Where did I say I have a problem with people moving to my hometown? I've grown up surrounded by arabs/muslims. My hometown has practically been the North American Mecca for refugee muslims/arabs for the last 40 years. I just want to understand why and how we can address the situation, even if it means discussing cultural issues that liberals obviously have a problem talking about. Besides, how many Liverpool refugees do you send over here to the U.S? I doubt those children have seen what some of these middle eastern refugees have had to deal with. Regardless tho, I'd still recommend psychological evaluations for anyone trying to enter this country, especially those from the U.K.

Which is not a basis for immigration policy... Not necessarily. This story is news regardless of who the perpetrators are. I could be wrong, but the specifics of this story don't seem to be a common occurrence among groups of 7-14 year old boys in this country - I sure as hell hope not. I'll spare you the details out of respect for other rape victims that might be reading this. I want to know why this happened. Did they do it for the same reasons other rapists/molesters do what they do? Were they bullied? Was this some type of revenge? Were they victims themselves? Did they do this because of cultural issues? Did they do this because of something they saw back in their homeland? Perhaps refugees should under go psychological evaluations, and if there are issues, perhaps treatment should be a part of their financial/medical assistance. Another sickening aspect of this story is how Twin Falls’ City Councilman Greg Lanting attacked the family of the victim by calling them liars - that the father wasn't even part of the child's life and that no way did he see the video of his daughter's attack. Lanting later apologized at a city council meeting saying that his claims were false. Anyway, I'm glad we're talking about this. Where in the OP is there a reference to a christian molester that I supposedly ignored? I'm saying that if there was anything truly disgusting and sickening in that story, it was the gang rape of a 5-year old girl by refugees. But the Salon rather focus on Trump and his "alt-right troll brigade." The story really had nothing to do with Trump. I don't recall him commenting on it. The Salon was just pissed at how Brietbart reported the facts, or that they even reported them at all. The headline really should've been about white supremacist groups, but "White nationalists Hate Muslims" isn't really news, so they turn it against Trump and the media. Yes, the hatred in this country is disturbing, and it will probably be with us for quite awhile. White nationalist have turned their focus toward Muslims, but overall, white nationalism has been on the decline while black separatists groups like the Black Panthers and the Nation of Islam have been on the rise. According to SPLC figures, they are also certainly over represented when it comes to the level of hate groups in this country. I understand that there are a lot of sick things that are going on, but when it comes to a father molesting his daughter, what are we supposed to do about that? How can we prevent it? For the most part, we feel helpless. Maybe if the victim was the same age as the refugee boys, this story would've been a bit easier to digest. But the fact that she was only five-years old, makes it difficult for me to grasp - and if there are cultural implications here, they need to be addressed, if any. I understand that you don't want people to stereotype all refugees based on this one incident, but that doesn't mean we should ignore it.

What's disgusting about that story is the part where a 5-year old was sexually assaulted. The sickening part is where you just glossed over it like it never happened. I get the feeling that if Trump supporters ganged raped a Muslim refugee, the story would've gotten a bit more attention. "We're living in the age of Trump!" BTW, in case you didn't get the memo, the tabloid known as "the Salon" (snicker) can hardly be considered a reliable source nowadays.

For example, if CNN says that Trump is a chicken fucker, I doubt you'll see Trump haters going out of their way to say, "hey, this has gone too far! I have done the research! I have examined the evidence! There is nothing to support the claim that Trump fucks chickens - this is fake news!"

Before this thread dies, I just wanted to say one last thing. Initially I agreed with your sentiments. I just didn't think it was as black and white as you made it to be. When you mentioned that the west just doesn't care about the rest of the world, I thought briefly about the 2004 tsunami. There was a hell of a lot of interest in that. But I left it out because it would've been such a terrible example on so many levels. Anyway, the movie "Impossible" was on today. I only watched about 30 minutes of it. I immediately thought about this thread. Here is an instance where about 250,000 lost their lives, most of which were brown people, both socially and economically disconnected from us, yet the big hit movie is about a white family dodging the wake of fate . . . As an aside, it's interesting that they have such a hard time calling it Islamic extremism. There was the "Kony 2012" movement to bring the christian leader of the LRA to justice.
