Craig, it is never too late to back out of family rw. and if they give you crap, just say you had a bad altitude (of 0 agl)
-
my thoughts go out to him
-
I was just cleaning it and it went off

wow, those dzs got some great reviews! I'd be scared to jump at dz's (and petrified to give them bad reviews) that were run by the mob. I mean, if all georgia dz's break legs... I always thought messed up landings happen everywhere and you can't blame the dz...but those mob guys...I'm not going to jump at their dz's
-
I know what you mean. I haven't jumped in 2 weeks and I'm getting grumpy. Oh well, hopefully it won't rain on sat. for at least part of the day.
-
It should be okay now that I know my drop zone is certified safe by the NSA. that almost made me laugh. and I guess skydive las vegas is run by his brother, it is also NSA certified and has a great atmosphere as well. "you can only be bad at skydiving once"-Dead Dave

hey, sis think about it. any guy who spends this much time on line needs some. pull low, it's higher than you think

ROL is not good for freeflying because of all that bridle exposed. also you could twist a leg strap when putting on the rig, creating a pc in tow. however, ROL is great if you have a premature container opening because the pc pouch won't shift with the container open

if I have to bail because a pilot is "simulating" an aircraft emergency, I'm going to be PISSED. If I bail out on my reserve because of altitude, and it is not a bona fide emergency, watch out

do farm animals count?

as someone who jumps at a bigger dz (2 otters) and sometimes at perris (3 otters, van, dc3, any other planes?) I feel a need to remind you that with bigger planes, not everyone gets a perfect spot. It's part of the game, you have to trust the gps too not hose the load. spotting is only really done to check for traffic.
-
don't worry. negative people usually find a way to filter themselves out after a couple of jumps. to speed the process, if you have more than one dz near you, reccomend the one you don't jump at. also try to get them at the biggest dz you can find. it will be harder for them to fit in, at least at california dz's. if all else fails, wait until they have ten jumps, cuz then they will know everything about the sport, and bring them on a scare-way. clobber them if you get the chance, and say funnels are normal.

skyhawk, I meant take it easy on the poster who said you get a refund if the parachute doesn't open. Do I need to explain why that is funny? he who laughs last, doesn't get it
-
maybe in the profiles you could add jump #s so we can easily know the experience level of who we are talking to. It can be hard to tell who has 2 jumps and who has 2000 with some of these questions and the answers change accordingly.
-
double posting this question, shame on you. go back to ripcord. I hear they are the most fun to pack. bad skydiver, no donut
-
hey skyhawk, I thought you aussies were supposed to have a sense of humor. I mean look at the koala for gods sake. lighten up and don't take my signoff seriously blue skies, black death
-
at my dz we have plenty of people who jump each kind of rig and swear by their deployment method. my take on it is pullout was popular years ago, had a decline in popularity, and is now back. maybe it stopped being popular for a reason? you won't go wrong with a BOC, it works just fine for the majority of us.

watdya mean real skydiving movie? cutaway really happened, did it not? we just showed it this past weekend and everyone watched at least 60 seconds of it.
-
watsamattawityou, y'all never heard of a safety meeting it is always 4:20 somewhere
-
lighten up guys, farting makes the plane climb faster he who smelt it dealt it
-
hey don't knock the chicks in chronicles 3. that movie has all the elements neccesary for a film: porn, fire, good flying. of course the best part was at the end when that girl was about to make her first base, and that guy was screwing with her, asking if she was going off left foot first.

avittar, I forgot one more point. A lot of us buy a reserve TSO'd for our weight and then go exceding the speed restricion on it.
-
aviatrr, not all tso'd are equal. landing characteristics are VERY important on a reserve. Think late sunset, painful mal, landing out. don't you want a reserve that flys well? correct me if I'm wrong, but I think you can get a round that is TSO'd to the same specs. You wouldn't go cheap on your main, would you. And all mains are created equal also, as long as the wing-loading is constant, right?
-
my "dream" rig is one that packs itself pack fast, pull low, sleep with your riggers' girlfriend=how to have a good weekend
-
Aviatrr, when I said I can out-maneuver most aircraft, I meant if I see a plane, I can dive, turn, turn and dive, or float with minimal delay. And for the record, I've been within a couple hundred feet of 182s probably over 15 times, a few twins, and too many gliders/tow planes. And please, for the love of god, check your charts before flying over unfamilar territory. I would hate to lose friends over a plane vs. jumper collision, even though there have been case(s) where the jumper lived and the planes' occupants did not. And on VFR days, it's not really the control towers responsibility where you fly, is it? pull low, it's higher than you think.
