  1. We are looking to offer these at our next boogie and I am trying to find a nice picture of a tandem exiting a helicopter to put on our website. Anyone know of any pictures I might be able to "borrow" for a month. (preferably out of a Bell 109! ) Many thanks, Al.
  2. you sure looks like your not having any fun!
  3. BTW... some updates on dates and aircraft.. Dates are 31 August to 5 September. Aircraft confirmed so far are: the LET 410. Augusta Bell 109 Helicopter (think Airwolf!) As usual all jumps are onto the beach. We are also looking at having a Porter and Dakota for a day but these are not confirmed as yet. Blue skies, Alun. Edited re beach.
  4. To book accomodation call Nigel at the Bantry House, we have negotiated a special rate for the boogie of £25 pn. Call 01534 732149.
  5. Hey rock on Biggles! Need to get you up in the air again...finish off that AFF course so we can carve up France with our respective skydiving skills! You've got another month to recover! Fuck me must have been a bad one though... just remember "Its not broken!"
  6. We normally recommend either the Bantry House, as we can negotiate special rates or the Rose Farm campsite. Both are relatively close to the airfield and equipped with bar and pool! Will pm you when I confirm rates. Al.
  7. Skydiving hadn't changed my view on mortality until I lost friends. After that I had a think and it brings to focus the reality of what can and unfortunately does happen occasionaly. However, is it enough to give it up??? Hell know! I rather die doing something I love. A friend of a friend had a heart attack this weekend and was found dead on his bathroom floor . He was 39 working 15 hours a day, 7 days a week. We all die... its the only certainty in this world. You takes your choice. Mine is skydiving.
  8. That about sums it up. Can pack, mostly pack, occasionally can't be arsed. I packed after my second jump. I found that learning actualy gives you a much better understanding of how a parachute wants to open...it all makes much more sense after.
  9. 97:0 Looking forward to that little no 1 .... bet its a right rush!
  10. Any number whos digits add up to a multiple of 9 is divisible by 9. Does this count as trivia or just maths?
  11. An octopus has three hearts.
  12. ha ha... New title "skydive extreem - how low can you go!"
  13. Why has no one come up with any skydiving games. Get the perfect formation, swoop the course - there has to be something out there for those windy days?
  14. A friend has a .5 he's willing to lend me so we'll see how that goes first but that .3 diamond does look juicy. Just have to save some more pennies I suppose! Cheers for the words camera god dudes!
  15. D'oh! Hadn't even thought about zooming in. Probably best to get the widest lens and then zoom to give more flexibility for other stuff like overhead rw stuff. Diamond lens looks nice but mucho wonga. Anything similar but not so wallet draining....?
  16. Last time.. a lot of ground, then the inside of my left arm. A bit of a formation for a mates 100th as I tried to dock on and missed, some more ground, my canopy when opened, the locked brake I had, my grinning face when I landed after my first jump. Just pissing about really. Ultimately probably do some ff stuff and formations for mates.
  17. Hi, Some quick q's. I have just ordered my FF2. Have a PC8 waiting to slot into my new baby when it arrives.... all I seem to be missing is a wide angle lens. I have 2 trains of thought on what I should be looking at. a) 0.3 - given this is a new thing for me I'm more likely to get stuff in but have been told you need to get really close to get good shots. b) 0.5 - more general purpose, don't need to get so close but feel would need to be more accurate with where I'm pointing... so what you all recon? and whats recommended in the lens department. Not big bucks please. This is a play thing only (at least at this stage!) Cheers. Al.
  18. Doing sl after aff is like learning to crawl after your a todler. IMO. The hop and pop is to prive you can get stable quickly on exit without needing 10k's worth of altitude.
  19. France is relatively cheap. Depends where you are...(forgot to look in your profile and i've started now so I'll finish). But if you are in UK it is easy to get to, sells cheap fags and booze, full of loose woman and has a vague wiff of garlic. Depends what floats your boat. Al.
  20. What are you jump ticket and rig hire prices? Can you confirm what aircraft you have? Do you have English speaking coaches? Sory for all the questions! Thanks, Alun.
  21. I was looking at one of these but have been told 10 weeks. Is that the case. Plus do Chute Shop have a site / does anyone have a telephone no or email for them. I need to order a bulk order of club rigs and these would suit fine. Cheers, Alun.
  22. Just a quick note to say thanks to all those that came over to join our little boogie. We had 5 days of unabated great weather and the helicopter turned up in the end, set a new Jersey formation record, saw several people past their hundreth, set a Jersey persons skydive record and had a cracking last night party! Particular thanks need to go to Darby, Jo and Pete Marsden for all their help during the week. Also like to thank Peter Dolbel for sorting out transport from the beach to the Aeroclub, George for driving Mike for all his help, all those who helped with the Marquee, Joe for his time on the beach and everyone else that helped in some way. See you all again for the next one in September.
  23. What this club currently lacks in facilities (they are being built) it makes up for in a great family atmosphere, a great plane, and not to busy. Regis and his wife Claire run the DZ and it gives off good vibes. Altitude 16k ft on last lift, normally a tracking dive followed by landing on a deserted beach to watch the sun set over the ocean. Beautifull. Great attention to those beginning their skydiving career! GO THERE!!!!!
