I am using a throw-out now, but will be converting to russian style pull-out this week.

I found a bent reservpin on a Tear-drop while inspection and reservpacking. It was bent by the former rigger who had tightened the loop waaay to much. So, foolproof pin-protection on the back-pad is not that foolproof after all... Cheers

We had a girl at our dropzone with a similar problem that had two reservrides because of hard pulls. She had no problems at all pulling the PC on the ground. Turns out she was so flexible that, when arching hard at pulltime, she actually squeezed the spandex real tight with the backside of her legs/ass, making it to hard for her to pull... The rigg was maybe a little big for her aswell, but really not that big.

Here in Sweden we do that all the time. On the other hand we dont have any problems with lawsuits, that seems to be a specific US-problem. As long as the student is old enough to understand what he/she is getting them self into and they are big enough to fit the harness, I dont see a problem. BR, /D

I have a two customers that have problems with consistantly hard openings (BT-60 & Sabre 150, surprised?). I have checked their packing methods and found nothing wrong. Next step I was thinking about is installing a slider-pocket for them. I have never done this before but seen quite a few different methods on how to do this. My question is, what method would you guys recommend? I would be really happy if you also could include a picture and a description on how its done the best way. Thanx, /D

So, if you think that your reserv would not survive a headdown deployment, you might as well stick with what opens the fastest? Well, any TSO´d reserv should stand the heat, unless your overloading it or doing a speed-skydive. The big question is... Will you? All reservs have slightly different opening and flight characteristics. Tempos are quite known to open really fast compared to a PD-R or PdF Techno. This is of course good in some situations and bad in others (for example an premature headdown deployment). Another thing to think about are tandemreservs that are designed to open relativly slowly in case of a drougeless fullspeed malfunction (~350 km/h). A Tempo or any other reguler reserv would probably kill the TM and passenger. I hope I made my opinion clear for you. I´am sorry about being difficult to understand sometimes. English isn´t my native language... Stay safe! /D

The Tempo is well known to open EVEN HARDER then other known brands and is NOT recommended for freeflying for just that reason. I did not claim that he should get a reserv that opens slow, but I do claim he should get one that has "normal" reserv opening charactersistics. I hope this was a bit more clear /Daniel

I would try to stay away from the Tempo reserv if I were you... A premature reservdeployment while freeflying is always bad, but the Tempo is known to make it even worse because of its extremly hard openings. Anyway, if your in on the PdF Atom, why not use PdF´s Techno reserv? As for the choice between the Sabre 2 and the Silouette, I would go for the Sabre 2 becuse of it´s durability and performance. The only reason I can see to go for the Sillouette is if you want to save a few bucks in the short run and get some easier packing. Good luck with your purchase, /Daniel

Thanx for your input. I´am also thinking about converting to a pull-out system to get rid of PC-hesitation and get better opening timing. So, it seems that the recommended size and type would be a standard F-111 28-30 inch PC. I will also scrap my idéa about the vented PC... What problems could there be with a pilot-chut that is to big? BR, /Danne

Hi, We have been talking about having a tracking contest at our club. The problem is that nobody knows how to do this. I would appreciate any tips on how to perform such a contest (rules, no-no´s, safety, jump-run, judging). Thanx, /Daniel

Hi, I am looking for a new pilotchute for my CReW-rigg. I use a PD-ligftning 160 that i freepack in a old Javelin container. I jump from both fast and slow planes (Cessna and skyvan). What kind o pilotchute size and modell would you guys recomend? Would a vented pilotchute used for Base-jumping maybe help the openings stay on-heading?
