  1. Team Future was amazing to watch. The tunnel looked even bigger with them in there. Thanks to Mick and Plamer for helping me some more with my HD. I had a blast. I don't know when I will have the $$$ to come back, but hopefully it will be sooner rather than later. Thanks to Paige for coming up to celebrate my birthday with me!! Thanks to Jadyn and Lisa for being my first TPM inductees!!! What a rockin' weekend. jenn Tunnel Junkie Since November 2005! ;o)~ TPM #46 Paraclete XP TPM Delegate
  2. Hey Stormy, I am sure they thought it was terrible just like the rest of us do!!! Hehehe. It's a lot different than a Flyaway tunnel, but I am sure they loved the air and the awesome staff. jenn Tunnel Junkie Since November 2005! ;o)~ TPM #46 Paraclete XP TPM Delegate
  3. Totally awesome video. I can't wait to see Kayla and Justin flying this weekend at XP!!! jenn Tunnel Junkie Since November 2005! ;o)~ TPM #46 Paraclete XP TPM Delegate

  5. Don't forget: http://www.bodyflightnetwork.com It is a site that contains information about wind tunnels around the world, as well as a feature that lets you log your tunnel time to help you keep track. Oh, and I almost forgot, there is extensive information about the history of human flight and of tunnels that once were, but are no more. It is a very interesting site! jenn Tunnel Junkie Since November 2005! ;o)~ TPM #46 Paraclete XP TPM Delegate
  6. The recirculation of XP keeps the tunnel warm. There will be no need at all to bundle up. When I was there last month, I was actually a little too warm during one of my flights and all I had on under my suit was shorts and a T-shirt. Have a great time!!! jenn Tunnel Junkie Since November 2005! ;o)~ TPM #46 Paraclete XP TPM Delegate
  7. Something that I found out last February when I flew in Orlando when it was *gasp* below freezing outside (it was colder in Orlando than in Virginia where I live) was that Thermacare heat wraps placed around your back, on your neck, etc can do wonders at also helping you keep warm. AND, there is a Walgreen's right across the street that carries said Thermacare Heat Wraps. I would have to say, Heat Wraps, my gloves, and my neck warmer were the ONLY reason that I was able to stand the cold and fly. I hope that helps. jenn Tunnel Junkie Since November 2005! ;o)~ TPM #46 Paraclete XP TPM Delegate
  8. Did anyone see the recent airing of the Mythbusters that contained Wind Tunnel footage? I think they were flying at iFly in San Francisco. I think it is super cool that there was information about wind tunnels on such a main stream TV show. Was anyone there when they flew? They seemed to LOVE it. jenn Tunnel Junkie Since November 2005! ;o)~ TPM #46 Paraclete XP TPM Delegate
  9. Yummy! This tunnel is unimaginatively large! And unimaginatively fast! As I was playing around in there, I was thinking about how it would not be unreasonable to have two sets of people in there each doing their own thing without running into one another. The staff is spectacular and everyone is very friendly. My friends and I split 6 hours this past weekend (no, I don't really want to talk about how my body feels right now). Having the space and the speed makes fantastic coaching even more effective. As I sit here typing this, I am thinking of ways to come up with the money to go fly again. I had been flying mostly at SkyVenture Orlando and AAC until this point, but I think it might be time to change my "home" tunnel. Also, BIG props to Mick for helping me to comfortably get to a point in the tunnel that I thought was dozens of hours away. His abilities to read a student and give the exact coaching they need are uncanny. He knows how to push students just far enough that they feel comfortable, but are doing things that they didn't know they could. And, he is super enthusiastic and genuinely elated when he sees how happy his students are learning new skills. Thanks Paraclete XP, Mick and Kim for coaching our group this weekend and Lisa for kidnapping me and taking me to the tunnel. jenn Tunnel Junkie Since November 2005! ;o)~ TPM #46 Paraclete XP TPM Delegate
  10. Hi MB38, My husband also has a bum neck. He suffered a football injury when he was a teen and then aggravated his neck to the point that he slipped a disc from a hard opening 3.5 or so years ago. He had surgery to "fix" it, but it was never quite right after that. He has jumped a few times since the surgery, but never felt like it was quite right for him to take the risk. He has been flying in the tunnel since 10/03 and has about 5 hours. He has NEVER had additional pain or problems from flying. In fact, he very much enjoys it, but does say that it is no substitute for someone that really enjoys flying a canopy. He will be having more surgery this winter to attempt to "fix" his neck again, and suspects, after that, he will be strictly a tunnel flier. I hope that helps. PM me if you need any more information. jenn Tunnel Junkie Since November 2005! ;o)~ TPM #46 Paraclete XP TPM Delegate
  11. Is this absolutely confirmed that VR Skydiving Portable Tunnel will be at Bridge Day? Does anyone have any idea on cost/time available? Do we need to book some time now or will it be first come first serve? I am such a junkie that I am willing to make the 5+ hour drive to WV to fly this tunnel, but not unless I know that it is definitely going to be there as I don't plan to raft or jump. Thanks in advance. jenn Tunnel Junkie Since November 2005! ;o)~ TPM #46 Paraclete XP TPM Delegate
  12. This is a very interesting thread. The tunnel is actually what helped me become an ex skydiver. I loved the freefall, but never really mastered the canopy flight and did NOT like the plane ride. So, as soon as I discovered that I could get the part that I loved without any of the other nonsense, I was hooked and decided to quit skydiving and fly exclusively in tunnels. I hope that you enjoy the tunnel as much as I do. jenn Tunnel Junkie Since November 2005! ;o)~ TPM #46 Paraclete XP TPM Delegate
  13. We should attribute such credibility to this story seeing as how the poster registered a mere 4 days ago and has only 2 posts. Oh yeah, and they posted so much information in their profile. Poster, I think you need to investigate matters more thoroughly before you make such serious allegations and take to slamming a DZ. I went though the student program at Skydive Orange, and felt extremely safe with the gear that I was jumping. jenn Tunnel Junkie Since November 2005! ;o)~ TPM #46 Paraclete XP TPM Delegate
  14. What a cowardly way to take a cheap shot at someone. It seems to me that if you have a problem with the owners, it is something that you should take up with them before posting in a PUBLIC and PERMANENT forum. My experience with the owners was very positive. They were very nice to me and one of them even drew out and explained a diagram to me when I was asking the differences in how SVNH vs a open air tunnel work. The owners are, in fact, just the opposite of rude! jenn Tunnel Junkie Since November 2005! ;o)~ TPM #46 Paraclete XP TPM Delegate
  15. Hi....my name is Jenn and I am a tunnel junkie. I have actually quit skydiving in favor of just tunnel flying. Here are my stats: TUNNELS FLOWN - 8 hours 05 minutes SkyVenture Orlando - 3 hours 41 minutes SkyVenture Perris - 25 minutes AAC - 3 hour 55 minutes FlyAway Pigeon Forge - 5 minutes It's gonna be a stretch, but I am gonna try to get to 10 hours before the end of 2006! Wish me luck! Hello to all my other fellow tunnel junkies. jenn Tunnel Junkie Since November 2005! ;o)~ TPM #46 Paraclete XP TPM Delegate
  16. Paige rocks....... TPM rocks........ Need I say more. Eloy ladies.....go fly and get inducted into TPM. And Paige, have a blast!!!!! Fly some for me jenn Tunnel Junkie Since November 2005! ;o)~ TPM #46 Paraclete XP TPM Delegate
  17. I discovered the tunnel long after I started skydiving. I don't live all that close to a tunnel, so while I LOVED tunnel flying, I kept skydiving. An incident occured that made me re-evaluate skydiving and why I do it. I decided that the risk I take skydiving was not worth it. I got enjoyment ONLY from the freefall when skydiving and hated the plane ride and the canopy ride, so tunnel flying was PERFECT. I tunnel fly because I LOVE to fly. jenn Tunnel Junkie Since November 2005! ;o)~ TPM #46 Paraclete XP TPM Delegate
  18. It was a freaking awesome time! Thanks so much to Bodyflight.net (The Suiters) and AAC for sponsoring the event. As always, the tunnel was a blast and the atmosphere was very friendly. I had a great time flying with a bunch of people and flew HARD all weekend. I am already looking forward to next year! I attached a few pics from the event. 19. Judging by what others have said, evidently I am a little SLOW, so disregard what I said Anyway, have fun at the tunnel! jenn Tunnel Junkie Since November 2005! ;o)~ TPM #46 Paraclete XP TPM Delegate
  20. Until you train the muscles that you will be using for tunnel flying, you are probably going to experience some tightness, or soreness, no matter the shape that you are in. When I first started in the tunnel, I was always sore after flying. Then, I got to the point where belly flying didn't really make me sore anymore. Then, I got to the point where back flying didn't make me too sore anymore. And now, I am finally at the point where sit flying makes me only a little stiff, but I don't hurt a lot anymore after doing it. The more you do it and train your muscles, the less you will hurt after flying. Just my 2 cents. jenn Tunnel Junkie Since November 2005! ;o)~ TPM #46 Paraclete XP TPM Delegate
  21. I can be somewhat slow sometimes, but I have just over 5 hours at two different types of tunnels (L1 vs SkyVenture). I JUST got my sit to be rather solid. I am starting to be able to turn and move in the sit, as well as carve. But, before they will let you sit fly at a SkyVenture tunnel, you must demonstrate that you can back-fly because that is the "recovery" position for when things don't go as planned in the sit position. Check out: http://www.tunnelflight.com for more information about the flying progression used at SkyVenture tunnels. I don't know much about flying progression used at European Tunnels. The L1 tunnel instructors access you as you go and work with you on skills they think you can handle. I hope that helps. Enjoy the tunnel!!! jenn Tunnel Junkie Since November 2005! ;o)~ TPM #46 Paraclete XP TPM Delegate
  22. AND, a big thank you to Paige. Don't forget your self, Paige. I can only begin to grasp how huge of an effort you have to put forth to arrange for the tunnel time, the sponsorship, the scheduling, and all of the tiny details for an event like TFTC. It really takes someone special to put so much effort into something. Paige is such an awesome philanthropist and one of the most unselfish people that I know. What a better place the world would be if everyone had the love for people, in their heart, that she does. Oh, and Paigey, I can attribute my improvement in flying skills all to you and John. I literally started out with nothing more than basic belly flying and pinball freeflying skills before I met you or John. You have the ability to make learning really funny, and sometimes really funny, pick a student up when they are overcome with frustration and sacrifice personal time to teach others to fly. Most of all, you are really good at helping people build confidence in their flying. Some flying skills that have been giving me some trouble finally clicked....I finally GOT IT! The hours that I have spent with you and the hour I have spent with John have made all of the difference in the world. And, like I said before, hopefully, eventually, I can just fly with you and you won't have to give me instruction because I will know what to do. So, anywho. While all of us chicas were happy to fundraise and come fly with each other to save the boobies, you are the REAL hero in the grand scheme of things. jenn Tunnel Junkie Since November 2005! ;o)~ TPM #46 Paraclete XP TPM Delegate
  23. Any possible chance that there may be space for two cool folks from VA, but that might have to make the decision to come fly at the last minute?!?! ;-) Hehehe.....we are last minute folks! jenn Tunnel Junkie Since November 2005! ;o)~ TPM #46 Paraclete XP TPM Delegate
