I know this horse has been beaten to death, but if any of you have not been yet check out Skydive Charleston's homepage, (those of us that jump at ASC will get a kick out of this). I may be loosing my mind, but that picture under facilities sure looks like ASC before the deck went up doesn't it?? Maybe I'm wrong.............then agian, maybe I'm sooooo right that you just can't stand it. It's easier to ask forgiveness than permission.

Definately hook up with Nate Gilbert if you get down to ASC, or if you happen to be in Eloy, hook up with TJ Landgren. I've got close to 45 free fly coach jumps between the two of them, and you will be amazed at the results. It's easier to ask forgiveness than permission.

Sorry dude, I tried to PM you, but for one reason or another, I couldn't get through. Was hoping you would read this. Just don't want to see anyone go splat. It's easier to ask forgiveness than permission.

I've had nothing but great dealings with Sherri. I bought my first suit from her, and even after some jumps when it was apparent that I needed more drag (my fault not hers), I called, explained what I needed, sent it out overnight, and had it back in four days free of charge. You can't beat that!! It's easier to ask forgiveness than permission.

Found this in the classifieds section, does this type of thing concern anyone else?? It's easier to ask forgiveness than permission.

Dude, you will not be disappointed. Especially if your looking to do a lot of jumps. That plane hauls ass, and Mike is a good stick. It's easier to ask forgiveness than permission.

Try this one on for size: When I was a teen ager and moved to California, I dated a Mormon, broke up with her due to lack of ass getting,..and then (because I enjoy torturing myself) I started dating a Jahovas witness. Lack of ass getting was the least of my problems, this chick and her mom would pop by unannounced with members of their curch, cult, click, group, whatever...and explain to me HOW I was going to hell. This continued even after I told her good-bye....until I answered the front door naked. That one did the trick. It's easier to ask forgiveness than permission.

Changing a baby is a natural and needed thing, but I don't want to see you do it while I eat, nor do I want to see you rip your top off and feed your baby (both brests exposed with your shirt around your neck as this thread started). Z I want to see you rip your shirt off with both breasts exposed. i think what this really boils down to is jealousy, because the kid can get away with it. Which had nothing to do with the TSA,....According to the report I read, she was detained, cited for breaking a city ordinance which prohibits carrying a concealed weapon into a public place (like an airport), paid a small fine and released. I can't believe I get speeding tickets for speeding when i have a good excuse, but it happens. It's easier to ask forgiveness than permission. -

You won't get a huge argument out of me, a void needed to be filled and it was. Does it need to be changed? Absolutely. Will the searches go away? Never. You can bank on the TSA staying as well, if for only this one reason. Before 9/11 the airlines had to pay for contractors to supply security scanners. Now that the TSA (a government agency) is in place the airlines no longer foot the bill. There is a "fee" added to every ticket price on all US carriers, which pays for the TSA. So technically if you choose to fly you are the one paying for the TSA. So let's say hypothetically speaking, a new administration comes in and announces they are going to do away with the TSA. (this by the way would be political suicide) The airlines pipe up with "Without the TSA personell and equipment we can not ensure safe travel" is this a true statement, no, (without TSA they will have to spend money) however such a statement made publicly would definately effect public opinion on the new administrations views on providing for safe travel. It's all political jockeying bullshit. It's easier to ask forgiveness than permission. -

Out of morbid curiosity, how exactly would you have dealt with the issue of airline security after a terrorist cell had bypassed the system in place, gained control of four different aircraft, and then killed some 4,000 people, and as an after effect put tens of thousands of people out of work, and the entire country into finacial termoil. I just gotta know what the all inclusive answer is. I'm not saying the TSA is perfect, far from it (I work in the safety department of an airline, we are not friends). Hell I fly 3-4 days a week, work for an airline, and have already had the FBI check and all of that other shit, and I still have to deal with them. But the situation required an immediate reaction. Terrorists look for and exploit opportunity whether it is in the reserve container or a baby's diaper, or in a grandmothers purse. In one huge incident aircraft were proven to the entire world to be a great terrorist weapon. The idea is to make things more difficult for a terorist to get on or take over an aircraft. Unfortunately that equates to a minor inconveniece for the traveling public, but if it helps to prevent another 911..........Why Not? Previously, security scanners were contracted through any variety of companies, required no edcaution, and minimual training to sit at the X-ray machine, and were not required to go through standardized recurrent training. With the formation of the TSA, over thousands of "scanners" were let go because of a criminal past that included some type of violent crime. (I believe your idea was to beef up this existing force) So this guy was a prick, I'll go on a limb and say this probably wasn't this persons first encounter with an asshole. Oh yeah, who is Kate Cooper??? It's usually just better to plan on asking forgiveness instead of permisson It's easier to ask forgiveness than permission. -
Man I feel old I went straight thru the questions once and got a 65.5. Sad Sad It's easier to ask forgiveness than permission.

I live in Tucker, Ga which is right next to Stone Mountain. Monroe is definately the closest, but with traffic and stop lights and shit it might take a while to get there, (I've been told 45 - 60 mins) I HAVE NEVER BEEN SO I DON'T KNOW FOR SURE. ASC is where I've done almost all of my skydiving, including AFF, and like SkyMonkeyOne I could give a fuck about DZ politics, although I've seen some things that have been kind of a buzz kill. ASC does tend more to be a tandem factory, but there are some great fliers there. There are not an over abundance of outs, but to that end it makes landing anywhere else a breeze, and it is about 1.5 hours from Tucker/ Stone Mountain. I've only jumped at Thomaston a few times, but I will say they have the best facilities and landing area, plenty of outs, the freefly scene is kick ass, and they have beautiful uhhh scenery.(yeah that's it). The parties there are top of the line. Of course there is no pond, but it is actually 15 -20 minutes closer to Tucker/ Stone Mountain than ASC (I've been making the drive to ASC for a year and I don't care what the web-site says)maybe not in actual distance, but in driving time. Takes about 1 hour and 10 minutes. And to boot they have a Super KingAir that takes in the neighborhood of 8 or 9 minutes to altitude. You've got choices dude. It's easier to ask forgiveness than permission.

Ever had a problem with your rig at the airport?
DiverDanH2O replied to Hazarrd's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Personally, I've never had any issues other than the TSA at PHX and FPT asking what it was and then being cleared. However I do have a friend who flies on my buddy passes fairly often out of Newark (EWR) and without fail every time he does so with his rig, they stop his silly ass. Apparently, the Newark TSA is OK with something they can't ID going in cargo, but not up top. Most airlines Security and Compliance departments (I work for one of them) have approved AAD's to fly on their aircraft, as has the FAA. USPA.org has some really good strategies for dealing with any TSA's (like Newark) that have no idea what they are looking at, including the approval letter from the FAA. I started by skydiving habit at ASC with a tandem. To put it mildly it was the thrill of my life. So much so that I came back and went through my AFF. After AFF I immediately started Freefly Coaching, few places give the opportunity to learn with not one but three world champion freeflyers one of whom is an Atmosphere Dolphin D holder (there are only three in the world)and of all the drop zones in the world, they chose ASC. The atmosphere is friendly and family like, and only the finest instructors and videographers are permitted on staff. I have logged 85 jumps in the last six months at ASC and have never needed to complain. Scotty Carbone and Tammy are now here with the cutaway cafe (yes one that serves food), and the food is delicious. There is a defined swooping area,as well as a swooping pond, and pets and children are always welcome. Add to all of this daily organizing for freeflying, belly flying, and tracking as well as second to none tandem masters you can't go wrong. Give 'em a try you won't be disappointed. As a note, ASC is the busiest dropzone in Georgia, and the some of the other near-by Georgia drop zones, not liking the competition, sometimes write reviews and complaints they hope will damage a well deserved reputation in an effort to court potential customers. I hope you will not fall into this trap, I am not an employee of ASC, I spend my hard earned money there every chance I can because I choose to, and the people there keep me coming back for more.
