  1. JEEZUS...all I did was tell folks to bring some warm clothes to party in...I wasn't pulling a Pruitt!! (that was low, Lee - we all know the official whinging weather-b*tch job is taken!!) I'm there with bells on...cold or not cold....and I'm all about some mudslide races!! Kahurangi e Mahearangi, Kiwi, RB #926, AFF-I, FAA Snr. Rigger, RN/BSN/Paramedic
  2. Search for New Zealand on this thread...and you'll find COUNTLESS detailed descriptions of dz's. If you have any questions - PM me...I can help. Kahurangi e Mahearangi, Kiwi, RB #926, AFF-I, FAA Snr. Rigger, RN/BSN/Paramedic
  3. OMG....WTF!!! I knew themitchyone only through one phone call - I was hoping to get a job in CM a while back, and she was so nice in helping me get information on the area, outline expenses, etc. She was very sweet to me - and we PM'd for about a month solid. I'm just shocked, speechless, very saddened! This is just horrible - and my condonlences go out to her whole family! [edited: I just read where she was identified...this really sucks...I'm very saddened by this] Kahurangi e Mahearangi, Kiwi, RB #926, AFF-I, FAA Snr. Rigger, RN/BSN/Paramedic
  4. Hey - I did a SCR and I was AWESOME on it... then I never got initiated...so I'm forever the SCR OrFUN!!! I'm showing up late in the evening Wednesday night, so if you're doing a 'pimpin' for tandems' pub crawl...someone tell me where to be!!! I've already got plans to crash in Lee's apt that night, but if I get kicked out - his trailer's getting tipped!!! Kahurangi e Mahearangi, Kiwi, RB #926, AFF-I, FAA Snr. Rigger, RN/BSN/Paramedic
  5. I won't send you a PM, but I'm leaving after work on Wednesday...depending on how long you would want to sit in the airport (should get off work about 3pm...going to be by Hartsfield by about 4:30ish....if that isn't too long. There's always Houlihans' margaritas to keep you busy!! ;) If not - I'll see you when I arrive! Kahurangi e Mahearangi, Kiwi, RB #926, AFF-I, FAA Snr. Rigger, RN/BSN/Paramedic
  6. Yeah....but I heard he was a BRIDESMAID!! Kahurangi e Mahearangi, Kiwi, RB #926, AFF-I, FAA Snr. Rigger, RN/BSN/Paramedic
  7. don't forget bearfucker! See what happens when I wait too long to finish a post.... ...Y'all get off on a fucking tangent....and I feel left out!! Kahurangi e Mahearangi, Kiwi, RB #926, AFF-I, FAA Snr. Rigger, RN/BSN/Paramedic
  8. Hmmm...just a few inconsistencies with your response... You not only justify my argument - you make it for me...being 'open to the public' (e.g. a nightclub) and being a 'public place' (e.g. a city park) are two different things! When I enter a public establishment like Wal-mart, whose original intention is to be a family establishment, I practice a little self-restraint and curb some of my language and actions. Because I try to comply with the 'atmosphere' of the establishment. When I go to my dz...a PRIVATE institution with a known entrance requirement...where you had to be an adult to start skydiving, therefore, mostly adults go - I do not feel the same need to curb my actions - as I'm sure another adult either wouldn't mind what I do OR move away from it under their free will. No, but you can force your family INTO that situation. Your argument gets at the very nature of censorship. DZ's were created for adults...and if you want to subject your children to that environment - YOU make that choice. If you don't like what you hear - keep your kids out of earshot (like I see most families doing) But, (to use an analogy)don't turn on the radio to a station that you know plays good music and is geared for a particular audience...then criticize the station when they make a crude joke...and cry 'foul'. If you don't like what you hear - change the station - but why change the station when they're doing what they did to make you start listening to them in the first place? I'm sensitive to your plight - but - I also wouldn't bring my family around skydiving without taking a few precautions first...(like setting up their area away from the regular jumpers area)...and I would make sure that I had a little 'talk' with my kids to not repeat what they heard at a dz back at home. I know you're a good parent, but what do you really expect us to do - we're just blowing off steam...and I'm sure you are too - we just all have our own ways of doing it!! 9. Speaking of Lance owing things... I'll collect my Neptune from you at Dublin, thanks!
  10. ATL is good for having 4 dz within an hour's drive of campus - other than that - I find the city unappealing as a whole. (that's just me) UT Austin would be my choice though. Still an hour to SDSanMarcos, but the town is much hipper, much more eclectic - and the school has just as good as a reputation for all of it's programs - teams have better records too! Depends on what you're after, but if out-of-state tuition is necessary to pay...then I'd base most of my decision on which one was cheapest - ALL of the schools you mentioned were excellent schools for your degree. If I were to rank them... Tech UCSD UT UCLA ...but that's my opinion! Have you visited each of your 'top' choices? spend the summer going to boogies near each one, if you can, and check out the towns, school, living costs, etc. I bet you be surprised at the rental prices of each place...how VASTLY different they'd be. If you choose UT - PM me, my dad has 2 apts connected to his house not 3 blocks from the center of campus. Good Luck!! Kahurangi e Mahearangi, Kiwi, RB #926, AFF-I, FAA Snr. Rigger, RN/BSN/Paramedic
  11. It will be taller than the rest, shiny (fake), and have plaque on it that says something like... "2nd Annual Dublin Boogie Texas Hold 'Em Champion BRANDY GERRARD" Don't feel bad Lee, it's not how it gets into your house, but that it's there that's more important!!! Kahurangi e Mahearangi, Kiwi, RB #926, AFF-I, FAA Snr. Rigger, RN/BSN/Paramedic
  12. Does not being on the list somehow mean your attendance will be any less?? This list...that list...WHO CARES!!! JUST MAKE SURE YOU'RE ON MANIFEST'S[/B] list!! Kahurangi e Mahearangi, Kiwi, RB #926, AFF-I, FAA Snr. Rigger, RN/BSN/Paramedic
  13. I keep going back up because I was once told, early in my career, that UNTIL I had 500 jumps...I was going to suck at skydiving... And, now I only have 80-odd jumps to go before I no longer suck...!! Man - I can't wait until I can actually say "I'm a good skydiver!" That must be like over 1,000 - oh well...baby steps!! Kahurangi e Mahearangi, Kiwi, RB #926, AFF-I, FAA Snr. Rigger, RN/BSN/Paramedic
  14. I with you on the length of time of being a vegetarian...turned over my leaf when I was 15...haven't looked back. Do get the odd chide from other jumpers for being "the vegan", or for eating my "rabbit food". My counter-question to you, though, is why can't a majority of the VEGETARIAN population accept that not everybody who refuses to eat meat is in for the 'rights' of the animal?? I gave up eating meat for health reasons, and to cut a long story short - taste. Don't get me wrong, I still love the smell of good BBQ ribs slow-cooked with lots of sauce, but I can't stand that stringy taste that meat leaves you with. Yet, when you talk to another a vegetarian - they almost always automatically go off on a 'rights' tirade. Now, I'm not FOR abusing the animals, but hell - with the worlds population at present...we farm animals the same way we farm vegetables...why is it any different to eat a stem of broccoli grown in a field en masse than it is to eat a cow grown in a field (or pen, or what-have-you) en masse? It's not like they're born with any hopes other than being killed an eaten...much like the vegetables aren't ever grown with any more hope of "living the good life" (you know...growing old...marrying a beautiful cauliflower...raising cute little florets together in a nice grove with a tree) I guess this is a nothing post, but if you don't criticize what I eat/do - then I won't feel obliged to do the same....and the same goes for OTHER VEGETARIANS!! My Dad's meat 'rule' - knock it on the head, cut the horns off & serve. "hey - this cow's been in the sun...it's over cooked!" Kahurangi e Mahearangi, Kiwi, RB #926, AFF-I, FAA Snr. Rigger, RN/BSN/Paramedic
  15. You didn't have to say that - I knew it already... ...because everybody's in my league... ...if you're younger than 20....so it seems! Kahurangi e Mahearangi, Kiwi, RB #926, AFF-I, FAA Snr. Rigger, RN/BSN/Paramedic

  17. Jeezy-Chreezy, Kel... Just tell him already...they say the first step is denial!! [robert palmer tune]"might as well face it, you're addicted to [TOM]"[/robert palmer tune] Kahurangi e Mahearangi, Kiwi, RB #926, AFF-I, FAA Snr. Rigger, RN/BSN/Paramedic
  18. Wouldn't hurt...and if you can get any other ratings b/w now and then - that would help 'sell' you more, I'm sure. I don't believe most dropzones would take a 'walk-on' camera guy, but if you were a tandem/camera/packer-guy - they could probably put you to work. It might pay to start an email campaign now...try to get some contacts down there - tell them your experience, send them some examples of your best work...SELL YOURSELF. Who knows...might have a job waiting for you by that time! On a personal note - PM me & let me know how you come along...I'm interested in doing the same thing in a couple of years...if not moving down there altogether! Kahurangi e Mahearangi, Kiwi, RB #926, AFF-I, FAA Snr. Rigger, RN/BSN/Paramedic
  19. And folks call me 'sleazy'!! Kahurangi e Mahearangi, Kiwi, RB #926, AFF-I, FAA Snr. Rigger, RN/BSN/Paramedic
  20. Modesty suits you! Dang, she wasn't even taking it seriously...she was just playin' around!! Gosh...Chris must really be lame! Kahurangi e Mahearangi, Kiwi, RB #926, AFF-I, FAA Snr. Rigger, RN/BSN/Paramedic
  21. Dang it, Kel - had I known there was this much drama around you I would have queried you about it on Sunday! Here's my .02: Be honest to yourself more than anyone. Look at how you feel/act around this person, and whether or not you're 'signalling' to that person you like them. How does he respond back to you? Have you found yourselves alone (at the dropzone) together talking...what was the conversation like, friendly, flirty, ?? Do you consider this person a friend outside of the dropzone? If so, then you should be able to approach them openly, honestly & not suffer the rejection of a 'no thanks' right away. If he is a "decent" person - and isn't interested, he could/should/may just thank you for your honesty, hug you, and tell you that he prefers to be friends. If he doesn't do that - he could wrap you in his arms, lay you back, and plant a wet one right on your lips!! What do you lose?

  23. Deal - I hear you can FF your a$$ off...something about how you were "coaching" the BadFish team with less than 400 jumps...That's TALENT!! Man, those guys must really blow! And, you're definately cuter than Ian (sorry bro...no offense, but Katie has you beat in that dept too! Don't feel too sorry for yourself - it's quite common for SA'fers to come up short in life!)...but with the feet thing - you're on your own there, sister! Kahurangi e Mahearangi, Kiwi, RB #926, AFF-I, FAA Snr. Rigger, RN/BSN/Paramedic
  24. Give us a bit of a break, Ian...we're an island nation. Lamb and fish mostly...you know, normal foods. (not that I would know!) Can we help it if we go to Johannesburg and get served up Aardvark steaks, a helping with bbq'd Termite Queens, and a side Venus Fly-trap salad with Yak-milk Ranch topping?? Any normal person would get sick for days... For some reason - you lot consider that NORMAL!! Down right in-human if you ask me! SAVAGES! Go shag a zebra and be done with it, will you?
