  1. absolutely! I understand all of the things that you have said. I agree wholeheartedly, but it seems to me that you may be so preoccupied with the danger aspect that you could be over analyzing the sport.Yes, it is highly dangerous and yes it is potentially fatal, but do we dwell on these things or do we live our lives to the fullest extent. My best advice is either relax , jump, and enjoy yourself, or don't Play stupid games, win stupid prizes!
  2. I commend you for exploring all of your options before jumping into a life changing situation.I also understand your need for life insurance. But,at the same time, I wonder if you've truly recognized what skydiving truly is. It is more of a way of life than something you go and do on the weekends. We create our own policies through safety, training and currency.Nothing else will keep you from getting hurt.Just like any other extreme sport, things can and do happen. I think before you shop for insurance you should ask yourself if you are really prepared to take and accept the risks involved Play stupid games, win stupid prizes!
  3. is this true? are you sure? has anyone heard from wally? what the fuck!!!!!! Wally, I love you man!!! I swear I'm not gay Rodriguez Play stupid games, win stupid prizes!
  4. ***I know that high performance landings done by inexperienced jumpers are dangerousQuoteI think you miss the point. High performance landings done by ANYONE are EXTREMELY dangerous.Always remember that. Play stupid games, win stupid prizes!
  5. By all means you should have the canopy checked. If nothing else, have an experienced jumper( an instructor or some other highly experienced canopy pilot) take it for a ride.People with lower jump numbers often get caught up with watching the pilot chute leave their back.Bad body position on deployment can often lead to off heading openings and in more extreme cases line twist. If someone jumps your canopy and tells you it's fine, you must make a more concerted effort to stay in a stable, on heading, "box" position. My girlfriend had a hard time for the first few jumps on her new sabre2 135.There is nothing wrong with the canopy( she absolutely loves it now) but she had to be more vigilant on opening than on some of her previous canopies.give it a try and post the results. 6. dude, get a coach. Don't waste time and money trying to learn by yourself. It will take you three times as long. Play stupid games, win stupid prizes!
  7. oh feel the love !!!Sorry, but you know I'm an otter brat. These new fangled airplanes and their funny tailgate doors just don't do it for me. ( In case you didn't notice I'm reaching really hard for an excuse. Play stupid games, win stupid prizes!

  9. jeez raf I have to say I agree with at least some of what these people are saying.Just have a little respect, that's all. That kid died defending your right to drive your expensive british SUV through the swoop pond on a drunken binge..... Play stupid games, win stupid prizes!

  11. Wings (sunrise rigging) makes extremely nice rigs.My girlfriend and I both ordered our second ones. Javelin is now up to a 22 week wait. Why wait that long for a rig when you have other choices that are just as good or better? Play stupid games, win stupid prizes!
  12. believe me, You probably don't want to go to the bars in Z-Hills. Stick with Paul's bar there are probably less diseases. fire hot Play stupid games, win stupid prizes!
  13. I would get ahold of TK Hayes at Skydive city. We just enlarged our pond and it looks very nice. They dug a well and put a pump to keep it clean and full. So far it seems to be working nicely. Randy Play stupid games, win stupid prizes!
  14. no offense taken at all dude! Play stupid games, win stupid prizes!
  15. I agree whole heartedly that a sabre2 at 1:1 is a fine place for anyone to start out on.I think I am more concerned with what I perceived to be a premature infatuation with high performance canopy flight. I'm not saying don't learn how to swoop by any means. I just think that someone with 50 jumps who doesn't own their gear has so many other things to think about. I'm sure I'm not the first person to use the phrase " let your abilities catch up to your balls" Randy Play stupid games, win stupid prizes!
  16. I understand where you are coming from dude, but please don't misunderstand me. I'm not trying to be a jerk or sound like a skygod (300 jumps). I jumped a Sabre 170 loaded at 1.26 for more than 200 jumps. I have just stepped down to a Sabre 2 150. I just want you to realize how fast your canopy can go,both horizontally and vertically. It can and will kill you. Make no mistake about that. I have scared the living shit out of myself out of myself under that 170, and I consider myself a fairly conservative pilot. Just food for thought. Play stupid games, win stupid prizes!
  17. Nothing personal dude, but I would probably wait till I had more than 50 jumps before I start worrying about high performance canopy flight.I come from a busy dropzone and have seen quite a few people, including some close friends join the helicopter club.Have you ever seen a compound fracture? If you're gonna be dumb you gotta be tough..... Play stupid games, win stupid prizes!
  18. Have you made it to Z-Hills yet? you should give us a try! We have a lot of great RW going on Play stupid games, win stupid prizes!

    Sabre

I have been jumping my sabre 170 for most of my 260 jumps. Alot of people complain of hard openings, but I haven't had this problem. My rigger sewed a small lip along the leading edge of my slider to catch a little air and slow the openings. It has worked wonderfully, and is cheaper than buying a new slider. As for the flight characteristics, one could not ask for a better first canopy. It is extremely predictable, has no bad habits, and, with a higher wing loading and a skilled pilot, will perform superb high performance landings.Let's not lose sight of the fact that just a decade ago, this was a state of the art high performance canopy. I would highly recommend this canopy to anyone looking for an inexpensive alternative to today's high priced canopies. One can buy a used sabre with low jump numbers for less than half of the going rate of a new canopy. Think about it,inexpensive reliability, predictability, and performance.
