  1. Unless you were the person in the car, this doesnt really apply to you.
  2. Attempt of a bad joke? Whats the point? Want people to come with stupid oneliners when you die? Even looks like he is being shot before the car takes off and that it is just a result of his dead foot sitting on the gas pedal.
  3. According to earlier comments this is just a case of us not knowing how police work has to be done. We couldnt possibly imagine how threatened all of these officers (many times several vs one) must have felt by allready cuffed "suspects".
  4. The man out weighed her by 100lbs, was a little bit crazy, and had a knife. What would you consider a "practical alternative?" Semantics aside on whether I chose the best phrase (maybe I didn't?), I've not had military or tactical training, so I'll defer to professional experts in the field such as TriGirl and Winsor. Their posts seem instructive. Not to mention the fact that MOST guys I'm regularly in contact with also outweigh me by 100 lbs. My post still stands. No, this woman did not have a firearm. No, she did not have any other tactical training (that we're aware of -- or even firearms training that we're aware of). I've also escaped from a relationship with a guy who would probably was capable of going this far, had I stuck around much longer (well before I had any of this training). I say all this because it goes to show that I've been there, and still insist simply having a gun would have given her very little increased chance for survival (or taking him out with her). Bottom line -- he wanted her dead. He could have chosen from a long list of ways to make that happen, and she could have chosen from a long list of ways to mitigate that. Would a firearm have helped her if he had messed with her car? Set an IED? No. Could it have helped her in the situation that actually went down? Yes, it is possible; but not probable. To imply (as the headline did) that the SOLE reason he was able to kill her was because she was still waiting for a permit is, as I said before, both absurd and irresponsible. Well, I would submit to you that if she had been allowed to get her firearm in a reasonable amount of time (which would have allowed her time to train, 2 months waiting remember) it would have increased her odds of survival, if even a little. As it sits now, she's dead. As the statistics in the links someone provided in the church shooting thread said - the probablility for her death would have increased with a gun for the reasons TriGirl listed... The statistics said that there is a much higher risk that the gun is used against her by her ex than her defending herself with it.
  5. As far as i know, churches does not pay taxes in the US. Its obvious to me what kind of people this will attract and how this "business" would shape up.
  6. Well, thank you for the lesson. I'll keep it in mind. However, based on actual data the most likely life/death situation I'm likely to encounter BY FAR is while skydiving or Scuba diving and I don't think your advice will help. Atleast it would look cool if you went in while spraying bullets into the air with two guns... Im wondering how people get into these life and death situations in the first place, im gonna guess it wouldnt have been a life or death situation if you hadnt pulled a gun out yourself. (Obviously excluding these one in a couple of hundred of millions chances of being in this church for example) You cant expect to live with a 0% chance of dying.
  7. English as a second language :P Luckily i speak 4 other languages better.
  8. How does people get into college in the US without the ability to write correctly? It isnt a professors job to correct grammar because that should not be such a huge problem by then. The system failed by letting these students pass highschool.
  9. I guess people are more comfortable with having illegal thugs around them than legal thugs. (No, far from all cops are bad, but enough cops do bad shit with thier collegues passivly supporting them.) They have to become as good snitches as they want everyone else to be.
  10. I dont agree with the riots, never said i had. I commented on your posts where you refered to a comment which compared blacks to monkeys with a picture. You can pull as much statistics from that video posted in another thread as you want aswell - almost every statistic mentioned in that video is so missleading and bias that it makes me feel more tierd thinking about it then my assignment i got at work to move an ICU within 4 weeks to a different location in the same allready packed hospital due to some emergency renovations. I dont know why i read the speakers corner subforum, its lows even beats the youtube comments.
  11. Sounds good and all, hold up most of the times. Bombing muslims, muslims bombing other ect. The people of the french revulotion would probably disagree though. Not to sound insulting, but do you have any opinions or thoughts of your own to add?
  12. Looks a bit like this picture aswell - difference is that it was over a hockey game instead. https://cutoruncut.files.wordpress.com/2011/06/riot33.jpg But i guess comparing black people to monkeys can bring some joy to people who have no personal qualities to amplify then the fact that they were born white. Riots are bad mkay... in 99% of cases.
  13. Im not sure if you guys are just making jokes or not. Kid with ~25 teachers names on a list comes to school with a crossbow (must i remind you that a crossbow fires once, then anyone can basicly run up to him and punch the little sucker in the face if they wanted) he is forced to start finishing his molotov cocktail and thats when a teacher comes over to stop him with a stick but it simply ends with them both dropping thier weapons. Now how can you possibly think that an assault rifle wouldnt have done a "better" job here? No time to think or change your mind - drop 5 people a second if you are "lucky". Maybe i just dident get your irony, in that case ignore this post.
  14. "It was the first time that a teacher has been killed at a school in Spain since 1975."' In the same article. Also, he got the weapons from his fathers collection. (crossbow and knifes) Imagine if his father had a collection of assault rifles...
  15. The difference of a bad and a good cop, know when to break the rules?
  16. Now, i will admit that i havent had time or energy to read this but "the blob" doesnt scream scientific. Hasnt there allways been a warm water stream on the west coast? The reason Vancouver pretty much never has snow if i remember correctly.
  17. And in reply to myself, the reason i mention Norway is because they decided to stay out of the EU by choise, as did Switzerland. Many of the other countries in Europe that isnt in the EU yet havent been accepted and/or dont meet the demands.
  18. "euro dollars"? No you cannot pay with euros in GB as they only use the british pound. Euros or not doesnt define if a country is european, the countries that uses the euro are a part of the EMU. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Economic_and_Monetary_Union_of_the_European_Union A country within europe doesnt have to be in the EMU or even the EU (See Norway). A public voting within the country usually decides this. A country can also be in the EU but not the EMU, the example i can come with from my head is Sweden. Countries within Europe usually trade in euros with each other. What is the EU? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/European_Union The EMU link accually covered the EU and EMU countries pretty well i just noticed.
  19. I have to laugh at the way they come "running" like pinguins and join in on the kicking only so that they can be a part of the gang. Same mentality that keeps them from reporting each other even when its not a groupbeating.
  20. Wouldnt it make sense? Some guy sneaks a bullet into a weapon, next guy may be a dummy and wanna test-pull the trigger.
  21. I never said it mitigated ANYTHING, but the statement is very true. If one looks at trends in all the recent "incidents" there is one very large reoccurring theme. ALL the recent situations absolutely would have different outcomes if there was compliance. In this case there is no mitigation of the situation, the officer was COMPLETELY wrong in his actions and will pay a heavy price. To take your analogy a step further; A pilot knowingly flies an airplane with a timed-out engine and it crashes, do think the FAA would cut him any slack from a causational standpoint? We both know the answer to that question. I'm looking at this issue in the same unemotional way, hard facts and factors, period. A pilot recently intentionally crashed an airplane (from all indications) and killed over 100 people, yet there is not a thread bashing pilots. This is no different, this officer just made my job more difficult. I'm curious to see his service record, there are usually red flags from previous incidents. This guy could be a "bad apple" or he could have made an incredibly bad and potentially criminal decision. The facts will come out, and I'll call a spade a spade if the need be. Either way this guy is done, and from all appearances should be. How is this even remotely the same thing? If you wanna compare that crash with the work of a cop the closest thing would probably be a cop taking his assualtrifle to a shoppingmal, shoot 20 people and then off himself. Pilots doesnt have monopoly on violence, They dont investigate thier own incidents They dont have a history of covering thier own killings up The Police work as a group and cover things up as a group. When things like this comes to surface its gonna hit the whole force because it is obvious that these things happen but sure as fuck wont be reported by the police themselves. In these cases the police looks more like a criminal gang and the pilot is still a loony who dodged and covered up his illness. I dont see many similarities in pilots and police officers apart from the fact that they both are spelled with a "p".
  22. Cars are used to make our world go around, guns dont really fill the same practical use in our daily lives. Im not even sure that you are serious when trying to compare the two or not.
  23. That's because they're all wearing ghillie suits. Maybe im just to tierd but iv been laughing for 2 hours at this now.
  24. Shows the amount of logic behind cannabis bans... Its to dangerous for you to smoke that joint! So lets just burn a massive amount of this "deathdrug" right next to us.
