  1. 300 with 2 canopy courses has been the minimum for a bit now. 500 jumps without canopy courses. As far as the water training, it would be the equivalent of the water training one would receive for their USPA B license. So actually jumping into water with a rig and actually swimming out of the harness and out from under the canopy. Water training is pretty important as the palm since you're above water 90% of the time. As far as doing water training there, check with the desert campus. Ask for Tukes or Pat and they'll get you squared away. "To the moon"
  2. Hey everyone I recently got a brand new canopy (sabre2 190) and am having quite a time trying to pack it. I know it will eventually get broken in as I continue to jump it but my question is, does the slickness go away due it opening up and being used while I'm under canopy? Or does it get less slick from being repeatedly packed? If it is just from being packed then I figure I could just pack it for a couple hours a day until it becomes less slick (don't have much to do in my off time and can only jump on the weekends). Or I just get better at packing. I tried looking for an answer in the forums but couldn't find much other than psycho pack it and jump it a lot. I've heard someone say spray some water on it and wipe it off or get some sand on it but I'm not sure if that's reliable advice or not. Thanks "To the moon"
  3. Thank you :). It is a pretty nice dropzone , however I'm not able to jump over the Palm yet as I need 300 jumps and 2 canopy courses first. So I'm restricted to the desert DZ for now but hopefully not for long. As far as the wind tunnel, yes I've been over there a few times. definitely helped out my belly flying alot over there. 4. I'm currently on 240. I have a canopy course coming up on the 9th and am signing up for the 2nd one afterwards. I'm planning on getting the container and reserve but I probably won't have the main and AAD until mid February. I'm anticipating that I will be down to 220 by that time so I'm going off of that. I usually can get in 10-13 jumps per week so I figure that's another 80-100 jumps by the time I have everything together and ready to go. After that I plan to stick with the 210 for a while until I push it any more than that. "To the moon"
  5. I think I accidentally added in the price of packing tickets with that, but it's still about $1300-$1500. It's dubai so I think things are a little more expensive than they would normally be in states. (Haven't been to a dropzone in the US yet so I'm not sure) "To the moon"
  6. --Didn't mean for this to be a poll btw-- Hey everyone I just had a quick question as a newbie. I'm in a bit of a dilemma as far as my first rig goes. Ideally what I'm looking for at the moment is a container that holds maybe a 190-210. And putting a 210 Sabre 2 in it. I currently have 2 options and I don't know which one will be better. I'm in the market for my own rig as soon as possible because I spend close to $1500-$2000 a month just on rental fees and that money could be going towards coach jumps and tunnel time. These are my 2 options. Option A: I finally found a used container (with a reserve) for sale that fits my height and weight (6'3 220, 245 exit weight) and holds a 190-210 canopy. Then all I would need to do is buy a used AAD and a Main. However, the problem with option A is my drop zone is in Dubai and The seller is in the states and I don't have a rigger in the states to do a pre-by inspection and I also can't try it on to see if it fits. Also I'm not too fond of the colors but I can get over that. Then there's option B where I could buy a brand-new custom container from wings (not with all the bells and whistles) and a brand-new PD reserve for about $700 more than option A. (6 week wait time). *note* I am planning to buy a new custom mirage or vector in the future whenever I downsize to a much smaller canopy. (300-500 jumps from now) so I'm not looking for this first rig to be the most amazing decked out rig ever. My question is, would it better to go ahead and just get a custom container with a brand new reserve? Or just try my luck with the used container? Or just hold off on jumping until I save enough for a complete rig? "To the moon"
  7. Hello everyone, I've been on this site pretty heavily the past few months trying to soak up as much information as possible so I figured I might as well make an account and become more active. My name is Brandon and I'm originally from Dallas but currently working in Kuwait for the next year or so. No DZ in Kuwait so I fly down to Dubai every week and jump there. (Great staff and instructors from all over btw.) I am new to the sport, started AFF in October but the wind didn't let me finish until late November. Anyways, I am absolutely in love with the sport and plan on spending a good amount of my time falling out of aircraft. My goal in this sport is to eventually learn to freefly while building up my jumps and experience so that I can fly a wingsuit. Then much later down the road maybe venture into the AFF instructor world. I'm 6'3 with an exit weight of 240-245 so I'm not sure if that will affect doing either of those but hopefully not. Anyways, it's nice to meet everyone and hopefully I'll get to jump with some of you guys and gals down the road. Cheers "To the moon"
