-:2:1 Very slow weekend after the big blowout last weekend. Our 'Van only flew 5 loads all weekend after flying 50 last weekend. I was pressed into service as a tandem video guy today - our cam guy had a bad back. On the second jump I had a brake line blow up on a hard opening, so I elected to chop it. Got the tandem landing and then spent 3 hours looking though the alfalfa field for my free bag and reserve pilot chute. Beer owed for my first reserve ride this century - the first in 30 years. You are lucky. We had a young 19 year old woman hit a moose on the freeway last night. She got out to inspect the damage, and a p/u came along and hit the downed moose and lost control, hitting the young woman and killing her. Three other cars piled into the p/u before it was over. I showed the April Parachutist cover to a person unfamiliar with skydiving and they asked why is that guy with the wingsuit shooting death rays at those two guys on the end of the formation? (Good shot to hit ‘em while falling!) And is that person in yellow smiling while fighting back with the white puffy thingy? Totally a different perspective of a free fall. Vint . . . . . I was actually researching this for the car club I'm in. The regional get together in May is on Vancouver Island, so a bunch from Spokane were getting excited about getting passports and such. You can still cross the border via land or sea into Mexico or Canada and Caribbean until June 1st with driver's license and birth certificate. After that you need a passport, passport card or an enhanced driver's license. If you fly, you need a passport. Get a passport - easy, relatively cheap, and you won't get hassled. Closest skydiving to Lewiston, ID is West Plains at Ritzville outside of Spokane. Pretty slow (like none) now in the winter - might pick up later this month if it warms a bit. Next closest is Boise area. Either way you're looking at 3 hours of driving. Vint . . . . . "Make it hard again." Funny that. When I fly, I look at altitude and think how far would I fall... would I be able to breathe... would I pass out.... if the plane blew up right now, how far cold i track and screw up the investigators when they find my body X miles from every one else... who could I kiss pass on the way down... things like that. We went to a WHL game last weekend (Spokane Chiefs). Great stuff. Our normal goalie was gone to world junior competition, as well as our back-up goalie. Our regular? Tokarski. Vint . . . . .
