Tim succumbed to cancer yesterday morning. Tim Mace was awarded the FAI Parachuting Gold Medal in January 2012. The FAI Gold Parachuting Medal is given for outstanding accomplishment in connection with parachuting. He was awarded the medal in recognition of the following accomplishments: Tim started skydiving in 1977, and has 8100 jumps. In that time he has competed as a performer in every IPC discipline at World Championship level. He is probably the first person to do this in modern times when so many disciplines are active. He has competed in more than 150 competitions, including 23 First Category Events in which he has obtained 6 medals and placed in the top-ten 16 times. He competed in FAI World Championships in Formation Skydiving in Yugoslavia 1985 and Spain 1989, Freefly and Freestyle in France 2003, Freefall Style and Accuracy Landing in Croatia 2004, Skysurfing in Germany 2006, Paraski in Montenegro 2005, Italy 2007, Austria 2009 and 2011, and Canopy Piloting in Russia 2010. Tim is joint holder of the current 400 person FAI Formation Skydiving Large Formation World Record, and has been on two previous FAI Large Formation records (282 Thailand 1999, 357 Thailand 2004). Tim was also on the team that set the 16-way Formation Skydiving Sequential 12 point World Record in France in 1998. He has been an AFF instructor since 1984, and a wingsuit instructor since 1999. He received the Royal Aero Club Prince of Wales Cup in 1990 for performance in 8-way at the 1989 FS World Championship. By profession he is an experimental test pilot. He is also a former astronaut, and received the Royal Aero Club silver medal in 1991 for his work as an astronaut on the UK-Soviet space programme, which included high altitude parachuting. Edited by me and posted without permission. July 21, 2014 USPA Board Meeting Concludes The USPA Board of Directors met July 11-13 in Memphis, Tennessee, for the fourth meeting of its term. A highlight of the results follows: The board made major revisions to its judging program, which will be reflected in a revised Chapter 8 of the Skydiver's Competition Manual. Beginning January 1, 2015, the A-license requirements will include a USPA-developed written exam in addition to the current oral exam. The board selected Roger Ponce de Leon to receive the USPA Gold Medal for Meritorious Service. The board selected the following recipients for the new USPA Regional Achievement Award, which recognizes outstanding members of USPA regions who, by their efforts over a period of time or one outstanding act, have made significant contributions to that region's skydiving community: Mike Schultz, Eastern Region Gary Pond (posthumously), Northeast Region Jim Horak Jr. (posthumously), Southern Region Eike Hohenadl (posthumously), Western Region The board approved the by-laws for the Skydiving Safety Foundation, which was established at the winter board meeting earlier this year. The foundation will fund board-approved safety initiatives through donor contributions. The board approved amended articles of incorporation and new by-laws for the U.S. Parachute Team, Inc., giving the corporation the ability to more aggressively pursue funding and sponsorship. USPA has scheduled an AFF Standardization Meeting for March 31 in Daytona Beach, Florida, in conjunction with the PIA Symposium. Three additional dates and locations for 2015 will be added soon. The board selected the following individuals as U.S. Team head of delegation and team managers: Eli Godwin, team manager for U.S. Canopy Formation Team at the World Championships in Bosnia this August. Ian Bobo, team manager for U.S. Canopy Piloting Team at the World Championships in Zephyrhills, Florida, in November. Larry Hill, head of delegation for the 5th Dubai International Parachuting Championships later this year. A full report will appear in the September issue of Parachutist. The next board meeting will be held prior to the PIA Symposium March 27-29 in Daytona Beach, Florida. USPA Nationals Quickly Approaching! USPA and Skydive Chicago are working closely together to prepare for the 2014 USPA National Skydiving Championships September 10-23 in Ottawa, Illinois. The event will include formation skydiving, vertical formation skydiving, the new 2-way mixed formation skydiving event, style and accuracy, freestyle, freeflying and canopy formation. The 2-way MFS and 4-way VFS events will run sequentially so competitors can take part in both events. The planned schedule of events can be found on USPA's Nationals page. Online registration will soon be available on SDC's website. U.S. Team Heads to World Championships The U.S. Parachute Team is making final preparations for this summer's big meets. First up are the FAI World Championships of Canopy Formation and Style & Accuracy at Banja Luka, Bosnia-Herzegovina, August 15-23. A few days later, the FAI World Championships of Artistic Events and Formation Skydiving take place in Prostejov, Czech Republic, August 25-31. Team managers will be posting news on the USPT Facebook page. Many drop zones across the country have SIS events coming up soon. Mom took Little Johnny to the doctor for lacerations on his penis. Doctor: "How did such a thing happen?" Johnny: "It's that damn neighbor girl, Susie. Her braces are too darned sharp." I Jumped with the guys who invented Skydiving.

What does a Rubik's Cube and a penis have in common? The longer you play with them, the harder they get. I Jumped with the guys who invented Skydiving.

Not surprised these are for sale. Ottley’s family never cared for his aviation or skydiving, some other stuff too. He has Survivors believe me I met them. The family didn’t like Ottley giving $1,000,000 of their old money to the Skydiving museum. I Jumped with the guys who invented Skydiving.

This film was done at the Pelican Skydivers DZ in Ridgley Maryland. Everyone in the film was either on or jumped with the Ten Man Speed Star Team “It’s About Time”. I was on the team until moving to Arizona in July 1976. I Jumped with the guys who invented Skydiving.
