    Pete Rose

QuoteI'll say this. It hasn't been proven or suggested that he did anything wrong as a player. I think 4,000 hits is a Hall of Fame statistic. I agree, AND his 4000 hits are immortalized in the Hall of Fame, the Ball, the Bat the Uniform, are all there with his name all over them. His "PLAY" is immortalized in the hall in a few different areas. What is missing his is "Bust" with Plaque on the second floor of the Hall. There is was post stating he never fixed a game, maybe, maybe not.. never been proven so I'd like to believe NOT, BUT he has admitted to betting on his own team. Someone asked, "What's wrong with that" Well think about it, if you were his bookie and you take his bets. The day he doesn't bet for his team to win, that alone gives you enough info that Pete knew the match-up didn't fair well for his team and although he always believed he'd win, on those days he did not bet on his team he must have believed there was a good enough chance they would lose. Now the bookie has this info, makes a few calls on a "tip" that the reds will lose and whalaaaaa. You can see the HUGE conflict that creates. He broke the cardinal law posted in every locker room in all of major league club houses, A Ball through the Majors. NO GAMBLING ON BASEBALL That being said, when he was banned for life by Bart G. there was no rule by the Baseball Hall of Fame stating Banned players can not be inducted in the hall. That rule was only instated the year before Pete would have ben eligiable. Since the Hall and MLB are run by separate entities, even if Pete was reinstated, the Hall still has the final desicion on who gets in, and the way his latest pub has been and the outspeak of the voting members already in the hall. He will NEVER get it even if Selic (spelling) decided today to fully reinstate him into baseball. The senior member will doubtfully ever vote him in. Just my 2 cents worth. SMA#18

  7. What an aweful thing to have to go through. I agree with Skymama, we all live (well I assume a large majority of us do) on a budget. I can only recommend a PayPal accunt be established for donations for the instructors to help recoup their gear if the DZ insurance doesn't cover it. It's easy to do and if only DZ.com'ers throw a few bucks in the account I am sure it will add up quickly. I know personally, I would be more than happy to donate my next weekends jump budget to help. If there is no one wanting to establish this right now due to the overwhelming emotional state of mind that must be ringing through the Elsinore family, I'd be more than happy. I personally have only been through Elsinore once driving from San Diego to Northern Cal but did not get to jump due to weather, none the less I got to sit and chat with a few people and everyone that was there made me feel welcome. I am sincerely saddened to ehar, but very happy there was no one hurt. There will be Blue Skies above Elsinore again soon, the place is to wonderful for there not to be. SMA#18

  13. I completely concur, I love my Odessey, the way it fits and looks. The delivery time was HORRID!!! and now with the price increase it's pricy. If I had to go with a new container right now, I'd definately look into an Infinity and actually I've done some research and reading on Areodynes new ICON. Intrigued about what I read and hear about it. SMA#18
  14. Very NICE... gorgeous!!!! The rig is pretty nice looking also! SMA#18

    Skydive Taft

Skyduve Taft is out there in no where, You either have to be very lost to be there or really WANT to be there. If you're lost and find yourself in Taft, you've been lost a long time and to proud to ask directions! The Owner, Dave, is a great guy. To me, has always come accross and a person who can balance the fact that he's still running a business and doing all he can to provide a great and fun atmosphere. Two Cessna 182's on site, one pretty to look at, one that will soon be pretty to look at. We all know rides to altitude in a 182 are less than fast, but they're friendly! Get there early to get some fun jumps in before the tandems and AFF take all the slots. Great coaches are always avail. and they always ensure you feel welcome as soon as you set foot on the DZ. Dave has done a lot of recent work making the place look nice, Corky and Bloody Nick just set up one nice pro shop and rigging hangar. Top Notch set up and you really get your bang for your buck when they repack your reserve. Call Corky for details. Don't get me wrong, I've been to and jumped and the biggest DZ's and love them, but there is something pretty special about the smaller DZ's that the bigger DZ's just can't capture. Oh and I don't care what you hear about 182's.. I've had many a jump over 11.5 and 12K in his 182's. Bonus.. Dave is running a Super King Air on the weekends from 12/5/03 through I THINK sometime in March, 12 minute turn around times!! Call for details!
  17. That's hilarious! SMA#18
  18. I'm in... Friday and maybe Sunday SMA#18
  19. I'm allowed my opinion also... and my opinion was simply (and actually to no one in particular although it was in repsonse to the anti-america vote) if you live here and do not like it here you can always leave and if you need help doing so I'd be more than happy to provide any info or help I can. In his case he lives in Europe, his thread should have asked European or anti-european SMA#18
  20. I ordered mine in May and got it last week in Sep. SMA#18
  21. That's a sweet ass rig! Congrats man. Here's mine SMA#18
  22. That's what makes the US so wonderful, you can express your opionions openly and honestly. To that note, my opinion is... please let me know the closest international airport to you and I will provide you with the directions to it, a moving company to come and pick up your stuff and the closest DZ (and your first jump ticket) in what ever new country you choose to live! Just my very humble (21 year military vet) opinion. Blue skies SMA#18
  23. OMG that image will haunt my thoughts forever! SMA#18
