hello all. trying to make my own remote switch for my new canon g10. tried friends switch for his 35mm canon and it doesn't work. was thinking of buying a canon remote switch, cutting it and splicing it to a tongue switch. my question is does anyone know what i should do with the ground wire in remote switch? there is a red wire and a white wire that i suppose i will hook to the two terminals of the switch, but then i am left with a ground wire that i'm not sure if it is important.. does anyone have any knowledge about this sort of stuff??? thanks

hello: looking for any advice that people may have regarding setting up my first camera helmet. been asking friends at the dz and reading through the forums but i'm looking for some specific advice. I am primarily planning on doing tandem video and possibly some team stuff. Already bought a cx100, and am thinking about buying a cannon g10 with a rawa helmet. should i get the Rawa box or a aftermarket one and mount it myself? It sounds like there is no room for the D plug of the cameye light/switch to be contained inside the rawa box? any advice regarding any of this gear would be appreciated especially which helmets, mounts, eyesights etc people like or recommend avoiding. thank you

i'm a pilot and i started flying jumpers with 150 hrs and a ppl. it didnt take long for me to put in the next 100 hrs for a commercial, but if i would have paid for the hours it would have taken significantly longer. I got my commercial asap, and the examiner did give me a little crap about it all. it was an oppertunity that i was thankful to get.

on the same subject, do any of you have a rubber band on your slider that is wrapped around the brake lines? ON my old canopy i did and i used it, but now i have a new canopy and i am considering putting one on. Anyone have any opinions about these?

i just sold my sabre 120 and bought a stilleto 120. The first thing i noticed was the awesome openings. There was a huge difference!! Seems to fly great and theres a ton of flare on landing.. havnt flown the crossfire 2 so i cant compare, but i love my stilleto.

hey quade.. i've never really understood this density altitude thing... when an awos report says that the density altitude is 3000ft, what does that mean exactly? i know how as density altitude increases it reduces the efficiency of an airplane (or parachute) but how do they compute the Density altitude?

antipinkchrissy has a point. if someone else finds it, its probaly been out in the elements for a while, and if you dont find it in the first few days your probaly not going to want it any way. John

Has everyone forgotten about 9/11? Just like Bush said this is self defense. this is different than anything we have been involved in since wwII. saying that it is about oil is stupid. how much oil did we seize after the Gulf War? oh yeah, none. I'm just glad that we have someone like bush in there to deal with it. he must have balls of steel. JOHN

i must not fully understand the concept of the skyhook. does it pop your reserve pin, then pull out the freebag as well? i was always told that the down side to an rsl was a spinning mal on your back or some other bad situation such as that. how is the skyhook safer in these types of situations than a regular rsl? JOHN

hey what else do you have about this nick guy from St. Paul MN. this is local to me and i'd like to know more about this guy. thanks john

i would say that they have already given you some good advice, but if it doesnt go perfectly, dont worry because your ability to regain stability is more important than the actual exit. after level 7 you are cleared for solo and thats when the learning really begins just have fun

thanks for all the info the risers look identical except for the metal rsl ring which is on the back of the riser. john

in january i flew from Milwaukee to Phoenix on America West and the screeners didnt even flinch when I put the rig through the scanner. I carried it as a carry on. JOHN

just to clarify, I am talking about the same set of risers on the same rig being interchangable left and right. the canopy is hooked up to the risers correctly, but i am wondering if the right side of the canopy could be hooked up to the left riser, and the left side of the canopy to the right riser. its hard to explain this and not seem confusing. I just bought a 1997 Javelin NJ and I noticed that the metal ring for the RSL(on the riser) is on the opposite side of the rig than my friends Javelin. Are the risers interchangable left and right if i do not have an RSL installed? Other than the metal ring the risers appear identical, but better to ask than be sorry. Thanks JOHN

you guys have any ideas on what something like this shoud cost?

I just bought a 97 Javelin NJ, and I was wondering how hard it would be for a rigger to put the same bridle pocket down by the BOC as the new Odysseys have. I'm assuming its possible, and what would a fair price be for such a task. Any info would be great. blue skies
