  1. Here is a post from a while back. http://dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?post=875614;search_string=dog;#875614 Matt Davies
  2. I wear my rig for the climb because the climb is tight. So I really don't have anywhere to hang it. If I did hang it may become disruptive. When I was in moab (and other locations) I never wore my helmet until I was ready to jump. Matt Davies
  3. I am surprised that you can't call sebastian and have them send you one. It probably would cost you a couple of dollars. If they wouldn't I would love to hear the story. Matt Davies
  4. I have the full face helmet by protec. I have made a handfull of jumps with it now. I love it so far. It has a removable visor. So you don't have to worry about that. The part that goes in front of your mouth/jaw isn't snug. I guess what I mean is that I have tried on skydiving full face helmets and they are tight to your face. I think that would make me closterphobic. Most of my jumps are A's and the climbs kick my ass. So I wouldn't want a helmet that would restrict my breathing and the protec Ace full face allows me to breath easy. If your jumps don't require you to wear your helmet during the approch then I guess this wouldn't be an issue. I don't know where I would carry my helmet on the majority of my jumps other than on my head. Matt Davies
  5. When I got to work today I found out one of my friends on the emergency response team here at work died in an accident yesterday. The other team member that told me, finished telling me about the accident and said "Well Matt, none of us are going to get out of here alive." I don't know if he made this quote up or if its just the first time I have heard it but I figured it would be a nice addition here. Matt Davies

    Water tower

Where is the pic from? Blinc. Ask there. Matt Davies
  7. I have a cover-up. It turned out fine. I got it when I was 18. Big mistake. Oh well. My cover up is a eagle. I was told that for the cover up it is good to have something that gets lots of detail.... like feathers so that there are a lot of detail lines that will break up the shape of the old design. Kinda like when you scribble somthing out. I know another guy that has a cover up/ add on. It was the funnest thing I had ever seen. He had gotten a heart with his wifes name on it just before they got married. Well now their divorced. So he went out and had a great big VOID stamp like one that the bank puts on a cancelled check, right over top of it. Matt Davies
  8. When you get to Rantoul and sign in they give you a bag of goodies. There should be a couple of cords in there. Matt Davies
  9. When sneaking around towers in the middle of the night I have often let my mind wander. Some of the places that I jump are in the country with lots of hillbillies. I am just waiting for the night when one of them is out poaching for Deer and mistakes me for one. Can you imagine some idiot flinging arrows or shooting at you because he thought you were an animal? This isn't unlikely because I see people out shining for deer quite a bit while climbing. Think about that one the next time your out doing a solo. Matt Davies
  10. I just checked my link and your right. It doesn't work right. I copied and pasted it from post 22 from this thread. Oh well, I will just have to try a couple more times and then pick a new screen name. Matt Davies
  11. has anyone used this link to reset their password?http://www.blincmagazine.com/.../login.php?do=lostpw Apparently I don't have a clue what I am doing. Maybe I will just have to get a new name. It tells me that my email is not recognized. Im almost positive that my current email was the email used on my blinc account. I was pretty good at keeping it updated. Matt Davies

    Disc Golf

Disc golf is lots of fun... For anyone reading this post that hasn't tried it you should think about it. It does sound kinda lame but it works out great for those days when the clouds are too low and they aren't flying loads. Even better is that it is Free normaly. I have never been to a course that charges. So get some of your jumping buddies together. Throw some beer in a back pack and go out to a course. In my experiance most "Quicky Marts" close by a course will have disc's to buy. Just grab one. Sometimes you can find some out at the course that others have lost. Most courses have some guy that finds discs and sells them used for cheap also. It doesn't matter much if your not any good either because if your out with friends something interesting always seems to happen. People that disc golf seem to be a friendly bunch also so if you don't know what your doing or need help navagating the course I'm sure someone would be glad to help. Here is a link to help find a course near you. http://www.discgolfdirectory.com/ Matt Davies
  13. Well this is all I am getting now on the web site at 17:25 I hope this doesn't go on very long because my computer is down at home and every time I try to register I have to drive up to work. Hope I don't loose my slot this year. Matt Davies
  14. When I set my tail gate I make it snug. Thats just the way I have always done it. Just for the sake of discussion. I remember reading a while back a thread on tying break cord. I have searched and searched and I cant find it. However if I remember right It said that you should tie it snug around the attachment point and the bridle. The reason for this was to load it evenly, and promote consistency. I wonder if these same principles would apply to the Tail Gate. Maybe someone else will be able to dig this old thread up. I think it was written by Dd0g. I don't know if it was here or at blinc though. Matt Davies
  15. I vote for moab, ut. Tons of stuff to do there. check out this site. There is a DZ in town, and base jumping. Here is a great site to help plan a trip. http://www.moab-utah.com/ My wife and I also went to a spa just out side of town that was great. here is the linkhttp://www.moab-utah.com/mtpeale/ Matt Davies

    Aerial Delay

The way this post reads to me is that the pilot chute stables you out. Similar to when a tandem master throws out the drouge, when on his back. With base gear that isn't going to be the case. It is going to begin the deployment sequence in almost any attitude that you may be in. However it is going to be less than optimal from being flat when pitching. So the deployment sequence takes longer. If you were to watch a bridge day video there are many examples there. You will see that the canopy is what rights the persons bad body position. I think it takes longer in this instance because the canopy doesn't have a clean path to deployment in most cases. If I have misunderstood the post or anyone has corrections post away. I am curious to hear what others have to say. Sometimes I have a hard time expressing what I have to say into writting. Matt Davies
  17. If your thinking that you would rubberband the bridle to shorten the distance for the bridle to travel. I think it is a bad Idea. Also I don't think it would stay. Maybe I am wrong but I would think you would want all the snatch force generated by the length of bridal on a go and throw. Matt Davies
  18. Well lets hear it. I have seen a couple of posts where people say they have one or like it. There isn't any info up on BR's site yet though. Does anyone have pics or know some of the improvements? Matt Davies
  19. I have a set of LRT's with the elastic keeper on the front of the riser and have not had a hang up with my excess line. I have had one break setting hang up once on the loop. Since then I have made a conscience effort to clear the break setting every time I release the toggles. Matt Davies

  22. I may be in the area this weekend. If there are any locals PM me or email me at kalamazoobase@yahoo.com Matt Davies
  23. I do it the same as riggersam. I cocoon the tail within itself (slider down/off). Slider up I cocoon the tail around the entire pack job. Matt Davies

    BASE helmets

I just picked up a protec full face helmet yesterday. It seems to be a pretty good helmet so far. And you cant beat the price $60. Sorry to stray off topic but Cookie has some good videos on his site also. For those of you that haven't checked them out they are pretty good. The newest one racking up our remains has a lot of new school jumps (rollovers and tards). Some cave jumps. A great sound track to boot. Also includes quite a few jumpers from this forum. Matt Davies
  25. This is for all our gear makers... My wife is constantly getting these coupons in the mail from places like Victoria Secret and bath and body works. She uses these coupons as though there isn't going to be one in the mail box the next day, which there is. We constantly get these things. For all you married jumpers out there you know what I am taking about. The coupons that say Buy 2 and get your 3rd of equal or lesser value FREE. Then your wife shows up with all this lacy crap that is over priced. She justifies it by saying "I couldn't pass up a deal like that! Do you know how much these things cost?!?" Well we all know how much that stuff costs... Too much! I wish that Morph. BR. or CR. Would send me these types of coupons in the mail. Buy 2 pilot chutes get 1 free.... Buy 2 complete rigs get 1 FREE. Or even half off. Now thats what I am taking about. Any of you that wants to send me a coupon like that just PM me and I will give you my address. Anyone else out there agree with me? I think that plenty of jumpers would jump at a offer like that. Thanks for letting me vent. Matt Davies
