I thought Dudley was sweet on his horse? Or was that Nell sweet on Dudley's horse? Vint . . . . . "Make it hard again." Doc Ed “A person needs a little madness, or else they never dare cut the rope and be free” Nikos Kazantzakis

No middle name, just and initial, L, and no period after it either, or else it would stand for something, wouldn't it? Vinton L (which is what mom called me when she was angry....) . . . . . Attached is today's Pearls Before Swine comic. Now why would I think of Talkback? Vint . . . . . "Make it hard again." Doc Ed “A person needs a little madness, or else they never dare cut the rope and be free” Nikos Kazantzakis

I posted this in events, but I know Talkback gets more hits. Since the boogie in Stevensville has been canceled, West Plains has booked the Caravan. From the DZO, Rex Menke: "Well, it stinks that Mont can't do their boogie, so, we are going to invite ya'll to Spokane for the Labor Day Weekend. The 208 will come here from Kapowsin, and we will fly it and the Turbine 207 if we can ....do some formation loads. Make plans to come play here in Spokane with us and the Caravan. You can stay at the airport, camp nearby on Lake Roosevelt, or in the city park, and there are 2 nice motels in town. Come have some fun at a long overdue Spokane Boogie hosted by West Plains Skydiving. $10 boogie reg fee and beer and burgers, etc Sat nite. Rex and Pat ps - if you need info on the motels contact us and we'll try to get you rooms." The dz is 25 miles west of Spokane in Davenport, WA. Hope to see some of you NW jumpers there. Tom Berenger was featured in the Parade magazine that comes with the Sunday paper this week. His list of credits did not include "Cutaway". What's up with that? Isn't he proud? Vint . . . . . The latest issue of National Geographic has a one page photo with text about measuring the dive speed of peregrine falcons. It shows Leo Dickinson with a birdman suit on and a falcon at his finger tips taking bait used to get the falcon to follow. ""I was falling like a proverbial stone," says skdiver Leo Dickinson, "but sometimes it feels like our trained pergrine falcons don't play by the same rules of gravity"". Jumping with birds.... Our IMAX theater here in Spokane is having a film festival the week after next, and Adrenaline Rush is one of the movies scheduled to play. I will definitely be seeingit soon. I did see Matrix reloaded there a few months ago, and boy, do I not want to see 20 foot high skin blemishes again. Vint . . . . . "Make it hard again." While ICP is not my type of music, I hardly believe they could be the worst ever. There are way too many bands to compete for that title. (Starlight Vocal Band for example) And when I read articles like this, I remind myself that critics are merely people paid to foist their opinions off on the public. Just because they may be able to write and are forceful enough to state their opinions in public doesn't mean that they are right. It's all a matter of taste. Vint . . . . . "Make it hard again." Nice looking suit. Isn't it fun trying all the color combos and then deciding? I like the blue stripes on your grippers. Vint . . . . . "Make it hard again." Doc Ed “A person needs a little madness, or else they never dare cut the rope and be free” Nikos Kazantzakis

My suit arrived yesterday. The invoice says it was ordered the 15th of May. Of course, I regret not going for the rush, but... it's a hindsight thing. It fits great, looks good, has Shoe-Goo applied already and I can't wait until Saturday to give it a try. Vint . . . . . "Make it hard again." Lol, not after seeing Sunshine's! I don't have quite as much to be proud of as she does. Are we talking size or quality? Let us be the judges! Vint . . . . . "Make it hard again." Doc Ed “A person needs a little madness, or else they never dare cut the rope and be free” Nikos Kazantzakis

I will share your joy. My Bev suit just arrived yesterday. So that means lots of beer for both of us this weekend. Mine fits like it was made for me. Enjoy! Edited to add the pic. Vint . . . . . I did this in Utah once. I moved there and the first jump at the new dz was a malfunction. I got a repack, and the following week ended up putting the main in backwards. It flew fine (Strato Star) and I chose to keep it. Landed a bit rough because of not being able to judge the proper flair, but having jumped rounds, I knew how to do a rear PLF. My wife was watching the load from the ground, and she heard someone comment: " I don't know which to watch, the 'Dactyl or the guy with the canopy in backwards." A hint/tip: to fly it well, grab the opposite toggle and then input will be 'normal'. A 'left' turn gives you a turn to the left and vice versa. Makes it much easier to set up your landing. Ok, rabbit fans, here's the latest. The rabbit died. Too many maggots and the vet had to anesthesize the rabbit to continue the procedure of removing fur and maggots. There were complications. The vet felt bad about it and didn't charge anything. That could be because our dog died two weeks ago and there was a huge vet bill involved with that. I'm tired of digging graves for pets. Only one dog, 12 rabbits and 6 cats to go. Good thing I have a big yard. Vint . . . . . "Make it hard again." Oh, doubting Vint that I am. The maggoty bunny did indeed go off to the vet for antibiotics, a shave and further de-maggotting. Why is it I can only think of how many jump tickets this is gonna cost me? I could use the maggots for fishing, if I were a fisherman... Vint . . . . . "Make it hard again." Here's a good place for info: http://www.rabbit.org/. Now the down side. I spent an hour and a half last night picking maggots off one of our rabbits. They get this condition called fly strike (maggots live on their bottoms, spreading from there.) I notice that the rabbit isn't in the garage (where there's another sickly bunny) so I assume that it died after I left for the dentist this morning and my wife has buried it already. She may have taken it to the vet, but I doubt it. Indoor bunnies chew on EVERYTHING. They especially love speaker wires and curtains. They can be house trained, though. Out doors, they love to dig. And unless you handle them a lot, they do run when you even try to pet them. Me, I'lll be glad when we're out of bunny pets. Vint . . . . . "Make it hard again." I started the bidding days ago, but I had a set price in mind and it went way beyond that, and now the $305 is crazy IMHO. I could use a Cypres, but not at exhorbitant prices. Vint . . . . . "Make it hard again." Doc Ed “A person needs a little madness, or else they never dare cut the rope and be free” Nikos Kazantzakis

Am I mistaken? I have the idea that a used Cypres is worth approx. $100 a year of its remaing life. there's one on Ebay that has this descrition: "One pin expert, never fired. In excellent condition, batteries were removed when not in use, purchased in 1994. It will need the 4 year maintenance check and new batteries. Original invoice, manual, air travel card and replacement parts included." It's currently going for $305 and still needs a 4 year and batteries, and only has two years of life left. Doesn't this make it overpriced? Seems that there are better deals right here on dz.com. Vint . . . . . "Make it hard again."
