You guys should contact Bill von Novak. I know he frequents this boogie - I ran into him there last year - maybe he can organize a DZ.com jump. Would love to have been there... Safe swoops Sangiro

Bwaahahahahaaa! Hey guys - just so you know, I've been following this thread. Have someone in Ireland to give me a quote in the next few days, but it may be good to get one in the US as well. I'll continue to work with mountainman and a few other folks to see if we can make this happen for once and for all..... I'd like to see a few more designs though.....

Heya all, I have decided to take a few steps to ensure the tone in these forums remain what we've always intended them to be. The intend has always been, and still is, to create a friendly and inviting environment that will make anyone and everyone welcome regardless of their level of experience (on the web or in skydiving), personal views or background. I will not allow these forums to go the same route as rec.skydiving. I have said this many times before and nothing has change that idea. I have also made it clear in the past that I accept the fact that it will not be possible to please everyone, some people will not like what I'm saying or how these forums are managed and wil leave. Although I regret that I accept it. These forums will be a cool and friendly place to be (like skydivers are!) or they will not be at all. I've noticed more and more folks acting out as what people in emails to me have called the "Dropzone.com Police". This does not exist, nor will it. I don't care how long you've been posting to these forums, if you launch personal attacks on people just because you don't like them or the things they have to say - then you're out of line. Here's a good rule of thumb, the moment you start talking about someone, in stead of to someone, you need to be careful. The moment you start sounding like the schoolyard bully, you may be treading on thin ice. You do not have the right to any of these things because you've been here for a long time - that's a skygod attitude which is not welcome on my Dropzone! Nobility is not a birthright, it's defined by one's actions. As for our new fiends - remember, some people have been here for a long time. Just like in any community, it's always a good idea to hang around a bit, get to know the people and what makes them tick. You will be accepted with open arms. But fools rush in where angels fear to tread. Over the next couple of weeks I'll approach a few individuals and ask for their help in moderating this forum. I'll ask people who I've come to trust and who I believe understands and values the kind of community we're trying to build here. I hope we'll act in a way so their help is never needed. My time has unfortunately become too limited and these forums too large for me to cover all the threads. Unfortunately some pretty nasty discussions have been allowed to carry on for way too long because of that. I need the help. As I said in the past, I'll always have a light hand in moderating these forums and that's what I'll expect from them as well. I'm confident this is a step in the right direction. Expect a few more changes. I'm an email away if you guys need to get hold of me!

Heya all, Been receiving a load of emails asking what I'm up to. It's good to be missed! Things are pretty crazy over here in London. I've jumped straight onto a pretty demanding project which has me working late hours. I'm living out of my suit-cases in a corporate apartment but should be moving into my own digs at the en of the month. I don't have a PC set-up to work from at home yet and my work laptop does not have a copy of the full site on it.....blah, blah bla! So, just wanted to ensure you that I'm trying my best to get things sorted and to get myself setup to be able to plough some time into hanging out with you again. I've been talking to someone who will be helping me move the site to a new server - as you have noticed this one has become too slow. That's a pretty high priority at the moment for me. I have a few other upgrades and updates in the pipeline but more about that as they start to take shape! I appreciate your patience. Hope all is well - I'm on here every day - and I'll be back soon to play. In the meantime, have fun!

spectre230 and biguns asked me to remove all their posts from these forums and delete their registrations. They were not censored. I reserve the right not to delete any of your posts even if you ask me. If you don't want stuff to be on here, best not to post it in the fist place. I also reserve the right to remove any post even if you don't ask me

First off, I'd like to extend my deepest sympathy and condolences to everyone who've been directly and indirectly affected by the tragic events of the past few days through the loss of loved ones and friends. My thoughts are with you. To all the people of America who graciously hosted me for almost four years and who extended to me all their freedoms and liberties without reservation - stand tall, you are a great people. I expect that in the aftermath of events as tragic as these that different people will react in different ways. I also expect to see and feel some friction in the forums. I'm going to tolerate some of that, but only as long as it doesn't threaten to destroy the fiber and character of the community that we've built here. I hope everyone will continue to act with dignity and respect, even when we disagree, and that this community will be part of the solution and not part of the problem. I'll not have it any other way. This discussion is over - feel free to continue with it in private, not on my forums. Safe swoops Sangiro

First time since these forums were created that someone actually bumped skreamer from the top spot..... the Zenmeister strikes back! Safe swoops Sangiro

I'd like to support Alan in this. David, there is nothing in your post that substantiates your claim. I have a hard time understanding the purpose of your post except to spread rumors. Please refrain from doing that here. Without facts this accident "confirms" absolutely nothing about the Crossfire. It merely confirms that skydiving is a dangerous sport.... Safe swoops Sangiro

I've made it over. I'll be dragging my ass to a bed to sleep off my jet-lag and will pop in to chat soon. Keep it real.

Gerald, Sad to hear about this accident - particularly because Desert Skydivers in Windhoek is where I started skydiving. My condolences to her family and friends. I believe your emergency procedures ends with “right, left” to get the silk out…

Where are you guys trying to send the PMs from? Clicking on the person's name and then clicking on Send a PM? Or, are you going to your control panel and clicking on Send PM? Just checking.... Safe swoops Sangiro

I have no idea what's causing this! I'll keep looking for more clues.... Safe swoops Sangiro

Justin, I don't know too much about HTML (hehehehe) but here are a couple of high-level things to keep in mind when trying to build a Netscape compatible site: 1) Close your tags! Netscape will often simply not execute a tag that hasn't been closed. I.e. Open a tag, and if you don't close it there's a good chance that table won' show up. Open a tag and don't close it and there's a good chance the whole body of the document won't show up..... 2) Use stylesheets sparsely. NS and IE interprets stylesheets differently - even from version to version. If you use stylesheets, which you do, you may need to check which browser is requesting a page and pass a different set of stylesheets to the browser. General advice is too keep it relatively simple in the beginning - stay away from too much JS and use stylesheets for simple tasks only. Good luck and have fun! (It's looking good!
