Compatability between 300D and 400D XTi
garywainwright replied to freefalljason's topic in Photography and Video
I think the batteries are different. The 350D is definately a different battery to the 300D and I think the 400D uses the same battery as the 350D. Hope this helps http://www.garywainwright.co.uk Instagram gary_wainwright_uk -
Left or Right Eye for your Ring Sight
garywainwright replied to kMaN175's topic in Photography and Video
I'm right eye dominant but have my sight over my left eye with no problems - Norman Kents advice is to have your sight on the opposite side to your pilot chute http://www.garywainwright.co.uk Instagram gary_wainwright_uk -
I only tend to do it with a couple of TMs who have a really consistent count in the door - its great for getting the students face on the pic though! http://www.garywainwright.co.uk Instagram gary_wainwright_uk

Heres one from the front float step of a caravan with the Canon 15mm on an XT. It gives you a good idea of how wide it is. I think the canon is definately worth an extra $80 http://www.garywainwright.co.uk Instagram gary_wainwright_uk

How about drinking as much water as you possibly can about an hour before you go up then pissing yourself as you fly down the course? http://www.garywainwright.co.uk Instagram gary_wainwright_uk -

Hi lolla Well done for dealing with the problem! There is a Cypres promo video that shows somebody not dealing with this situation who is on his side until the Cypres fires. Is it possible for somebody to take a photo of how you were wearing the suit and post it on here? I think i know what you mean - i just cannot believe that you were advised to wear the suit this way. gary http://www.garywainwright.co.uk Instagram gary_wainwright_uk

Still Camera Lens Recommendation for Canon Rebel XT
garywainwright replied to freeflyfreak27's topic in Photography and Video
I started off with a tokina ATX 17mm to try and save money. It was OK but not quite wide enough and i always felt the results were not quite as sharp as i would like. Then bought a zenitar 16mm (again trying to save money) and its actually OK and wide enough but i occasionally get some strange results with it. I then bought a canon ef 15mm which I love. Moral - i spent a lot of money trying to 'save' money! A friend gets very nice results with his sigma 15mm and i believe the 10 - 22mm canon zoom is also nice but i would rather have a prime lens for skydiving. hope this helps gary http://www.garywainwright.co.uk Instagram gary_wainwright_uk -
Trying to Figure Out What to Buy
garywainwright replied to jumpjunkie2004's topic in Photography and Video
I've read some comparative reviews in photography mags and the D70s comes out just in front. Its not all about pixels! I also had quite a few Nikon lenses, flashguns etc but i switched to canon about a month before the D70s was announced I'm very happy with my XT/350D though for skydiving - it just feels like a toy on the ground. http://www.garywainwright.co.uk Instagram gary_wainwright_uk -

Tony C Wing SUit or Alternatives?
garywainwright replied to gmac324's topic in Photography and Video
I've had a merlin suit and currently got a Tony. The tony C wing can be attached via fastec clips (standard) or rsl shackles - no velcro on either. I have the rsl shackles and had loops sewn on my legstraps to attach them to. I find with the C wing my sit is more upright than with the merlin and definately easier for tandems when you need to be close. I always felt i was lying back much more in the merlin suit. The Tony suit is very well made and should last a long time. I jump the c wing jacket with the cargo pants. hope this helps gary http://www.garywainwright.co.uk Instagram gary_wainwright_uk -
I was also on a tight budget when i went digital so i decided to buy the best glass i could, then see what was left for a body (i was changing from Nikon so my previous lenses would not work) I took that shot with the canon 15mm lens, TV at 1/500th, manual focus and went with ISO 200 as I felt we might just be starting to lose the light. The camera selected F8 glad you like the pic! regards gary http://www.garywainwright.co.uk Instagram gary_wainwright_uk

Glad you like it! 1/80th sec with the crappy canon kit lens at 35mm, f5, ISO 400. The flash gun makes the shot - I forgot to set it to rear curtain but was still quite pleased. gary http://www.garywainwright.co.uk Instagram gary_wainwright_uk -
