Congratulations for your effort! From my experience (12 years 4-way camera), showing good exits is nice but only half of the job. If I am beginner I would like to see common mistakes - not as blooper section, but how they look from cameraman view and what to do to help myself in case of.... I agree that each one of us should develop his own style and those are only guidelines.... If you are interested in some Cessna (C-185) footage let me know. Regards, Boris Pecnik

Robert Pecnik leaves Birdman, starts Phoenix Fly
Sirob replied to kevin922's topic in Wing Suit Flying
Hi ManBird, It is not true! These facts were available on previous versions of BM Web-site but now they seems to be forgotten. Robert made his first Wingsuit in November 1998 in Croatia completely alone. He tested his first WS himself in Croatia where he made 5 jumps and additional 5 with the second WS prototype. Than he made three prototypes, similar to nowadays Classic I, which he brought in March 1999 to Florida where Jari and Irene Hesling made there first WS jumps. Picture you are talking about was taken 8.5.1999. at well known place. WS you can see on the pictures are exactly those suits made by Robert and brought to Florida in March 1999 with small adjustment for BASE purposes. Shortly after that, production of BM suits started in Slovenia. -
Hi all, Since many people are asking for the music, here it is. First one is Apocalyptica, album Reflections, track number 5 - Drive. And the second is Kotiteollisuus, name of the song is Jos Sanon. Regards, Boris

My point was not vertical speed as number. Average speed of our 4-way is 197 km/h and Robert is not wearing additional weights, so that is his "normal" speed in FF. If you compare those two values it looks very nice. I think that light jumpers can go close to 100 km/h in that combination (BASE Pantz & Jacket).

Sorry, I have no pictures but probably you will see Robert with new toys on Bridge Day. There you can ask all other details.

Last weekend BirdMan Robert was testing new toys (still under development). He jumped with BASE Pantz & Jacket and had average vertical speed 122 km/h according to his ProTrack. Forward speed was great and he was flying over DZ like glider. Some thought he is flying WS.... Even he was surprised with the performance!!!
-
So far I have seen only one WS for back flying and it was Pierre Desmet suit. It was modified Crossbow type suit with vents on the both sides of the wings. He used it for excellent videos and photos of WS flocks....

BirdMan Robert and Nenad Pesut made WS tandem jump on 17.6.2000. in Vrsar (Croatia). Robert had Skyflyer prototype and Nenad had Classic WS. They jumped from 4000 meters, freefall was without drouge till 1500 meters and opening at 1200 meters. As they said, jump was fun, without problem, very easy and they felt some lift during FF.

"...video from Robert`s head, part before opening...", look on the ground, slightly above center. It is not so easy to see it but look at the biggest file. ..from 1:38 till opening (1:44).
-
If you look carefully video from Robert`s head, part before opening, you can see Robert`s shadow on the ground. There you can see how fast Robert is flying!!!

According to data I found on the web, train station Alpiglen is at 1616 meters and mushroom is about 3200 meters (if someone knows exact height pls.correct me). Distance between those two points is uknown to me at the moment (waiting to find some detailed CH map). Robert had open canopy at 150 meters....
-
Correction! Robert made 1 minute and 13 seconds from Eiger. (SMS mistake...) Anyway, it is unbelievable performance!!! Video looks great, wait for week to collect some other angles... Yes, he is jumping Troll and Gargoyle...what else?!
-
BirdMan Robert jumped yesterday his Skyflyer from mushroom and opened over train station Alpiglen. Jump was 1 minute and 18 seconds!!!! His SMS message was "1 minute 18 seconds. I opened over train station. Super fantastic flight!!!". Right now (8.30 CET), he is climbing for one more. Video of the flight can be expected in the next few days when he return back home.
