I do. A lot of the US has the football mentality - it's two teams, and the only thing that matters is that their team wins. Nothing else matters. Fights in the stands? No problems as long as the other guys get arrested. If your guys get arrested, it's police brutality. Cheating on the field? Again, no problem as long as the other team loses. What whining losers they are to bring up that technicality. Precious snowflakes can't handle losing. If your team loses - you were ROBBED! Unfair! The whole system is rigged.
And we've been playing into that mindset for years. Some people are no longer able to see shades of gray; everything is either white (Trump) or black (liberals.)
My take is that both sides are just spoiled rotten sissies who have things so good that they need to fight each other to get over the sheer boredom.
You're right, things really aren't that bad here. Everyday, millions of liberals and conservatives work together in their daily lives and get along just fine. So obviously the issues discussed on the nightly news that we bicker about here on SC on a daily basis really aren't a priority in the grand scheme of things, yet we still allow that displaced anger to make some of the most important decisions for us in the voting booth - and in doing so, play right into the politicians' hands.
They aren't interested in uniting us. That's why every talking point and every bit of "newsworthy" legislation is divisive. It allows them to maintain power and a certain level of control over their constituents.
They are like the WWF. They go out in the spotlight to fight, collect a check and then go out for drinks after the show.
They have effectively designed a divisive system where they no longer serve us, but we serve them - or even worse, they serve themselves.
I'm afraid we just have to let it run it's course until it either gets too old, or too late. . .
