  1. i agree.... i'm just making a point. while it is unjustifiable, in my mind, it makes more sense to raise the smoking age (to have all things equal) than to lower the drinking age (to have all things equal) .....make sense? see the world! http://gorocketdog.blogspot.com
  2. interesting.... never thought about the flip-side to that....

    Aerohio

AerOhio is a very open, clean facility. The DZOs (Tim & Sherry) were EXTREMELY accommodating & friendly.... I wish I could say the same for the rest of the DZ. During my 5 hour stay there, ONE PERSON bothered to approach me (& that was for a simple "hello, I'm Gary"). I realize that I could've approached people as well, but did not feel any sort of inviting vibe from anyone but the DZOs. Although the DZ is exceptionally safe, I found it to be unfriendly & therefore, would hesitate to return.
  4. hmmm.... this is a tough one but i'd say Roseanne agree? see the world! http://gorocketdog.blogspot.com
  5. correct me if i'm wrong, but isn't the pilot ultimately & legally responsible for putting jumpers out? given this -- and other more moral issues -- i think pilots should do a go around. Plus, i feel like it's unfair to punish the last jumpers for the first jumpers who are already out with the *good* spot.... see the world! http://gorocketdog.blogspot.com
  6. i'd rather see the smoking age RAISED than the drinking age LOWERED -- hollywood see the world! http://gorocketdog.blogspot.com

  8. don't you think you should govern your own life? ....yes parental nagging about skydiving may be annoying, but if you enjoy it, i say continue! *best of luck* ~hollywood see the world! http://gorocketdog.blogspot.com
  9. ***MAGGIE***!!!!!! CoNgRaTs!!!! sorry i couldn't be on the milestone-100th but you've graduated into TRIPLE DIGITS
  10. **GETTING OLD** and all that comes along with it: -spending hours on something that would normally take a minute (i.e. walking) -not being to remember all the awesome memories i had -being static, debilitated, blind & deaf thats morbid
  11. i did the exact same thing (went to level 3 AFF then switched). I started from the bottom rung of S/L but it was nice because i already knew what to expect & how to arch from 3 AFF jumps.... that made the first 7 S/L jumps fly by. i actually prefer the S/L program because you can focus on canopy skills for the first 6-or-so jumps... THEN work on freefall skills. Just me though. BEST OF LUCK ~hollywood see the world! http://gorocketdog.blogspot.com
  12. i agree with eeneR about the tracking perpendicular to the jumprun.... also, i remember being told that if you allow for appropriate separation, there is no need to track. i may be wrong as it's been awhile. see the world! http://gorocketdog.blogspot.com
  13. THANK YOU FOR THIS POST!!!!! i heart Pulp Fiction see the world! http://gorocketdog.blogspot.com

  16. awww.... we hate to see you go (even though you'll be getting mad sun/jumps in). Will you be out there the entire weekend? ROAD TRIP 2 SEE PAIGE! who's comin with....
  17. *WHOA* .... reading about all these 20 year olds (and younger) makes me feel old when we're talking about years in the sport. I guess 3 years isn't that much, but.... anyone else been in the sport since they were 17-ish? ~hollywood see the world! http://gorocketdog.blogspot.com
  18. this is really random, but i am SOO impressed @ 42 people.... when last season the 24 way (don't remember the # off the top of my head) was hot stuff. thats amazing & very cool see the world! http://gorocketdog.blogspot.com
  19. WoW -- better get the boxing gloves out! Anyway, while Tandems MAY in fact make for better students/better transitions to other methods, I think it would be completely unfair to make Tandems MANDATORY. Not that safety should not be an issue!!! However, I have NEVER done a tandem & probably will not ever choose to for a variety of reasons. PERSONALLY, I am very independent and found it extremely gratifying to do things "unattached" from the very first jump. MAKING someone do a TDM first would undermine & harness that independence that I think a lot of people strive for..... I think it all depends on your personality. ~hollywood see the world! http://gorocketdog.blogspot.com
  20. for me, no part of skydiving feels like the roller coaster/i'm gonna toss my cookies sensation.... being out of control is more like a dizzy spell to me, or like riding those freaking circular tea-cups @ Disneyland.... its disequilibrium and makes me sick to my stomach :) then again, INTENTIONAL flips (i.e. backloops, barrel rolls) are usually less terrifying & that's how i learned to sit fly.... BEST OF LUCK! see the world! http://gorocketdog.blogspot.com
  21. this is sort of a spin-off of a reply a couple of posts above this one (look UP ^).... and this is probably common sense so bear with me. Out of curiosity, what do TANDEMS do if jumpers need to exit @ lower altitudes (open to interpretation)? I would assume the TDM master busts their ass to hook up the student ASAP, but what about things like the Cypres issue, etc.?? see the world! http://gorocketdog.blogspot.com
  22. this is sorta a spin-off of the reply a couple posts above mine (look up ^) Just out of curiosity, what do TANDEMS do if jumpers need to exit the plane @ a low altitude? i would assume the TDM masters bust their ass to hook the student up ASAP, but what about Cypres issues etc.? Maybe this should be common sense, so enlighten me :) see the world! http://gorocketdog.blogspot.com
  23. YAHOOoooo!!! another girl -- i mean LADY in the sport! welcome... ~hollywood see the world! http://gorocketdog.blogspot.com
  24. I suppose this really isn't a big deal, but it somewhat maddens me that the government becomes involved in religious matters. It's sorta like saying the pledge of allegiance in schools: by saying it (since it contains "under God") there is an implied favoritism shown towards Christianity.... but the church & state are separate. Same with this. While it is important to acknowledge and celebrate multiculturalism, I think that the *federal* government should stay neutral & close the lid on the can of worms it opened *just my Soap Box*
  25. that seems a bit stereotypical.... to say that ONLY freefliers are "cool" and "extreme". ANYWAY, i mostly agree with #1-2-and-3. And i agree with WrongWay that a lot of the high-profile jumpers do freefly. I dunno that i would necessarily say a newbie would choose freeflying OVER every other discipline simply due to a lack of the "family" feeling. So what do you think it is more of: nature or nurture? (nature = a shift, just a personal choice/nurture = the environment, the influences) see the world! http://gorocketdog.blogspot.com
