  1. Hey Paul, Chances are good that the DZ will be operating from next weekend onwards. I have some friends who are planning to jump there April 16-17 weekend. That weekend is also the Thai Water Festival, so, it might be a good idea to plan ahead for accommodations and such. Also, having your own gear would definitely be an advantage. I will be stationed at the Pattaya DZ from April 5 - 17 conducting some student trainings. Feel free to drop in for a jump or two... danniel lee Remember those who have left us Cherish those who are still with us, and Help those who need our help Life is short, live it!
  2. As mentioned by other TIs in this forum, tandem progression allows me to gauge the students reaction to freefall environment, his ability to pull the ripcord, and also allows me to teach and ensure that the student understands the canopy checks, controls and landing priorities. As soon as he has completed the Cat A & B of the USPA ISP, I then proceed to get him onto the AFF program (just completed 1 student using this program in the recently concluded Thai Sky Festival boogie held in Prachuap-Thailand
  3. Yes, it was my student that went to Australia to complete his course and carried on to log the initial required number of jumps to qualify for the Singapore boogie. Unfortunately, and understandably, due to the tight landing size of the DZ, the requirements were increased after much consultation with the safety committee (I was a member of the committee, formed on the 23rd hour). The organisers were too enthusiastic initially and wanted as many people as possible to participate, hence the initial requirements. If only we had been consulted at an earlier stage. Jumping in Singapore would be a nice feather on the cap as the only DZs are the ones that the military jump into. 4. My condolences and prayers goes out to his family and loved ones. I had met Peter L. only at the beginning of this year at Z-hills in March during a course. He is someone whom I find very responsible and dedicated to his work. This incident comes as a total shock to me. Only last week, he had sent an email to me requesting for some of the photographs we had taken during the course to be put onto his website. Rest well, my friend, until we meet again in the blue skies! Remember those who have left us Cherish those who are still with us, and Help those who need our help Life is short, live it!
  5. Hey TK, Danniel here from Singapore. Just checking for a friend how the weather will be like in the months of July/August? She is planning a trip there and wants to know the options. Thanks.. danniel www.skydiveasia.org Remember those who have left us Cherish those who are still with us, and Help those who need our help Life is short, live it!
  6. Personally, based on my size 5'6, I wear a baggy suit made by Tony suits and one made in Indonesia-Paration (USD60). They both have lasted me for the last 1000 tandems and they are great for control during exit and when having videos and also on the Handcam. Most of my students are usually smaller than me which gives me control. Once, I had a student about 5'2 doing a tandem, landing onto the beach in Bali and me dressed in shorts and t-shirt. After exit, because of her petite size, she started shifting from left to right even though the passenger harness and the horizontal straps has been tightened to fit her onto me. It did not feel good with her being able to "wander" below me. And so, baggy suits are for me from now on. Nothing against RW suits or street clothes, they do the job too, but this is just personal preference and a desire to live for the next tandem. "Make that one jump count for your passenger!"
