  1. I think I had seen this on the news a few weeks ago. She had put the pan up for auction with a reserve. The highest bid was 20,000 and still had not met her reserve. Looks like she has reconsidered the reserve and put it back up without a reserve. Matt Davies

    Base 1000

I just got the news. My jumping partner just got his number. Base 1000. His name Is Matt M. He jumps here in Michigan and He qualified sometime around a month ago. He may get on and post later but he told me it was ok to put the news out. He said that Rick put a pretty cool letter in with his card. So there you have it. Matt Davies
  5. Its new I have it today also Matt Davies
  6. I got a Misdemeanor about 7years ago... I had a chevelle that I was going to put into storage. I had already transfered my plate to my winter car. But I put the plate back on the chevelle to transport it across town to my parents for storage (4miles). Between my parents house and mine a cop ran my plate. He knew it wasn't a Grand prix so he pulled me over. Removed my plate and distroyed it once my story checked out. So a lesson to you. You would be better off driving it with out a plate at all. Neither is a good idea though. Matt Davies
  7. I say no.... There is at least one on the Bottom list that were climbing to an exit point that didn't make the top of the list. Matt Davies
  8. We as jumpers assume that it will happen at some point. But I will have to agree with twoply here. Keep it to yourself. Matt Davies
  9. I have used them to mark luggage also... It makes your bags very visable when they come around the turnstyle at the airport. Matt Davies
  10. I was thinking the same thing as you Tom. Matt Davies
  11. No doubt! Lets hear it. I would like to hear more on the subject. I would also like to see if you have more to add to the artical that I have read. Sounds like crappy weather and high water ended bridge day. Permits didn't come through. I believe this was the first year that NPS had aquired the land under the bridge. So there was a second plan to move the exit over the rail way. The owners of the rail road were not having it. They were lieniant in previous years because there was only a few landings here and there on the tracks. How ever they don't want everyone landing there. So the let the BD staff know that they will have rail police down there to ticket anyone landing on the tracks. There was some other stuff going on but in the end Jean decided to call off jumping. So early the next morning the bridge was open to foot traffic. Every now and again a bandit jumper would step to the edge and bail. Then try to excape once they had landed. Sounds like many jumpers got away. Others ended up with tickets. One had his gear taken. It sounds to me like this Bandit jumping started with none other than our Mr. gharendza wearing a ski mask. By the end of the day one of the rangers Bill Blake had decided that the current in the river had slowed enough to issue the permit. He got a hold of Jean, who apparently never even came out to the bridge all day. He told her that the nps was ready to issue the permit with her blessing. She would not give it. So the permit was never valid. Blake went ahead with out Jeans permission and told the jumpers where they could land without getting into trouble with the nps. If they made a conscience effort to land out of nps property and ended up there on accident they would not get into trouble. Well Blake had kept his word and a few jumpers that did land on nps land did end up getting help from rangers with collecting there gear and sending them on their way. I know there is much more to the story but this is a short overview to what happened. Some of what I have here may not be entirely true. I read the artical last night and these are some of the key points I got. Matt Davies

  13. So, It looks like you got it all started. How is your ankle? I would assume that you were the first one to go off that year. It sounds like bridge day has come a long way since then. The whole days sounds like a big mess. As JK would put it.... " I have seen monkey shit fights at the zoo more organized than that" The funny thing about that whole day is that it seems that not one of us, but a ranger turned out to be our best friend that day. Congrats on getting the ball rolling though. There was an artical on this bridge day in the spring 1990 issue of the Base Gazette if any one has it lying around. Matt Davies

Is everyone else haveing the same problems with Blinc that I am having tonight? I couldn't get to the forums earlier now there is just some script when I go there. Also I have been having problems with skydivingmovies the past couple of days. I normally don't have problems downloading the vids. Now it seems that I cant get most of them to work with both my IE and Firefox. I just get some crappy script on the screen. Im hoping its not just my computer. Matt Davies

    Town in Spain

Nice looking site. It looks like if its tall enough and has a landing area you could maybe get base right there. Jump the cliff for the E. Jump that bridge looking thing for your s. Jump from the roof of a house for your B and if one of them has a TV antenna close enough you could get your A too. Wouldn't that be hot. Wishful thinking though. Matt Davies
  19. I have had a cut away main covered. However they wanted a police report filed. I didn't understand and I don't think the insurance company did. So the police were called and the story was told to them and they put it on file. Once it was in a police report the insurance co. purchased me a new canopy (home owners). It was considered in-transit. One time when I was headed down to Florida I borrowed a friends tandem rig so that I could take my wife on some tandems while we were down there. I got on the phone and told my insurance company what I was up to and they told me it was covered up to something like 20 days. No extra money, just covered. So for those of you that travel and borrow a spare rig to get extra jumps, run it past your insurance. I also had a friend that was in norway base jumping. He had put his video camera in his backpack along with a can of soda. You guessed it. The can exploded and ruined the camera. His camera was replaced by his renters insurance. All I can say is that until you go check it out you really don't know how cheap it is. If you opt to not take advantage of it all I can say is good luck. Im glad I don't have to pay for another rig unless I want one. When you go talk to an insurance agent ask all the questions you can think of. They will let you know all the answers you need and if they don't know or are not 100% they will call the claims office and find out. Matt Davies

    Vented PC's

This is just what I remember from a couple of years ago. So I may not remember it correctly. Morph. was doing some testing on the vented pc's and I think that they felt the venting didn't have as much benifit when you started getting into that size pc (short delays). Like Faber mentions though... you should email them/call them. Then try to post the answer here. Or have them pop in and answer themselves. Matt Davies

    Vented PC's

Here is a pic of my morpheus tech vented pc. You can see the mesh venting around the black cap at the apex. I am not sure but I believe all other vented pc's by other companies are completely vented (meaning that the entire apex is vented without a cap). Matt Davies
  22. It is my understanding that the tail gate can/could work its way into one of the holes of the mesh slider. This can/could cause the slider to hang up. I have done some jumps with the tape. It seems to work well. I have inspected the lines after each jump also. I have yet to find any evidence that tape was used after a jump. So apparently there is plenty of force to break the tape. Here is a search of masking tape. You may have to sift through some of it but there is quite a bit of info. http://dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?do=search_results&search_forum=forum_22&search_type=AND&search_string=masking+tape Matt Davies
