    Vannes, France

Used to be my home DZ but things have changed, unfortunately for the worst once JP moved on as the Technical Director. Much prefer Granville now in this area of France.
  2. Of course horizontal separation is the most important, however vertical seperation is an important and usefull backup IMO. I dont imply or advocate it as a replacement for H sep but it can and does help maintain distance, and does mean more than the nothing implied in the post above.
  3. plus not to mention it can help avoid everyone arriving at the landing area at the same time....
  4. I totally disagree with this statement. Ok it is less relavent when someone has a mal (whats that statisically once every 500 jumps?) but on the 499 it does have value and safety benefits.
  5. Do you have a min opening altitude at your DZ? 1,8k seems a little low. Our min is 2.5k and we spread opening hights over 2.5-4k for sports jumping. Helps to avoid issues like this.
  6. Well...its the next day.. Did 2 of the twin squirrel. First was standing on the skid with my mate opposite and just fell of backwards. 2nd was a 3 way skid hang on a sunset lift. That was the most fun I think I ever had on a jump. Falling away into total still air was awesome. Went from 5k. Pulled at about 2.5k. Landing on the beach and got treated to a fly by by my new best friend.... I cant stop grinning!!!!
  7. Well its 5 months down the line and in an hour and a half I will be putting the advise into practice. Wish me luck!!!!!
  8. Why not try and organise a gay record! I bet one hasn't been done yet!
  9. why does everyone shout beer when ever anyone uses the word first ? Its because they want a beer not a non alcoholic alternative. Personaly I would just leave it. If your not going to be drinking it - I wouldn't expect you to buy it....
  10. Horney gorilla...nice and easy with a 2 way. exit as a star. then bring your legs together with your bud and cross them over. Lean back into a sit with both arms outstretched. Once its good bring opposite arms in across your chest and you will start to spin and see how long you can hold it before you fly apart. Good fun way to start a dive.
  11. Hi Spike, I was looking at getting one of these. How do you find the package. Its a great price new. Are you happy with it (other than your slider anoyance?!?).
  12. I had mine made into a Union Jack the pack volume is bigger and I probably lost some performance but I jump in France so it was an absolute necessity. The design is stiched not sprayed and cost an extra £200 (US$300) to be put onto my Hornet 170 from PISA. There not making anymore so I don't know what the score is on that front. It does look the dogs bollocks tho.
  13. If your looking for cheap gear we are having a boogie next week and have some great deals on gear. We are a not for profit club so it gets sold at cost to club members. There may however be a Dakota around for a day (fingers crossed). DZ is open all week from 8am to sunset. All jumps are onto the beach. Cheap accomodation avaialable at campside and discounted rate at the a local hotel (both equiped with Bar and pool). Friday is free food pub event at the Original Wine Bar (those that came to our first boogie will remember - ok they probably don't remember all that much about it!) with videos from the week playing on the 20' projector screen. Jump tickets are £17 members £18 non-members to min 13k (normally more and occasionaly up to 16k). Helicopter ticket is £30 to 5.5k - 6k. AFF and Tandems also taken. 15. Hi mac, Thanks for the pm. Some good starting points. looks like i'm going to have to upgrade the pc now to. Quick look round the software requirements shows that need around 70gb to store and edit all the clips. More money!!! I did however find some good beginners tips on http://www.aboutvideoediting.com which did clarify some stuff.
  16. Right I've got my Sony PC8. I have a fairly old pc (pent III) and nothing else. I am looking to make some DVD's. Figured I will need the following: A DVD Burner. Firewire comes into the equasion somewhere. Patience. I would like to be able to make a DVD from the camcorder with a nice pretty entrance screen that will play on the majority of normal (ie not PC) DVD machines. Any ideas on what equipment / software I should be looking at?? Thanks.
  17. We are holding another one in Jersey from 1-7 September. Probably with the turbolet 410 and helicopter again.
  18. Trip to holland sound like fun... lots of extra curricular activities if the weather is bad Which DZ is that???? I have friends that regularly jump at Tessel and know a fair few of the instructors from there as they came and took tandems at our last boogie. Al.
  19. Asking "Cypres on?" is a gear check. If that had happened we wouldn't be talking about this now IMHO.
  20. You are very very naughty. Bad boy. Look after your equipment!
  21. Would any one care to let me know which dz this was so I know to avoid there money first attitude. I would be well pissed off if it was me. Students should be encouraged not discouraged. Probably felt bad enough then the added humiliation of being charged. Misserable sods!
