  1. When it's one of the many bank card offers, I like to go off like this: "Are you a bill collector? No? Well that's good, because I've been getting so many calls from the bill collectors lately. Say, what interest rate are you offering?" I've also used my Russian accent to feign a horrible understanding of English. vint . . . . . "Make it hard again." 2. I went to the site and was looking around. Did you see this pic? It was in the Whores section. Vint . . . . . "Make it hard again." Doc Ed “A person needs a little madness, or else they never dare cut the rope and be free” Nikos Kazantzakis
  3. Yep. Right here in Spokane, WA. See it just about every winter at least once. Vint . . . . . "Make it hard again." Doc Ed “A person needs a little madness, or else they never dare cut the rope and be free” Nikos Kazantzakis

  5. Is very copasetic redundant? How do you quantify copasetic? What exactly would the superlative form be? I say... most copasetic. Vint . . . . . "Make it hard again." Doc Ed “A person needs a little madness, or else they never dare cut the rope and be free” Nikos Kazantzakis
  6. First jump in Tooele, UT in 1978 - malfunction and cutaway. But the second jump was even more impressive. I put my rig back together, but got the main in backwards. Opened up to a perfectly flying canopy, only headed in the wrong direction. Managed to land it with a rear PLF, but the DZO did mention he was going to have to watch me for awhile. Vint ps- See you at Lost Prairie next weekend! . . . . . "Make it hard again." Doc Ed “A person needs a little madness, or else they never dare cut the rope and be free” Nikos Kazantzakis
  7. Kokanee. Good Canadian brew. The drink of choice at our DZ. Vint . . . . . "Make it hard again." Doc Ed “A person needs a little madness, or else they never dare cut the rope and be free” Nikos Kazantzakis
  8. Dang, I would hate to choose.... a 1937 Studebaker Coupe Express, or boobies! http://www.1957studebaker.com/jeffrice/jeff09.jpg Vint . . . . . "Make it hard again." Doc Ed “A person needs a little madness, or else they never dare cut the rope and be free” Nikos Kazantzakis
  9. As of July 3, 32 years. Lots of breaks, but I keep coming back. Vint . . . . . "Make it hard again." Doc Ed “A person needs a little madness, or else they never dare cut the rope and be free” Nikos Kazantzakis
  10. There's an estimate of 30 or so people from the Spokane area. Some are going over for the whole time, but most will be there the second weekend. Vint . . . . . "Make it hard again." Doc Ed “A person needs a little madness, or else they never dare cut the rope and be free” Nikos Kazantzakis
  11. Ordered my suit the first week of May. Called yesterday (July 8) and she said they're at 12 weeks for a regular order and to expect mine the first week of August, but be sure to call and confirm. I can wait. Vint . . . . . 12. This was my first, too. A 28' 7TU (gutted the lines to make it lighter), and then after the mandatory 100 round jumps, a Strao Star with the rings and rope. In a SST. Vint . . . . . 13. Tesseract was from the Spokane area, of all places. Not exactly a jumping hotbed. One of the members, Emmet Floria (sp?) still comes out and makes a few jumps now and then. He just turned 60 this year. I'm not sure who else was on that team and where they are. I could ask around if needed. Vint . . . . . "Make it hard again." 15. So, Icy cold medved' or icy cold pivo? I prefer pivo. Vint . . . . . "Make it hard again." Doc Ed “A person needs a little madness, or else they never dare cut the rope and be free” Nikos Kazantzakis
  16. 1:1:0 Spent a beautiful Friday evening and Saturday at the dz observing a FJC as part of the coaches progression. Watched 6 lifts go Friday (without me) and 14 on Saturday (w/o me) before I finally got on the last one of Saturday. Not the sunset load, because there weren';t enough jumpers there to keep the plane flying that long. We were done by 6:00. Yech. . . . . . "Make it hard again." 17. Lou Reed, Oingo Boingo and Big Audio Dynamite on the MP3 player while I work in the yard. . . . . . "Make it hard again." Doc Ed “A person needs a little madness, or else they never dare cut the rope and be free” Nikos Kazantzakis
  18. The Day the Earth Stood Still. When you're a kid, you don't realize the political connections of the movie. I just saw this huge scary robot from space with death ray eyes. Vint . . . . . 19. I'd like to see 'em get the permits for El Cap. That would be a smooth move and set all kinds of precedent to let others jump off it. Vint . . . . . "Make it hard again." Doc Ed “A person needs a little madness, or else they never dare cut the rope and be free” Nikos Kazantzakis
  20. 1:3:0 Got to the dz late on Sunday with questionable clouds. One low one on a student load - freaked out everyone on the ground because they thought my 15 second delay was the student and they were sure the student was headed for a Cypres fire. Then the clouds cleared and we got two to altitude. I always want more. . . . . . "Make it hard again." 23. This thread sure gives a whole different slant to the user rating - 'enthusiast', 'old-hand'. Too amusing.... Vint . . . . . "Make it hard again." Doc Ed “A person needs a little madness, or else they never dare cut the rope and be free” Nikos Kazantzakis
  24. That's the way our dz does it. It's more like IAD up to a 5 or 10 second delay, then to AFF 4. I haven't talked to any of the students who have done it yet, but it looks to be about 11 jumps to get off student status. Vint . . . . . "Make it hard again." Doc Ed “A person needs a little madness, or else they never dare cut the rope and be free” Nikos Kazantzakis
  25. 1:1:1 Father's Day "present" and only one jump, but it was on my new canopy , a PD190. A step up from the Unit I've been jumping since 1980 (big gaps in there w/o jumps.) Vint . . . . . "Make it hard again." Doc Ed “A person needs a little madness, or else they never dare cut the rope and be free” Nikos Kazantzakis
