I came back to the sport a few years ago with my circa 1981 Racer. I bought a square reserve and converted from a GQ Security round that had passed the acid test. I wasn't comfortable and figured a square reserve would help when the spot wasn't right on. The exposed risers that Wingnut refers to are what freaked out people at the dz. Last year, my rigger found a good deal on a Talon someone had sitting in a closet, so I traded "up" to to a container a decade newer. I sometimes think that part of the deal was my rigger not liking to pack Racers, but I know the exposed risers really bothered him. He even mentioned it last night in a refresher course at the dz. I loved my Racer, and would consider one again when or if I need new gear. I've got enough round jumps to know that I don't really want to jump another if I don't have to, especially now that I weigh another 30 pounds more than when I had a round. Vint . . . . . Chap Stick plays a role in my favorite joke. This duck walks into a pharmacy and walks up to the pharmacist. He tells the pharmacist, "Give me some Chap Stick, and put it on my bill." Vint . . . . . Umm... I was just joshing with him. The San Diego Chargers are also known as the Bolts, and depending on the context in which "How 'bout them Bolts!" is taken, one could think that he was referring to the upcoming NFL draft, for which the Chargers have the first pick. For those of us who do not follow hockey, the fact that Tampa Bay has a NHL team is news. But I do know who Lord Stanley is, and the what that Cup is all about. . . . . . "Make it hard again." Yeah, with the first pick in the draft, you'd think they'd trade it off. They have a decent quarterback. Maybe some defense is needed? Oh.... you're talking hockey, aren't you? Vint . . . . . Just finished them. Now I have to get a printer cartridge for the printer tomorrow, print them out, sign and send 'em. The small refund is going to a new couch. Vint . . . . . "Make it hard again." Turbo-charged Cessna 206 vs normally aspirated 206
Jumpervint replied to clint's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
We run one of those here in Eastern Washington. Nice plane. I emailed the DZO and here's his response: "Our turbine would be a pukin' weak wimp in those conditions. Look how we slow down when we are 90+ and we are at 2400 feet not 4500. He really needs a turbocharged engine but really must mangage it carefully or there will be a lot of expense to cylinders." So I guess the Soloy option isn't a good one in Utah. Vint . . . . . "Make it hard again." Hello, Seems to me I've read here that a 2-pin Cypres can be converted easily to a one pin. Can someone confirm that for me? Thanks, Vint . . . . . "Make it hard again." Doc Ed “A person needs a little madness, or else they never dare cut the rope and be free” Nikos Kazantzakis

Billy, I have no opinion, other than I want to see your set-up when you get it. I'm thinking of getting a still camera to shoot with and will be curious about your experiences. Vint . . . . . :3:0 We had safety day yesterday, because March is not jumping weather in our area. Had a great day at a relaxed pace. The last jump was a 10 point 4 way. Could have made one more jump, but I wanted to savor the 4 way and save my money for later in the month when money gets tight. Vint . . . . . "Make it hard again." Don't grip the door on exit if you enjoy using your hand
Jumpervint replied to bch7773's topic in Safety and Training
One of our local jumpers had a problem like that last year. He had a good grip on the plane and the formation left sooner than he thought it would. Tore his biceps, so he spent most of last year on IR. He won't launch the formations anymore. Vint . . . . . "Make it hard again." Hey, Jeanne, I think we have to have some reason for the west siders to come over here. Besides the bock, Gonzo is supposed to return soon. What a combo, eh? Okay, I'll try it out. I let you know how it is. Vint . . . . . "Make it hard again." Doc Ed “A person needs a little madness, or else they never dare cut the rope and be free” Nikos Kazantzakis

new helmet for head down avil.

Hey, cool. As a former VP of the club, I'll have to make that load. My last jump in Snohomish was in 1986. Think it's changed any? Keep me posted on the dates, although you can tell me at Lost Prairie. I'm already saving for that. Vint . . . . . "Make it hard again." Jeanne, Does that look like Snohomish to you? How about Loy (Brydon?) Vint . . . . . "Make it hard again." Doc Ed “A person needs a little madness, or else they never dare cut the rope and be free” Nikos Kazantzakis -
We watched it when it was aired, and it was a big disappointment they didn't give it a bigger chance to catch on. My son gave my wife the DVDs for Christmas, and we've been doling out the episodes, or else we'd watch them all in one sitting. Josh Whedon is writing a feature length script. It kinda depends on DVD sales whether that moves forward, so everyone go buy the DVDs. You won't be disappointed. Trust me. . . . . . "Make it hard again."
