  1. my name is grasshopper, and I am a skydiver...I feel I could quit anytime I want to. actually, I quit last weekend...until this weekend
  2. hey keanu should win- first jump, 10 minutes of freefall, good conversation, fisrt 4-way, thats beer if I ever heard it.but wesley did do a gregg gasson style rigless jump. and charlie sheen did flash kids on a demo. geez, can I vote more than once?
  3. hey omri, please watch your f**king language. my inner child is disturbed by sh*tty language godd*mn muthaf*cka
  4. I'm always scared I'll hit a plane IN FREEFALL. under canopy, I feel I can out manuever most planes I see coming at me. I have seen many a glider directly below me approaching pull altitude (at my DZ we have too much air traffic). I have also had a cessna 182 coming directly at me at 200 feet (a lot of fr. riser left him in the dust).
  5. grab the grass, it's the bounce that kills
  6. don't just fuck the USPA guidelines, fuck USPA.just kidding, I love those guys. I think pulling at 2000 per USPA guidelines is low with most canopies typical opening speed.
  7. the canopy school is at elsinore in CA, cost is about $240 for 5 jumps, including jump tickets, breifing, video, debriefing. They can work with you at whatever level you need. worth every penny, if you ask me. the faster you land, the farther you swoop(as long as you don't land fast face first then feet)
  8. oh yeah, don't forget to have fun
  9. most important thing first. get a pd reserve. I've never heard of any problems with them, other than that they pack bigger than some other brands. ravens don't always fly straight and can be difficult to land gracefully. for the main, without knowing your experience level, I'd reccomend a pd spectre. you can't do anything to make them open hard (I HAVE tried) they are fun to fly (smaller sizes esp.) and land great. keep in mind when you buy canopy designs (such as safire or cobalt)verylong, quirks may exist that have not been exposed yet. before everyone else starts the hatefull responses, let me remind them of the nova (it got recalled when too many people died or got hurt when they collapse in turbulance) blue skies, black death
  10. my advice is simple. don't listen to advice. your JM will tell you what you need to know and answer all your questions as it pertains to students. Us more experienced jumpers will often try and steer newbies the wrong way, as evidenced by debates on high-performance canopies, AADs, and RSLs blue skies, black death
  11. how about just: student status- under 20 A-20 posts b-50 c-100 d-200 pro-500 toggle-hooker=someone who posts stupid posts like my normal posts web-god=like skygod, reserved for people in a great rush to get off newbie status and have attitude about it
  12. you guys seem to be misunderstanding me. first, for a low pull, I guess I should have said how low would you consider getting in the saddle. I was not looking for USPA guidelines. second, don't say there is no such thing as a high pull. there is nothing wrong with pulling high, but there is such a thing. for the record I have been in the saddle at 15,000 as well as 1500. don't pull low, unless you are low
  13. what about a helicopter? faster than a balloon, and you don't have to wake up early like for a balloon.
  14. but then you reek of cheap beer
  15. they pour beer on you???? that is blatant alcohol abuse if I've ever heard it. or did you mean they pour beer "in" you?
  16. grogs, for a low pull I agree with you depending on how long your canopy takes to open (in the saddle at 1200 is DEFINATELY low). people have been commenting on jumps when I am fully open at 2000 (pro-track to prove it). When I say I pulled high, sometimes I mean 3000 as high.
  17. this question is for "experienced" jumpers only (i.e. licensed). What is your idea of a low pull, altitude-wise? I ask because people have been commenting on me sometimes being a little low. Another question would be, what do you consider as pulling high? Answer in feet, 'cause I am too stupid to convert metric. also please say how many jumps you have for a frame of reference
  18. skreamer, you are forgetting one key thing. To jump a wingsuit you first have to be a relatively experienced skydier. So far, you can't rack up the freefall time for JM/I without some conventional jumping.
  19. I heard that story too about the cutaway flying away. But I also heard that guy bought another airlocked canopy to replace the lost one. And I saw that happen on a tri-cell a few weeks back (the cutaway flying away that is)
  20. one last (junk) post before I go: Lemmings never fear
  21. I'm much better now, I was down there for a while, I guess I saw the light, it was crazy anyhow, no worse than before, I guess you folks were right, yeah I'm much better now. I AM AN ENTHUSIASTIC ENTHUSIAST!!! blue skies, black death
  22. here's to the bartender he's my friend
  23. A man's bar is his castle and this stool is my throne
  24. I say stupid things, forgotten them all by monday
  25. tried to unpop a balloon? you will-and if we say you will, you will
