/ART/2002/12/05/3deed0c288185?in_archive=1

Suit Ordering Help: Swoop Cords/Inseam Grips
skyboyblue replied to jfields's topic in Gear and Rigging
I don't have inseam grips, although I've jumped my RW suit twice the past season. I guess it depends on how hard core you are. look around your dz. If a lot of people who'll you'll be jumping around have them, chances are they turn formations using them at some point. might be handy for you too then. that continuous swoop cord thing is supposed to be handy if you need some wing under one arm and not the other. just my .02 sbb -
hello iowa....so where ya from? sbb

i started instructing because i wanted to be the first person a student would see in freefall showing them they can actually fly. and then smile back at them. I remember when it was the other way around, how cool that was to me. to give back what my JM's gave to me, to feed my addiction, joy of watching people progress, chicks....all reasons I started instructing. mainly chicks though...hehe sbb

I find it strange from both camps here. I bet you guys weren't singing that tune when you beat oklahoma this year. although the last 4 years the wins have been getting less and less. on the other hand who would have thought boise state would be top 15 and nebraska unranked...well, i guess lots of us did, many jumped the bandwagon up here. Its crazy how a team in the rose bowl last year is in the gutter this year. that's college football parody for ya. I honestly don't think either team will be much better off after the firings sbb

no texas is a top ranked team, they ouhgt to beat the ags. Nebraska is unranked....THEY helped you out. you can buy me a jump ticket later. sbb

I'm surprised no one has mention kittinger so far. A lot of whuffo's I know mentioned his jump. although, I don't recall anyone remembering his name, and for that matter, knowing what altitude he bailed from. I usually get some absurd altitude like 20 miles, from the ones that mention it. But they do tend to remember he broke the sound barrier sbb

Standing up rear riser landings
skyboyblue replied to scott2002's topic in Swooping and Canopy Control
I'm pretty sure that rear risers aren't going to slow you down enough to tip toe in. Correct me if I wrong, but they are used more to plane the canopy out for swooping purposes. you'll lose speed eventually but if you use rear risers, you flatten out the glide, thus going a bit further hopefully. I wouldn't use rears to pull myself out of a dive, but if you use them the proper way, and then transistion to your toggles to finish the flare off, you'll get some nice results. even with a lightly loaded crossfire. I'm sure hooknswoop will chime in eventually with some hardcore details. sbb
