Now that gives me Goose Bumps! Matt Davies

That is just wrong. I think that video was on freakhole.com at one point. Matt Davies

Harley decided to leave me with his gear for the weekend. So he won't be doing any base during the boogie. You are still welcome to contact him for ground crew if your headed out though. Matt Davies

I am posting for a friend of mine. He is heading out for the boogie this weekend and wants to know if he should bring his rig. You can reach him at alpinegutters@charter.net or 269-760-1562. His name is Harley Matt Davies

There you have it. Go out buy a huge block of jump tickets. That way you save more money. How can he argue with you jumping then, if you are saving eachother money. Matt Davies

Chipotle ROCKS! I wish we had one here in Michigan. Matt Davies

I wouldn't jump. You can pinch off part of the intestine and it can get infected. I just had a similar operation. Not for a hernia but they had to cut through my lower abdomin and I have been down and out for 3 weeks now. I have been going to work but there is no way I can jump yet. I tried to throw a frisbie the other day and I thought my insides were going to fall out. My friend that had a hernia operation said that I have been way better off than he was. So all I can say is good luck. Matt Davies

I won't go into the details but I know a guy that cut away a canopy. He called up his insurance and it was replaced. He did have to go to the police station and make a report that the gear was stolen. The insurance company said that if he cut it away and everyone saw where it landed, it had to be stolen. They couldn't figure out why it would be so hard to find. I now have the same homeowners insurance. I have $20,000 in sporting equip. covered on my policy. State Farm by the way. Matt Davies

I felt the same way about the age of this post. I debated before I made the post above you. Matt Davies

This sounds like something that used to bother me. I figured it out the second time it happend. I had just gotten a new rig. It was a pull out. I was used to jumping a throw out. What was happening is I was holding on to the pud just a second to long and the pilot chute would jerk my arm back. You won't run into this problem if your jumping throw out because the handle attachment is at the apex of the pc. Like I say I learned my lesson real quick. The first time I didn't notice until after the jump that my shoulder hurt like hell. Then a couple of jumps later I did it again and it hurt like hell when it happend that time. So if you just started jumping a pull out thats something to think about. Matt Davies

I searched through all eight pages of this post. I don't think this has been posted yet. If it has Sorry. Im sure some people haven't seen it. So here you go. I couldn't get my link to work so here it is in the wing suit forum.http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?post=1063449#1063449 Matt Davies

I have a couple of questions about the video. For one I have never done a direct bag. I noticed though that the bridle and pc are still hooked up. Most video that I have seen of direct bag they leave the bridle and pc off. Is that just a personal preference or should it actually be left off? Also in the video at around 1:14 there is video of the canopy in flight from the jumpers view point. It appers as thought the inner a and b lines are cascaded. Am I seeing that correctly? Dont most base canopys run a continuous line for the inner a and b lines? What do people think about that? Matt Davies

Check out this artical that was in Time Magazine last week. Kinda the same thing (but not free). It was an interesting read though. http://www.time.com/time/magazine/article/0,9171,1101040823-682287,00.html There are three pages to the artical. So once your done reading that page there is still more. Matt Davies

Taking Lives It came out earlier this week on video. It was a pretty good movie. But you cant beat a great nude/sex scene with Angelina Jolie.Sorry to ruin the best part. Matt Davies

What type of object? What is your opening alti in reference to impact? Is it much further to the landing area? Matt Davies

Like fireflyr suggests check out Johnnys course. You will get more than just one jump. Plus it looks like you will get the video that your talking about. As far as the course goes, most courses are not held in the back yard of the person giving the course. So guess what. They either have to fly or drive to where the course is. Then they have to get a room. They also have to get some food. They also can supply gear. I can't imagine it is very cost effective for them to just have that many rigs just lying around when not in use. So the next point would be that a base course isn't just held every weekend. I would assume that your aff was offered every weekend and during the week weather permitting. I bet those aff rigs pay themselves off a lot quicker. So believe me no one is getting super rich off these ventures. Read this post to help get an Idea of what can be offered at a base course. It sounds to me like this course may be right up your ally. http://dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?post=1099413 One last thing I have to say is that I didn't think I had the money when I started out either. But guess what, you can make it happen if you want it. Believe me you will end up spending just as much money on this sport if not more than skydiving. So if you think it is a cheap alternative think again. Matt Davies

Billboards rock! I just wish they counted as a B instead of O. Matt Davies

A couple of years ago at Bridge day ESPN came up to a group of us and asked for an interview. One jumper agreed. Then he said "oh wait is the camera on yet?" The espn ancor said "not yet why?" His reply was "let me finish this cigarette. My Mom doesn't know I smoke." How funny is that. Base jumping is acceptable but smoking isn't. Matt Davies

It reads the same way to me. Matt Davies

here is a post from march of 2003http://dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?post=410723;#410723 I pretty much use the same method as jason. At the end of my discription I mention that I let the pc get jerked out of my hand. Maybe I should have said pulled instead of jerked. I don't hold on to it with near the force as I do with the bridle. Matt Davies

I had some pull up cords made to pass out at our wedding. I got them from the web site that bbarnhouse mentioned. My wife wasn't happy when they started getting passed around at the wedding. The way I look at it is, you have to make it up to your friends that spent a great day of jumping at a wedding instead. Matt Davies

I was just doing a search for boots and I found this site. http://store.paraglide.com/category.aspx?categoryid=30&openid=30 Then I did some looking around and you can find quite a few full face helmets for paragliding. That might be worth a look also. Matt Davies

I had a tandem students glasses hit my hand one time (I was the instructor). His goggles had shifted and he started fussing with them. He made matters worse and lost his glasses. It didn't hurt that bad. But I was very aware of it. Im sure if there was more seperation from the object it would hurt quite a bit. Matt Davies
