Katana 107 beats a RAGE 107 hands down in my humble opinion. The Rage is very nice though, just that the Katana rocks! http://www.garywainwright.co.uk Instagram gary_wainwright_uk

best canopy for camera flyer??
garywainwright replied to StevePhelps's topic in Photography and Video
i find my spectre just snaps me slightly at the end of the snivel. Both Bruno Brokken and Craig O'brien jump spectres with dacron for their heavier set ups - bruno told me that dacron elimates that 'snap'. http://www.garywainwright.co.uk Instagram gary_wainwright_uk -
best canopy for camera flyer??
garywainwright replied to StevePhelps's topic in Photography and Video
If you're going to have a spectre consider having a dacron lineset - just be aware that it will increase the pack volume. http://www.garywainwright.co.uk Instagram gary_wainwright_uk -
lost everything this weekend
garywainwright replied to treetopflyer's topic in Photography and Video
My spectre just snaps slightly at the end of the snivel. I'm told that if you have a dacron lineset the openings are much more comfortable. My velocity knocked me out about 3 weeks ago - it was a bit weird coming round under canopy! Didn't lose my camera helmet though. http://www.garywainwright.co.uk Instagram gary_wainwright_uk -
Anybody ever fly a freefly suit with a camera wing?
garywainwright replied to BlindBrick's topic in Photography and Video
Talk to the most experienced cameraflyer at your DZ about the camera wings - they make a huge difference! Here in the UK you wouldn't be able to jump it until 200 jumps (i think) as its classed as 'auxillary' equipment. Seriously show it to your top camera guy and get a thorough briefing. (oh yeah - have fun too!) http://www.garywainwright.co.uk Instagram gary_wainwright_uk -
Good canopy for learning to swoop?
garywainwright replied to tetra316's topic in Swooping and Canopy Control
Whats wrong with learning to swoop your Sabre2 135? http://www.garywainwright.co.uk Instagram gary_wainwright_uk -
Have you tried just not using one? I used to have a light diode gaffer taped on the front of my camera but it broke years ago and i never got round to replacing it. For the last 1500 camera jumps or so i've used nothing and haven't yet missed a video (i hope i haven't jinxed myself!) Just be confident that you have pressed the record button - particularly if you only use the camera for fun. http://www.garywainwright.co.uk Instagram gary_wainwright_uk

Digital Conversion Factor Mystery
garywainwright replied to garywainwright's topic in Photography and Video
I think my 35mm cam has 92% coverage through the viewfinder. What lens are you using with the D70? http://www.garywainwright.co.uk Instagram gary_wainwright_uk -
Digital Conversion Factor Mystery
garywainwright replied to garywainwright's topic in Photography and Video
We all know that this is 1.6 for Canon, 1.5 for nikon. I held my friends Canon XT with 15mm EF lens (1.6x15=24mm) against my nikon film camera with a 24mm lens and the canon was significantly wider (i would estimate 21mm) In fact my Nikon with 24mm was only fractionally wider than the XT with the kit lens at 18mm (almost 29mm in 35mm terms with the 1.6 factor). Has anybody else noticed this? http://www.garywainwright.co.uk Instagram gary_wainwright_uk -
Is anyone using the Zenitar 16mm with the D70? If so are there any issues regarding this? My understanding is that you have to go totally manual - it won't even do aperture priority. Is this true? http://www.garywainwright.co.uk Instagram gary_wainwright_uk

"To all UK people - Jessops have got them now. £698 with a kit lens" Wait for 7dayshop to get them. They are currently selling the 300D at £449, 10D for £699 and 20D at £925 (i see these go for more than this on ebay all the time!) http://www.garywainwright.co.uk Instagram gary_wainwright_uk

more "out of the blue" mountain swooping footage?

BPA canopy progression system unveiled.
garywainwright replied to yoink's topic in Swooping and Canopy Control
2 points; Does anybody know if the criteria for CH1 include intentional downwind landings? I think they should as i believe we have to take the fear out of landing the 'wrong way' I can't remember the last injury i saw out of intentional swooping - most things I see are people trying to get back from a poor spot and and turning too low. gary PS I think the current amount of carve is 30-60 degrees http://www.garywainwright.co.uk Instagram gary_wainwright_uk -
Best Performance wingloading....
garywainwright replied to vdschoor's topic in Swooping and Canopy Control
I found performance tailing off above 1.8. (1300 jumps on a 135 at 1.7 - 100 jumps on a 120 at 1.9) Stilettos are great but they have such a short recovery arc that can make it tough when you switch to something else (i did a training camp doing back to backs with a Xaos21-108, and a stiletto 120) Have fun! gary http://www.garywainwright.co.uk Instagram gary_wainwright_uk -
Too cold mate!! (Having said that, Martin Reynolds broke the ICE on the Lilo pond over Xmas - Dangerpantz strikes again!) http://www.garywainwright.co.uk Instagram gary_wainwright_uk

I haven't seen bruno for a while but i know that he ditched the sigma because he basically much preferred the results he saw with the canon. I aint no photographer but his opinion is good enough for me! I should be seeing him at Lake Wales in February so i'll get the specifics then. gary http://www.garywainwright.co.uk Instagram gary_wainwright_uk

hi Brian, Spend a bit extra and get the canon 15mm 2.8 Wait till we are in lake wales and its about £320 (£450 is the best UK price i've found) With the conversion factor it works out at about a 24mm in 35mm terms. I know Bruno started with the 300D and sigma 15mm but hes ditched the sigma for the canon. See ya soon! (are you going to the AGM?) gary gary http://www.garywainwright.co.uk Instagram gary_wainwright_uk
