My new desktop Thanks! Dave, I like the new avatar “- - Sumo is the greatest of sports. It has power, grace, speed and cluture. And most importantly, two fat bastards smacking the shit out of each other. ”

I'll give my $0.02, I've been looking at weights. Weight vest are the most common form to carry weight. Puts the weight up higher on the body, something a lot of women seem to like. Usually worn underneath the jumpsuit, can be uncomfortable on the shoulders. But since its under the jumpsuit, you can't take it off with your harness on. Weight belts, kinda new. Puts the weight in your arch, helps to drag down your hips. I've only ever seen it worn over a rig, lets you ditch if you needed to. But since its outside the jumpsuit there might be some concerns about what the wind could do, or of someone grabs onto it (Has anyone ever seen a PFF instructor with a weight belt?). Little more comfortable. What else can you do? Get a beer gut! Jump with floaty people, or work on your arch. You will be increasing you WL, so be ready to come in a little faster. I was scared about using 10lb of weight, but my landing didn't seem different. Hope that helps “- - Sumo is the greatest of sports. It has power, grace, speed and cluture. No, I wasn't. I'm just use to a different system, I'm from Canada. None of the student rigs at my DZ had packing cards or seals, which in Canada is perfectly fine, as long as the rigs don't leave the DZ and the info is kept someone on the DZ, say on a computer. “- - Sumo is the greatest of sports. Though I'd give a little update. This weekend I was playing around with the nose on my Sabre2 150. Made sure the nose cells were neat and even, put one fold in them and pulled the folded nose cells a bit out as opposed to doing nothing with them. I also kept my legs together, something I had been doing in the past but didn't work. All my openings were on heading, compared to none the last weekend I jumped. No really long snivel, was stowing the slider about 800' after deploying. Worked for me! “- - Sumo is the greatest of sports. It has power, grace, speed and cluture. I can think of one reason of why people might do it. A defense against people who believe that jump #'s are directly proportional to you knowledge level. If someone decides to flame you because you have made a comment they disagree with, it could lessen the flame. They could give you more respect because of a high jump number. “- - Sumo is the greatest of sports. It has power, grace, speed and cluture. Nope, it isn't. I would not get on a plane without knowing what gear I had. I teach students to verify their mains and reserves during gear checks, too. Always know your gear. Glad you're OK. _Am How do you verify the main when its packed? “- - Sumo is the greatest of sports. It has power, grace, speed and cluture. First off, don't worry! Your canopy is right that the point where it starts to loose its slipperiness. Next, let me say I feel your pain; I started to use a Sabre2 150 at 14 jumps, packing it into a rig that is only meant to hold a 135 (the manufacture of my rig told me flat out it would not fit). When I got it, it had zero jumps, and according to the rigger who packed the reserve, the main was EXTRA slippery. Oh, and to top it off, I had never put a canopy in the bag before. Ok, with that said, ask for help. Many people have been in your situation where they need to ask someone more experienced to help them. Just please remember that in the future, if you see another low time jumper struggling with their canopy to be there to help them out. Its just takes experience to know how to control a slippery canopy. There might not be much you can do differently other then keep trying. So long as you know what you should be doing, just wait, eventually you'll learn. Hey, I didn't quit and my pack jobs are down to about two and a half hours

Once was pretty congested. On the way up, I couldn't get my ears to pop until about 8000', and then it sounded like someone was slowly letting the air out of a balloon in the plane, never again. “- - Sumo is the greatest of sports. When I mentioned that to one of the instructors, he said to me LEAVE THE NOSE ALONE, otherwise the Sabre2 will take a long time to open, just passing it along. Yea, friend of mine got a taste of that, he was the first to jump my Sabre2, he rolled the nose and I think it took like 1500 feet to open, extra large snivel anyone? But I can only assume that one fold wouldn't slow the opening down much, instead it would keep the nose cells together, might make the it less likely to dive. “- - Sumo is the greatest of sports. Why hello! Another joins the club. Put 15 or so jumps on my Sabre2 150, hard right turn between 90 to 180 degrees once the canopy has inflated. Tried keeping my legs together, didn't seem to do too much but they weren't straight, I'll try that next time. But I was talking to one of the riggers at the DZ about it and she suggested I put a fold in the nose. But nothing like you might have done to an original Sabre. I think the idea she had was to make the canopy inflate more evenly, but I can't be certain. Anyone ever tried this? “- - Sumo is the greatest of sports. It has power, grace, speed and cluture. Do you have a link to the manufactures web site or a store that sells them? Did a quick search of google, DZ.com and para-service but didn't find anything. “- - Sumo is the greatest of sports. I was outside in the rain moving about 23 500 lb of furniture for 12 hours today, to round out an 80 hour week. Yea, could have been worse Vertifly “- - Sumo is the greatest of sports. Dang, I wanted to post that. =þ But still, eak! Anyone have any info about that? “- - Sumo is the greatest of sports. It has power, grace, speed and cluture. And most importantly, two fat bastards smacking the shit out of each other. ” -
But I didn't give advice on canopy selection, I gave my opinion. Hence the "My $0.02" and "I think" and "It seems". My advice was for Aliengirl to talk to her instructors as they have seen her under canopy. “- - Sumo is the greatest of sports. It has power, grace, speed and cluture. My $0.02 Just going by your weight, experience, and canopy size, I think you made the right decision. It seems to be a canopy you will be able to enjoy for a long time. Listen to your instructors, as they have seen you under canopy and would be the best people to give feedback to you. “- - Sumo is the greatest of sports. It has power, grace, speed and cluture. That's ad's a bit sketchy. Why not ship by something like FedEx; they have an option where the receiver pays the S&H costs. “- - Sumo is the greatest of sports. It has power, grace, speed and cluture. And most importantly, two fat bastards smacking the shit out of each other. ”

Ok, I'll try and answer some of your questions. And remember, there are no stupid questions, only stupid people Type 17 webbing is 1 inch wide, while type 8 is 1 3/4 inches wide. Only type 17 is usually referred to as mini risers. Hip rigs, is really up to you, just personal preference. I would say don't let the extra $20 or whatever scare you. But try on an articulated harness, then try on one that isn't, see which you prefer then follow your heart :) And just as a side note, I’ve been told that hips rigs and make a harness stronger. Something to do with the rigs carrying the weight I suppose. I know that kill line and collapsible PC's are the same. Centerline, though, I don't know, a center line is the peace of fabric that goes from the top of you PC to where the mesh ends. Could also refer to a bungee PC, but I doubt it since bungee PC’s aren’t common. Hope that helps! BTW, what kind of harness were you thinking of buying? “- - Sumo is the greatest of sports. Skydiving: How Old Then, How Old Now?
tinfoil replied to Kramer's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
19:19 What a great age -
I’ll start by saying I learned to skydive at a DZ that only does PFF (I’m Canadian, give me a break). I think it depends on the person jumping. Say a FJS is someone who is unlikely to make a second jump. In that case, a tandem jump makes sense. It will cost less then PFF, they won’t need to 6-8 hours of training that you might get in PFF, and I cannot imagine they would notice the person strapped to them. Sure, they would not spend as much time learning proper body position, but that’s ok because they won’t need it if it’s likely they’ll only do one jump. On the other hand, if you have someone who is likely to make a second, third, etc jump; this seems to be were PFF has an advantage. You start learning the skills you will use in future skydives on your first jump. “- - Sumo is the greatest of sports. It has power, grace, speed and cluture.
