    my first "A"

Pineapple, Great job the other night. It also looks like we have picked up another jumper to add to the local scene. I got a call today from a someone on this forum that has recently just moved back to the area. So I can't wait to head out again soon. So Pack up and lets get back out there. Matt Davies

    Doppler Radar

There is a pretty spooky sign now at this tower in particular. It says something to the effect of "notice to workers. Reguardless if your maintinece was scheduled or not before starting any work on this tower contact ______ at this number ________. You need to do this to double check that the Doppler is not operating. IF you come into contact with this tower while the doppler is running it may cause internal damage and possible radiation burns on your skin." I chanced it the one time. We used to jump this tower quite a bit and I hated seeing it just sit there. I will have to be pretty hard up to go and jump it again. Matt Davies

    Doppler Radar

I would say contact the locals. Sounds like you have though since that sounds like my last experience out there. If you guys want to go out just give a holler. There is plenty of other stuff out that way. Its not worth trying to jump that one. Matt Davies
  6. I had a friend that set his breaks on his skydiving rig incorrectly. It would be a similar type of set up. He didn't pull the break setting down past the guide ring. He basicly pulled it down to the top of the guide rig, put his toggle thru the setting then into the elastic keeper. When it came open it tore the elastic keepers apart. It looked as though it pulled the top of the toggle right thru it. Was there any damage or ware to your elastic keepers from the break fireing? Matt Davies
  7. I vote for the fire fox browser also... I haven't seen any of that kind of stuff in a long time. Matt Davies

    BD rental gear?

I don't think there are any rentals for dirty brown shirts! Can't ya call Cridler? Matt Davies
  13. About 4yrs ago I had two cut aways in a 3week time frame. I told my wife about the first one... No big deal. When I had the second one I told her that I had left my rig at the dz for some maintenence. No questions were asked. I was free and clear. I didn't want her to worry since they were so close together. Like I said I was free and clear until my buddies girlfriend said something about a month later. So Lany is right just tell her. If your wife is anything like mine she will be pissed if she finds out later. Matt Davies
  14. Does that go for everyone???? Matt Davies
  15. Believe me I would love to, but my wife would kill me. Plus I still think I would leave the slider on. I guess I will have to cross that bridge some day when I get more. Matt Davies
  16. I started out slider off. I got sick of taking it on and off so I tye it down now. Matt Davies
  17. As for the cross link. You would have to tie down to both front risers. I have always only tied down to one front riser. So if your going to tie it down for this extra protection tie down to both fronts. Otherwise you only have a 50/50 chance that it would even be tied to the correct riser. The tie down that I currently have wouldn't work for this added protection because it is basicly a lanyard with a snap. The way it works is it runs up thru the gromet and comes back down and snaps to the riser. I am pretty sure that snap wouldn't hold a failed riser set. Matt Davies
  18. I know some people doing the gromet below the bumper also... My bumpers are hard as hell to move. If you have the same problem just use a piece of pull up cord. Or just get some risers from Morpheus that already have the tie down. Matt Davies

    Crown Royal

this is from crownroyal.com in the FAQ section. 13. I have kept an unopened bottle of Crown Royal whisky for many years. Is it still acceptable to drink, and does the taste of Crown Royal get better with age? Under normal storage conditions, whisky will maintain its original quality and taste for several years, although over a long period of time its taste may change very slightly. The aging process of whisky occurs in the barrel, before it's blended and bottled. In fact, Crown Royal whisky is at its peak flavor when it's first bottled. Matt Davies
  20. I really like the new look that Skydiving magazine has. However it seems that more than ever it is showing up damaged. I think that the new paper they are printing on isn't as durable. The only thing I can think of is because of the size of the magazine and this new paper, they are showing up torn wrinkley messes. Now I have had two show up in a envolope from the post office saying that they were damaged in tansit and they appologize. The first time it happend I only got half of the first page. The second time I got the whole magazine with the cover torn off. Others have been in rough shape ever since they started the new format. Like I say, I like the new look. But is anyone else having the same problems I am having? Matt Davies
  21. Im with Karen on this one. If you are too cheap and need an extra one pm me your addy and I will send one out. Throw that sucka out (this only goes for Hookitt). I bet it won't hurt a thing but why put that crap in your gear? Matt Davies
  22. baserigs.com has it listed on their price list. Check there. Matt Davies
  23. here is a thread for your worries about pins comming off the bridle. http://dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?post=1280959;search_string=pin;#1280959 You will need to go to the top of the post to get the whole story. There are pics for you to see also. Your worst dreams will come true. I will continue to jump my pin rig though. I do check over my attachments very thorough. I think this is a very fluke happening. That doesn't mean that it cant happen to you or me though. Matt Davies
  24. I have a couple of sets of knots in my lines. When I am jumping slider down I use the top knot. That leaves the knot or knots that I have below that one in the extra line that just hangs there. I think that is what tree was getting at. Just make sure that if you have other knots in the extra line that it gets stowed properly so it doesn't snag or hang up on anything. Matt Davies
  25. I am some what confused by the question but here are the answers I can give from reading the post. I would change toggle setting and reroute the control lines with out pulling it out to line strech. I would pull the lines out if I was changing from shallow to deep brakes. You would probably have to take the tail gate off to move to deep brakes. Then put it back on once the brakes are set. Then I would redress the tail and finish up. Thats only what I would do... performance may vary. Matt Davies
