  4. Thanks Jeff, I just emailed them last week and got a friendly response. I was asking about the annual September night jumps, but they said they hadn't set the dates yet... Maybe you could let us know when those are set?
  5. I'll let you borrow my sabre 1 if you want to know what a fast opening is like.
  6. In fairness, a number of us have mentioned just that in other threads on here. That (what you said), plus the fact that if you as a tourist get caught up in their their byzantine legal system you are so, so majorly fucked. I really can't see myself ever spending my tourist or skydiving dollars in Dubai (and possibly Thailand, too, for example), and these are the reasons why. What's the problem with Thailand?
  7. I am not a TI, I have no dog in this fight. I am just a pilot, giving my opinion... This is quite the circlejerk, but I think strato is correct. You will hold your DL until it expires, so because it has an expiration it is a straw man arguement. A skydiving license has no expiration. Looking at another FAA situation: I will always hold an ATPL regardless of my currency or medical status. Of course for me to be PIC I would need to have a valid medical, but only because it says that in the FAR. As far as I have seen, there is nothing in the FAR that says a medical is required to be a TI.
  8. RI's website says the Vc1 is for a 135? http://www.rigginginnovations.com/Pages/Containers/CurvVolumeChart.pdf
  9. oooohhh tell me tell me! I promise I won't tell anyone! I live in Hong Kong and would have loved to go to Palau if I had be into skydiving early enough.

  11. Skydance in Davis, CA does HALO from 30k and regular loads from 18k.
  12. ... You have to turn it on for it to work.

  14. This. Can someone else with a G3 check theirs? On the bottom left my visor says: COOKIE G2 V2 VSR
  15. My son is 2... so I don't think that qualifies as a data point yet... but he loves to jump off of stuff. So you're saying this is your first child? You know what that means.
  16. The FAA doesn't investigate plane crashes either. That's the NTSB. When there is a plane accident I, as an airline transport pilot, recognize tons and tons of errors by the media and the "expert" guests they have on their shows. The NTSB often takes well over a year to publish the report... Having a regulatory body do investigations would do nothing to stop immediate speculation. I can't remember who said it, but basically: we recognize all the misinformation that the media puts out because we're very familiar with the subject... but when they report on the economy or the war we take it as fact.
  17. So he wants you to have physics and calculations... But all he has is a feeling?
  18. If someone who reads Korean doesn't show up, I'd guess your best bet is to just try and call them and see if someone picks up.
  19. Thanks Chris. Burnaby isn't out of the question for sure. We are near the airport, so it's not much further than the others. I guess I will probably write them all the week before and see who is flying what.
  20. Hello! I will be in the GTA for a week at the end of May, I was wondering what the best DZ would be to do some funjumping. Who has the best airplanes this season and who moves the most loads? I will have a car so i can get around. Thanks.. I tried to use the search, but there was nothing recent. Blue Skies.
  21. People have complained about tandems and sure they do as many tandems as they can... that is what is going to pay for the place to stay open. I get that. They can take 8 jumpers, that mean 2 tandems and video, which means to fun jumpers can get on every load, minimum. But you have to speak up! The atmosphere was comfortable and was very inclusive from the beginning. I think where the complainers go wrong is they are not proactive at the DZ, they are not ready for loads and do not speak up to get on the board... they want everything to be done for them. All the instructors know what's going on and are super experienced, Jonny, Troy and Slava are good guys, but huge respect for Jonny Guru, the place wouldn't be what it is if he wasn't there.
