I am just pig sick of the weather here in Germany. I was looking forward to some nice jumps today and what have we got. Rain, rain and more rain It started raining yesterday and is not going to stop until tonite. Forecast for tomorrow is cloud cloud and more cloud Anyone want to offer me a job at one of those American DZ's with sun and warmth all year round? Dave Fallschirmsport Marl

I'll swap you a reserve for 250 LSD tabs Dave Fallschirmsport Marl -
I heard this one myself over the i-com at my DZ. Tower to Aircraft: Can you give me your current position? Aircraft: Just behind the highway over a forest. The airport is surrounded by loads of highways and forests Dave Fallschirmsport Marl

Interesting fact : More money is spent on gardening than on any other hobby! Thank god I took up skydiving. Dave Fallschirmsport Marl

I find the "snappiness" in velocity tends to be in the vertical if you know what I mean. You pull on the front riser and you get that sinking feeling in your stomach, just like when an elevator starts to go down. The brake lines on a velocity only seem to be useful for 3 things : 1. Getting back from long spots 2. Flare 3. Digging out of the corner (One should not make this a habit) For steering the rear risers are much more fun. Dave Fallschirmsport Marl

Interested in Opening a Drop Zone...Few Q's...

your avatar is NSFW! How to make a small fortune running a DZ? Easy, start off with a large fortune. Dave Fallschirmsport Marl -
Kris... I think you've got a little confused. I agree with you totally. I was saying that 1.5 is too high for someone with 170 jumps. I liked the comment from a guy at our dropzone that recently bought a Crossfire. He's been doing loads of jumps from 5K just to fly his new canopy. I asked him if he had got to know his canopy yet. His answer? Ask me again after I have 500 jumps on it Dave Fallschirmsport Marl

What the fuck was the person thinking who let you fly something loaded at 1.5 when you only have 140 jumps Dave Fallschirmsport Marl

There were two goldfish in a tank, one said to the other.... do you know how to drive this thing? Dave Fallschirmsport Marl

Is there a sun bed (solarium) near it? Dave Fallschirmsport Marl

They certainly don't all turn at the same speed, they don't all lose the the same amount of height during a turn. Different canopies have different glide ratio's. There is always risk involved in downsizing, changing wing form, etc. Only change from your current canopy after consulting with your instructors or someone with lots of experience. And do it face to face, not on the internet. Dave Fallschirmsport Marl

Skydiving Injuries: Truthfully...Do You...
speedy replied to RkyMtnHigh's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Truthfully, I would jump unless it was physically/mentally impossible. It's not what you should do, but what the hell Dave Fallschirmsport Marl -
Jump number 36, Springo 160 loaded at 1.05:1 Was it a bad idea? Hell yes, Springo's flare like shit You can kill yourself on any canopy. It's just easier if they are small and elliptical. Dave Fallschirmsport Marl

Was in debt a long time ago. I borrowed the money from a bank to pay it off and then fled the country I figured the bank would be less of a problem than the credit card company. I was right Dave Fallschirmsport Marl

Just wanted to add, that if you are going to hit an object, brake your canopy ( flare ) first. Dave Fallschirmsport Marl

I voted yes. Unfortunately way to many for my meagre 4 years in the sport Dave Fallschirmsport Marl
-
I voted no. I thought for a moment this is not likely to happen to me because I don't socialise with the people I know at the DZ outside of the DZ. Apart from my girlfriend of course, and Team members, and ... hmmmm. Fortunately, I have not witnessed a serious accident to someone I know well. (Broken ankles don't count as serious ) Although it may happen, I can still hope it won't happen. What an awful subject for monday morning (or any time) Dave Fallschirmsport Marl

I've done some CRW jumps and a few downplanes, so let's see if I understand this. I pull low and have a two out. Which foot do I grab? My left or my right? I think CRW is a something that every jumper should try, as you learn so much about canopy flight. I am not really convinced it helps that much in a two out situation. More helpful is the two out report that has been posted here many times. Dave Fallschirmsport Marl

I agree with everything you say. I am also not 100% sure when the time comes if I could do the unusual thing of going straight to the reserve. But, that is my plan. Let's hope I am not stupid enough to need it. As you have said teaching E.P's is not the same as actually using them. Maybe I have more experience using them than the AFF-I Was that a joke? WTF is basic linear ??? Sorry, but it does not expalin what the editor does for me Dave Fallschirmsport Marl

Well, although the plane is being used here in Germany, it was kitted out to American spec. So I guess it is legal. Dave Fallschirmsport Marl

In our jump ship the seat belts have on the end sort of large RSL hooks. Jumpers tend to hook them onto the hip rings on their rigs. Once past 1000ft they just pull the red tab and their unhooked. My question is, could this damage/scratch the hip rings, leading to excessive wear on the harness, leading to Has anyone heard of this happening? Dave Fallschirmsport Marl
